Conservation Volunteers Australia is a Banksia Sustainability Award Finalist

Announcement posted by Conservation Volunteers Australia 02 Mar 2021

CVA announced as a Finalist in the 2020 Banksia Sustainability Awards

The Banksia Foundation has announced the list of Finalists for the sustainability awards, which spans 10 categories and celebrates sustainable development by businesses, communities, individuals and governments.

“After what has been an extremely challenging year, we are keen to celebrate those who are striving to make positive change. In spite of COVID-19, change-makers across Australia are innovating and collaborating to do their bit to improve life on the planet.”

– Graz van Egmond, Banksia Foundation CEO

CVA is nominated in the Nonprofit category, alongside other excellent projects from Beyond Zero Emissions, OzHarvest,  and Planet Ark. It’s definitely going to be a hard decision for the judges in March to choose a winner at this year’s virtual Award Night. Read the announcement and see all the Finalists across all categories here.

A novel feature of this year’s awards day is that Banksia Foundation are making it possible for people to join an online session which aims to get behind the scenes with the Finalists to answer questions and find out about our secret sauce for success. Find out more about this session on ‘Sustainability Success Stories towards UN SDG Targets’ (held on 23 March) as well as opportunities to join in for the Banksia Sustainability Awards Night on March 24th.

We were delighted to be nominated for our #KoalaHelp project, which is taking a people-powered approach to protecting and restoring habitat in New South Wales and Queensland, in partnership with NRMA Insurance.

“With our partners at Conservation Volunteers we have been able to create homes for our native species and help restore koala habitat by planting over 60,000 trees to date. The journey has just begun, and is a long road ahead but we are pleased with this tremendous progress and the ability to engage our NRMA customers along the way.”

– Katherine White, Partnerships, NRMA Insurance & IAG

“We’re so grateful to be recognised for our work to protect and restore homes for Koalas by becoming Banksia Awards Finalists this year. This project was made possible by our friends at NRMA Insurance, and we can’t wait to see what we can do together in 2021 and beyond, creating shared value through our partnership which supports our Wild Futures campaign.”

– Geraldine Rep, Strategic Partnerships Manager, Conservation Volunteers Australia

All of the team at CVA will be looking forward to what happens at the Banksia Awards Night in March, and we’re cheering on all the other finalists across all the categories. Together we’re delighted to be part of the movement which is advancing Australia’s efforts towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) over this vital upcoming UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
