Two of the Gold Coast’s most prolific artists join forces to celebrate diversity at Cavill Lane's 'Arts in the Alley'

Announcement posted by zanthii communications 15 Mar 2021

Two of the Gold Coast's most prolific artists have joined forces on a mission to celebrate diversity, and showcase the region’s finest artistic talent.

Visual artist, Tracie Eaton and performing artist, Aarti Bajaj will be collaborating to present an experience like no other, demonstrating both visual arts and performing arts to the public on Wednesday, 17th of March, 2021 between 6-8pm at the Gold Coast's brand new arts festival, ‘Arts in the Alley’ presented by Cavill Lane Surfers Paradise.

Inspired by this year’s International Women’s Day theme, ‘Choose To Challenge’, the creative pair have come together to create a truly unique experience depicting the contrast between what is perceived and seen visually versus what is within us all.

“Through the art of bodypainting and dance, we will be highlighting the cracks, the fears and the challenges we all face as part of the human experience,” said Ms Eaton.

“Our project aims to represent the fact that whilst we may all experience success, we still all have moments of doubt.”

‘Arts in the Alley’ is the first step by Cavill Lane Surfers Paradise toward its vision of positioning itself as an artistic hub on the Gold Coast.

“Cavill Lane Surfers Paradise is excited to set the stage for local arts, culture and entertainment right in the heart of the city through our debut arts festival, ‘Arts in the Alley’,” said Cavill Lane Surfers Paradise Marketing & Events Manager, Carleen Janlewicz.

“We realise the importance of supporting our locals, businesses and visitors in our diverse precinct and aim to foster the Gold Coast creative industry.”

It was this vision and commitment to pull together artists of all descriptions that motivated both Ms Eaton and Ms Bajaj to accept the invitation to perform as special VIP guests at the festival.

“I am a big advocate of diversity in the arts, as is Aarti, so we were both impressed by the steps being taken by Cavill Lane Surfers Paradise to position itself as the Gold Coast’s ‘hub of the arts”,” said Ms Eaton.

Ms Eaton, otherwise known as “Australia’s Artist to the Stars”, is in the midst of creating exquisite and inspired original prestige artwork for Hollywood’s Elite, following exclusive commission for inclusion in giftbags celebrating 2021 Academy Awards’ nominees, for the third consecutive year.

Ms Eaton has created bespoke artwork for stars such as Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks and Renee Zellweger - but to name a few.

A medical sonographer by trade, Ms Bajaj holds a bachelor’s degree in Indian classical dance – Bharatnatyam and is the creative director of both 9Expressions School of Performing Arts on the Gold Coast, and Wild Dreamer Productions Australia, a groundbreaking production house aiming to bring voluminous new stories to life, whilst also creating a platform to give different artists the opportunity where they don’t need a profile to share their talent.

"The primary vision and ethos of Wild Dreamer Productions is to bring local talent together wherever the production goes," said Ms Bajaj.

“I am tremendously passionate about the arts sector, especially that of the Gold Coast arts community, and I’m determined to see it come back to life after the COVID-19 pandemic put a hold on all public performances, displays and shows.”

Ms Bajaj’s newest production is VOID, a dramatic two-person musical theatre which will play three shows at HOTA on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of June, 2021, with tickets being released to the public for purchase on the 19th of March, 2021.

‘Arts in the Alley’ presented by Cavill Lane Surfers Paradise is a free, all ages, arts festival for the entire community to enjoy running from Friday, 12th of March through to Saturday, 20th of March, 2021.
