Two Sisters, starring Jean Kittson, at Emanuel Synagogue: tickets on sale!

Announcement posted by The Big Smoke Media 08 Apr 2021

Tickets on sale now! Acclaimed Producer Adam Liberman and Emanuel Synagogue are excited to present Two Sisters, starring renowned actress and comedian, Jean Kittson. The four performances of the dramatised reading will take place at Emanuel Synagogue in Woollahra between 19 and 23 May 2021.

Writing for Broadway World, reviewer Shari Barrett said of the play’s 2016 US debut that Gail Louw had written “…an exquisite play”.

Two Sisters will definitely resonate with anyone who's ever been part of a family,” she wrote.

Audiences will meet playwright Gail Louw’s Two Sisters, Rika and Edith, who are very close but about to discover a shocking truth about their past. Can they adapt or will they now, after seventy years, become strangers?

Set on a kibbutz in Israel in 1996, reveals the politics, rivalry, sweetness, humour and sadness inextricably entwining the sisters’ lives. It explores sibling relationships and their often wildly differing perceptions of past events.

It confronts the realities of growing old; maintaining or relinquishing independence, the need for others, and complex emotions including selfishness, guilt and regret.
