Author Sara Whincup knows all about the environment the creatures of the Great Western Woodlands call home. Growing up in the Perth Hills and Toodyay, then spending a good chunk of time as a community care nurse working in remote communities, Sara is passionate about our beautiful landscape and its inhabitants.
Illustrated by Toodyay-based Indigenous artist, Elvis Moody, ‘Where Wild Emus Roam’ is a picture book sure to appeal to young children with a fascination with creatures, critters and the land.
Having already penned a children’s picture book, ‘The St John’s Cross Spider’ and taking it on tour with Elvis around primary schools, Sara is keen to continue spreading the message of ‘treading carefully.’ ‘Where Wild Emus Roam’ is a testament to Sara’s dedication to the cause, knowing that to preserve and protect our wilderness, children of a young age need to be introduced to it in a sustainable way. This book does just that, with children able to browse through the pages and find the creatures who live there.
