The Return of the Business Events Sector - Or False Start?

For over 12 months the hospitality, business event venues and managers have fought hard to keep their businesses afloat by digging deep into their reserves and changing focus wherever they could.

Many have left the sector to find new opportunities, and that’s a lot of human capital that may take years to rebuild. It is now time for the survivors to help get the events sector up on its feet and start running great events again.

The businesses that survived the rocky 12 months of a grim number of bookings can hopefully feel the warm sunrise in their booking pipeline. 

Most who rely on the international tourism and events sector had no bookings taken from March to March, and remains low for now. But finally the requests for quotes are being received. 

First 2 quarters of 2021 remains weak while quarters 3 and 4 may need an increase to our headcount.

But, and it’s a big but, how will we go at keeping this insidious virus out of the community and spooking confidence to invest in events?

The risk of winter remains, will there be outbreaks, if so will this tear apart the built up confidence. Will business leaders, event planners, meeting organizers, hospitality professionals and consumers show their support for in person events once again in a sustainable way. It certainly looks like.

Like a line in the sand, 'The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) the peak industry association for those in the business of trade and consumer expos and events' is holding it's first in person networking event tomorrow. Industry leaders in Sydney will come together to mark the (re)start of business events.
