COMING UP ROSÉ – MAJOR EVENT SUCCESS

Announcement posted by Rosé Coast 11 May 2021

Broadbeach recently played host to the Gold Coast inaugural rosé festival – ROSÉ COAST – delivering a multi-activation event that took advantage of the Gold Coast’s stunning backdrop while adding to the region’s roster of must-attend events.

Over 1500 people adorned Kurrawa Beach on Saturday May 1 in a sea of pink and white, enjoying the best of Australian-produced rosés from 20 wine growing regions across the country, with a carefully curated gourmet food menu and a range of wine-related leisure activities to wine the day away.

The event was a huge success and, according to Kristen Francis, Creative Director and Co- producer and Director and Co-Producer Margot Natoli, Broadbeach was the ultimate location to deliver the seaside vibe that exemplified the Rosé Coast experience.

“Our goal is to work with the local community and generate economic activity, while attracting external visitation for years to come. Our team are determined to showcase the Gold Coast for what it is – a beautiful destination and host for a wine festival like Rosé Coast,” said Margot.

Key activations at the Festival such as Pinot and Picasso’s painting classes were snapped up in record time, while festivalgoers also had a ball at Wine Selector’s masterclasses and the Silent Disco Drops and chilled out with some R&R at the endota spa Broadbeach pop ups.

Additionally, industry innovators and winemakers from the Barossa Valley, The Chaffey Bros
were serving those in the VIP Beach Club, while Oracle Boulevard a highly popular Frosè Bar by Gypsy Social.

With the event scheduled to take place in 2020, but instead held over due to COVID delays, the support of key stakeholders and sponsors like Major Events Gold Coast allowed the Festival to take shape this year.

“Major Events Gold Coast was delighted to partner with the inaugural Rosé Coast Festival, and we applaud the organisers for their tenacity in bringing the event to fruition in these uncertain times,” said Jan McCormick, CEO of Major Events Gold Coast.

“What was extra pleasing to see was that the event garnered positive media exposure for the Gold Coast with a reach of over 9.5 million people, firmly putting the Gold Coast on the map for more food and wine events.”

The event is pencilled into next year’s calendar with Kristen buoyant about the growth prospects to increase the scope and audience of the event off the back of Australia’s love affair with rosé.

“Next year we’ll look to draw from markets further afield and build on 2021’s success, as we hopefully won’t be battling continued disruptions and trepidation over border closures and the like.”

The Festival played host to a wide demographic – from young singles, and the social set, to a more mature wine-loving crowd, foodies, craft beer and gin lovers and those that just simply enjoy wining and dining in the outdoors.

“It truly was a great day out and it was lovely to see our local producers celebrated in true Aussie- style - toes in the sand with a wine in hand – and we’re ready to do it all again next year,” said Kristen.

Rosé Coast is proudly supported by Major Events Gold Coast and partnered with QT Gold Coast as the preferred accommodation for the event.
