WILD WELLNESS: TASMANIA’S ANTIDOTE TO MODERN LIFE STRESSES

Announcement posted by Impressions Marketing Communications 01 Jun 2021

Wild Wellness is an Australian first – a merging of medical professionals, decades of experience and global thought leaders – delivered through retreats and online courses. It’s the latest remedy for modern life stresses, launching nationally this August in Tasmania’s wilderness.

The most recent Productivity Commission Report estimates mental illness is costing Australia $220 billion a year. The burdened health system is under relentless stress. Wild Wellness delivers a fresh, science-backed approach featuring Wim Hof Method ocean plunges, doctor-led sessions beneath the stars, powerful journaling, guided breathwork and more. Online courses provide an opportunity to access the method from one’s pocket.

This wellness blueprint is the product of founder Alice Hansen’s 20-year struggle to find good help; a journey stretching from downtown Hobart to Colorado, USA. It’s transformative capability is grounded in relationships spanning Australian not-for-profit organisation, Hello Sunday Morning and US-based This Naked Mind through to Europe’s Wim Hof Method. Its team includes a doctor, psychologist, NLP practitioner, personal trainer, yoga instructor and nutritionist.

“I’m not proud of my battle with drinking. It’s landed me in rehab 26 times. That’s a shame-filled record only those close to me knew, as I attempted to maintain a shiny exterior,” explains Alice; an author, US tennis scholarship recipient and owner of a Grand Design Australia featured home. “But, if the road led to Wild Wellness, this two-decade bumpy ride has meaning and worth. I chose to share my story in hope it gives others permission to be vulnerable and openly talk. It’s through connection I found my own wellness.”

There are two Wild Wellness pathways; the first for those seeking to optimise general well-being through a holistic approach, the second, for those keen to shift their relationship with alcohol. Australians spent an extra $2 billion on alcohol in 2020 compared to 2019. Wild Wellness provides specific tools, including a 30-day meal plan specific to nutrients a drinker needs to replenish. It’s not a ‘few day fix’ but a lasting recalibration.

“Wild Wellness is truly a unique and innovative approach for Australian mental health,” says Dr. Chris Davis, GP and founder of the Clean Slate Clinic. “I consult with patients every day who would benefit from holistic skills that are offered by the retreat. I am excited to be visiting Tasmania and being part of the program at The Cove in September.”

With plans to expand nationally, the first Wild Wellness experience launches in partnership with the award-winning Tasmanian Walking Company, this August. The Three Capes Wild Wellness Walk combines cliff-hugging nature, Wim Hof dips with a qualified practitioner, fireside journaling and meditation among towering Eucalypts.

“I’m so thrilled to be launching Wild Wellness with such an esteemed company, the Three Capes Wild Wellness Walk is an epic partnership. Ultimately, I can’t see why Tasmania shouldn’t be the Australian epi-centre of health and wellness. I do feel Wild Wellness belongs here; one of the last wild frontiers, at the edge of the world.”
