Multi-discipline engineers keeping sites compliant, productive and safe

Brisbane-based engineering company, Waterline celebrates 10 years of operational excellence on 26 May.

Waterline was co-founded by entrepreneur Randall Makin, from his office on the waterline in Bowen. The founders, Mr Makin and Wayne Gerard identified a niche in the market for site-experienced engineers to work with large asset owners to improve the safety, productivity and capacity of their operations.

Starting out with a focus in providing electrical engineering expertise for ports, since then, Waterline has evolved into so much more. It is now a multi-discipline engineering company that supports mineral processing facilities, mine sites and ports throughout the east coast of Australia. With the team’s extensive site experience, Waterline’s engineers can also keep its clients’ assets running and their teams supported and safe remotely. Without the need to step a foot on site, this helps clients save on site related costs such as travel, car hire, accommodation and the like.

“Over 85% of our clients are in the mining industry. Waterline’s engineers are underground mine experts and currently support all mining operations in Queensland. Our extensive experience in underground mining, coupled with our site experience and our ability to deliver critical projects is why clients turn to Waterline,” Mr Randall Makin said.

“We also support most open cut mines and through our collaborative approach, we always ensure we apply the lessons learnt from other projects in all our engagements. This enables us to accelerate and reduce the risk on any future project that we are involved in. As an extension to our clients’ team, we work closely with them to develop and deliver the best outcomes possible, so that their assets continue to run safely and efficiently now, and into the future.

“And we’ve achieved this milestone thanks to our clients and our people. Our team works hard for our clients and are proud of the projects they’ve delivered. It’s their dedication that frees up our clients so they can focus on their operational strengths while we take care of the rest. It’s that empathy that enables us to truly understand our clients’ site challenges. It’s why we’re here today,” said Mr Makin.

Waterline has shared a video thanking its team for their contribution over the years, helping to build Waterline to what it is today. View the video here.
