MAMMA MIA! CAST JUMPS INTO REHEARSALS

Ahead of the iconic MAMMA MIA! production hitting the Gold Coast this month, June 19 – July 11, the all-star cast have dusted off their dancing shoes as rehearsals kick off for the highly anticipated and much-loved musical phenomenon.

With over 150 hours of rehearsals across three weeks, the seasoned lead cast and ensemble have started the process of stepping into their famed characters, ready to deliver an unforgettable performance for audiences.

Leads include local Star Search winner, Madeline Grice, as ‘Sophie Sheridan’, Jayde Westaby ‘Donna Sheridan’, Lakota Johnson ‘Sky’, Sean Mulligan ‘Sam Carmichael’, James Shaw ‘Harry Bright’, Sandro Colarelli ‘Bill Austin’, Leah Howard ‘Rosie’ and media personality Emily Jade O’Keeffe ‘Tanya’, to deliver the beloved story of MAMMA MIA!

Following a fun yet extensive audition process, conducted by Matt Ward Entertainment over the last few months, 14 additional performers have been cast in various supporting and ensemble roles for the iconic production, including Kyra Thompson ‘Ali’, Alicia Fox ‘Lisa’, DonAlex Vilitama ‘Pepper’ and Zane Powell, Jackson Brash, Maddi Coleman, Ryley Shaw, Carla Doyle, Selin Doygun, Patrick Connolly, Shyan Andrews, Aurelie Roque, Alex Watson and Stephen Hirst as the ensemble.

Producer Matt Ward said the calibre of cast for this exciting rendition of MAMMA MIA! is nothing short of extraordinary, and one of the strongest group of actors he has worked with to date.

“We are working with an extremely talented group of stars - from some of the most seasoned to new up-and-coming musical theatre talent like Madeline Grice who we discovered through a local star search.

“To say I’m excited is an understatement, I can’t wait to see the show come to life over the next few weeks as we watch the cast seamlessly transform into their lively on-stage personas”, said Matt.

With opening night a few short weeks away, Matt shared that the hard work put into rehearsals will be well and truly worth it as it will be a magical experience for everyone involved.

“Rehearsals are so important in the lead up to any production and with only two weeks until opening night at The Star Gold Coast, we’re looking at some long days and nights, but the outcome is going to be electric.”

Matt Ward’s dream team also includes the likes of Director Tim Hill, Musical Director Kuki Tipoki, Choreographer Joseph Simons, Costume Designer Jess Hansen and Set Designer Adam Gardnir.
