COSBOA calls for community leaders to voice small business perspectives at Sydney Summit

Announcement posted by COSBOA 24 Jun 2021

The National Small Business Summit, hosted by the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA) is back in Sydney, from 9 – 10 September 2021 at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour.

Australia’s premier policy event for small business invites community leaders to represent small business perspectives to regulators, the Government and policy makers. This year’s theme: perspectives, policy and purpose will fuel discussions based on real stories to influence tangible policy reform and regulatory change.

Newly appointed Interim CEO of COSBOA, Alexi Boyd says after a tumultuous 18 months, the Summit will be a crucial platform to dig deep into the big policy issues for small business.

“To make an impact at policy level which benefits the wider community, COSBOA need many viewpoints. The Summit is a fantastic opportunity to bridge the conversation gap between what small businesses need, and how to communicate that to regulators, policy makers and Government.”

“We need to come together to share what’s going on from the ground up, so our leaders know what ‘real’ changes are needed to support our small businesses. Join us at the Summit and let’s empower our biggest employer in Australia to continue to ‘get on with their work’ and drive future prosperity and economic growth,” finished Ms Boyd.

Over the two days, panels, Q and As and debates will cover:

  • Regulation: taxation, competition, securities and investments, workplace relations and financial complaints.
  • Digitisation and cybersecurity
  • Pandemic policy: insurance, landlords and insolvency
  • Industrial relations
  • Mental health
  • Sustainability
  • Banking, finance and superannuation

About COSBOA

COSBOA was founded in 1977 and was incorporated in 1979 as a public company limited by guarantee. COSBOA has a proud history of strong advocacy on small business issues ranging from taxation and workplace relations, through to competition law and retail tenancy.

COSBOA was created by people who believed that small business needed a voice that was not also representing big business – as a result, the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia is now the country’s peak body exclusively representing the interests of small businesses.
