3 of the Most Exciting Celeb Eyewear Campaigns in 2024

Announcement posted by Swim Fun 29 Jun 2021

The power of a celebrity endorser is no stranger to big brands. With their global following and influence, celebrities can help companies rake in more consumers and revenue even with a single partnership. Without a doubt, one industry that has best capitalized on celebrity connections is eyewear.

A great example is how action star Tom Cruise’s use of Ray-Ban aviators in the first “Top Gun” helped save the eyewear brand from bankruptcy in 1986. In many cases, the impact of a celebrity is so successful that brands will onboard them back-to-back. Such was the case just earlier this year when eyewear retailer LensCrafters renewed their partnership with award-winning actress Sharon Stone. With that, let’s look at some of the other more exciting celebrity-led eyewear campaigns that are shaping both pop and fashion culture.

Miley Cyrus x Dolce and Gabbana

The Grammy-winning singer is known for many things, including her penchant for bold fashion. After all, Miley Cyrus has inspired countless headlines for outlandish looks, like her fuzzy stuffed toy-inspired leotard from the 2013 VMAs.Today, as a more mature artist, Cyrus may not lean towards the same controversial ensembles, but she’s still a confident style icon. This is why her 2024 campaign for Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses is a match made in sartorial heaven. Captured by photographer Mert Alas, the campaign shows Cyrus in oversized frames. Made of brightly colored transparent acetate, each pair is accessorized with the design house’s iconic D&G logo. With stand-out silhouettes like cat eyes, aviators, and wraparounds, the shades in this campaign embody Dolce and Gabbana and Cyrus’ shared spirit of unabashed individuality.

Dwyane Wade x Versace

Since he retired from the NBA in 2019, Dwyane Wade has effortlessly stepped into the role of A-list influencer. Known for his savvy outfits on and off the court, Wade has been named on multiple Best Dressed lists and has been invited to numerous high-profile fashion events, like Paris Fashion Week. Cementing his status as a style maven proving athletes can wear more than suits and jerseys, Wade entered 2024 with his second campaign featuring with Versace. Indeed. Versace sunglasses are known for their quality, and models such as the VE4353 and V4387 in tortoiseshell epitomize that luxury. Indeed, in the campaign, Wade also shared that he enjoys working with the Italian luxury brand because they share the same values regarding honesty, representation, and self-expression. Covering both sun and optical, the campaign includes eye-catching monochromatic sunglasses and tortoiseshell eyeglasses.

Lenny Kravitz x Ray-Ban

Multi-hyphenate performer Lenny Kravitz has been a style icon since his debut release in the 80s. While his love for scarves is what he’s most recognized for, fashion-wise, Kravitz has also been an avid fan of eyewear. Across the years, he’s donned a pair of shades or specs to many events, like the Oscars and the Met Gala. In 2019, he even took to social media to talk about a pair of sunglasses he lost during a concert. Although some supporters speculate that Kravitz wears sunnies because of a lazy eye, these claims remain unsubstantiated. What is certain is that the actor-singer’s eyewear choices often become trends. Further proving he’s ahead of the curve, Kravitz recently worked with Ray-Ban to release a limited edition collection of aviators. The Ray-Ban shades, which come in reflective metal colors, are part of the brand’s relatively new Reverse collection. Unlike regular aviators, these frames subtly curve inwards to create a more face-flattering fit. As there are only 1,000 pieces in this collab, these glasses ensure that users will achieve a unique look.
