Announcement posted by EqualLogic 22 Mar 2007

Sydney, 23 March 2007-- EqualLogic, a leading provider of complete, enterprise-class iSCSI storage area network (SAN) solutions, today announced the appointment of Chris Casey as general manager for the ANZ & ASEAN regions. Chris will drive an aggressive sales program and build partnerships with resellers and distributors throughout ANZ & ASEAN in support of EqualLogic’s international growth strategy.

“Casey’s appointment supports EqualLogic’s ongoing expansion in the region; it reflects the company’s significant growth worldwide. We have maintained a 40 percent sequential quarterly sales increase over the last three years and have added 365 new customers in the fourth quarter 2006 alone. EqualLogic was recently ranked as second in IDC’s global iSCSI SAN rankings by terabytes shipped1 and also ranked second by Gartner Group for global iSCSI SAN revenue2 share,” said Ray Demeo VP Asia Pacific.

Casey brings significant IT experience both within the storage market and in driving business growth with over 20 years working in telecommunications and IT, with the last 13 in Asia . Prior to his role with EqualLogic, he spent several years in senior APAC positions at vendors such as Cosine Communications, Lucent and Datacraft. He also held senior technical positions at users such as Optus, Westpac and Sydney Water.

A significant focus for EqualLogic’s ANZ operation is the development of its channel network, which currently includes 450 partners worldwide accounting for more than 90 percent of the company's revenue. “We are currently driving our position in the ANZ market through a two-tier distribution model with distribution partners ACA Pacific in Australia, Singapore and Malaysia and VAR partners; Sententia, Enstor and Astron in Australia,” said Casey. Announcement of their appointment will follow.

As part of the investment in the region, EqualLogic has established a region-wide parts replacement infrastructure to enable channels and customers alike to be assured of timely onsite response times in the event of equipment breakages. Gerry Boucher, VP EqualLogic Support Services stated, “We understand that when it comes to storage, unlike say desktops or servers, its always mission critical to a customer, and they cannot wait days or weeks for parts to arrive from the . To that end we invested ahead of time in a support infrastructure to provide customers and channels alike with the comfort that we can deliver promptly throughout the region.”

EqualLogic is also establishing one or more locations for customer demonstrations within the region. “EqualLogic has invested in equipment for potential customers to come and test-drive our iSCSI SAN technology. Customers can come and setup a SAN, test applications and environments for themselves. With an easy to use install script and wizard a client can self-install an EqualLogic SAN in under 20 minutes. It will allow EqualLogic to leverage its Corporate Global partnerships with Microsoft, VMware, Symantec/VERITAS and others,” added Casey.

EqualLogic’s newly launched PS3900XV, will be the first new product launched by Casey in APAC. This is the first iSCSI storage array to employ the 300 gigabyte 15K CHEETAH enterprise SAS disks from Seagate. The PS3000 Series uses Seagate Technology’s CHEETAH high-speed SAS disk drives and LSI Logic’s SAS 1068 chipset to deliver the highest performance iSCSI storage arrays in production today. With EqualLogic’s latest firmware, Version 3.0, is gaining great traction in the channel allowing partners to offer a range of iSCSI solutions to suit each customer’s needs. Casey will take advantage of this interest to secure new relationships with specialist resellers within the ANZ & ASEAN region, leveraging their expertise in regional markets.
