Sydney, New South Wales, Australia — 9 July 2021 — Barhead Solutions was named a finalist of the 2021 Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards in two categories, Power Apps and Power Automate and Community Response. The Australian company was honoured among a global field of top Microsoft partners that have developed and delivered outstanding Microsoft-based solutions in 2020. Microsoft classified awards in various categories and sorted through more than 4,400 entries coming from 100 countries worldwide.
‘Barhead is exceptionally proud to be recognised by Microsoft in two global categories as we provide solutions to industries and communities through our expertise in Power Platform,’ said Ken Struthers, CEO and co-founder, Barhead Solutions. ‘As the world shows resilience this year, Barhead will continue to accelerate our customers' businesses by bringing Microsoft solutions to life.’
Barhead earned recognition in the Power Apps and Power Automate category as a leader in transforming systems and digitising businesses together with Microsoft. For several years, Barhead’s specialised consultants guided private organisations in making ideas come to life. One of Barhead’s clientele was Tassal, Australia’s largest salmon and prawn grower and seafood processor. In the past year, Barhead rolled out 10 Power Apps for Tassal and integrated these apps with Tassal’s Smart Farm and Dynamics 365 Field Service, resulting in a supply chain visibility of 35,000 tonnes of harvested salmon.
Moreover, Barhead pre-built assets and productivity apps on the Power Platform so companies could readily access them. It offered more than 25 ready-to-go services in the market, a number that was not easy to achieve. ‘We realised that businesses must be able to respond as quickly as they can to the growing digital world, whether they want to solve a problem or drive creativity and innovation. Barhead works closely with businesses, offering Microsoft solutions that empower everyone to adapt and innovate,’ said Mike Medves, Head of Power Platform, Barhead Solutions.
Aside from deploying apps, Barhead continued its education efforts through workshops and training sessions, catering to four persona profiles with varying levels of expertise: Learner, Starter, Innovator, and Dynamics 365 User. It conducted more than 70 free enablement workshops attended by more than 1,800 prospects and customers from 1,400 companies from Australia and other parts of the world. Attendees represented most industries worldwide, including financial services, healthcare, public sector, higher educations, business services, and not-for-profits (NFPs). By helping users maximise the capabilities of Microsoft technology, Barhead stayed true to its mission of unlocking business growth through Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform.
Meanwhile, the Community Response Partner of the Year Award (finalist) recognised Barhead’s successful deployment of Clearspace, a workforce management app built on Microsoft’s Power Platform. Clearspace, a low-code, repeatable and scalable solution for implementing safety protocols and social distancing in COVID-19, integrates well with IoT sensors and artificial intelligence. The app, which can list locations and monitor seating capacity, offers users a reservation and check-in function with a ‘my bookings’ feature.
‘Clearspace has been designed to offer a simple-to-use solution for employees returning to the office–ensuring peace of mind that they have a safe, clean environment to work in. At the same time, it provides at-a-glance metrics to the enterprise about utilisation of facilities, bringing confidence that all the current rules and regulations are being adhered to, and peace of mind that if there is the need for contact tracing all the data is there instantly,’ said Doug Maloney, Head of Product and IP, Barhead Solutions. Through Clearspace, Barhead enabled the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) and the National Roads and Motorists’ Association (NRMA) to manage remote working and return-to-work conditions while keeping the health of their employees a priority. As a result, the two institutions continued their essential services for Sydney residents—predicting weather conditions and environmental changes for the BoM and alerting motorists to road hazards and traffic for the NRMA.
‘I am honoured to announce the winners and finalists of the 2021 Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards,’ said Rodney Clark, corporate vice president, Global Partner Solutions, Channel Sales and Channel Chief, Microsoft. ‘These remarkable partners have displayed a deep commitment to building world-class solutions for customers—from cloud-to-edge—and represent some of the best and brightest our ecosystem has to offer.’
