Brian Walters AO QC to release Treason on 20 July

Announcement posted by Fearless Collective 12 Jul 2021

The story of the plot to kill Hitler

With a compelling narrative, Treason provides a detailed and authoritative account of the German resistance to the Nazis. In a chronicle of heroism, sacrifice and drama, Treason outlines numerous attempts to assassinate Adolf Hitler and rid the world of Nazi oppression.

The plot reached its climax on 20 July 1944, when Claus von Stauffenberg placed a bomb in Hitler's conference room, and led an insurrection across Germany. Claus von Stauffenberg was a member of the German nobility and an army officer, married with four young children and a fifth on the way, when he led the July Plot and failed assassination attempt.

He was ultimately shot before a firing squad, and now almost eight decades later, this book brings to life the account of individual moral character and physical courage set against the tumultuous last years of WWII and the reign of Nazi terror.

“We all have our challenges and none more than Claus von Stauffenberg. He was willing to risk himself and his family for a better Germany. My father spent 1939 in Germany, in the year WWII broke out. My interest stems from there, along with my love for literature and history,” said Mr Walters.

This extraordinary true story of exceptional men and women who risked everything in their attempts to rid the world of the Nazi regime and end the Second World War is one of the twentieth century’s great narratives. The book contains more than 500 photographs and is complemented by maps and diagrams.

The family of Claus von Stauffenberg, especially his eldest son Berthold, shared many conversations with Brian in the evolution of Treason.

Treason will be released July 20, 2021 77 years after the failed attempt which cost Claus von Stauffenberg his life.
