Announcement posted by Impressions Marketing Communications 28 Oct 2021
Compass Hut is excited to share their new eco, tiny house on wheels (THOW) accommodation, Arc Pavilion.
This new addition joins their, smaller, tiny house on wheels accommodation, Barnhaus, on the family’s organic farm on the North-West coast of Tasmania, taking their accommodation offerings to the next level.
Arc Pavilion is a 7.5-meter long tiny house on wheels, parked alongside Tasmanian native bushland on one side, and picturesque countryside pastures on the other. The accommodation is self-contained and includes its own private and newly established gardens and outdoor areas, awarding guests with stunning views across the coast to Bass Strait - you can even see the Spirit of Tasmania coming and leaving!
Arc Pavilion hosts large windows and doors on three sides of the tiny house, awarding guests with views in all directions. The space includes a luxurious queen-sized bed, french linens, over-bed skylight and artwork on display. The ensuite bathroom, semi-open-plan to the bedroom, boasts an unusually high, fully glazed double-shower space that looks out to a fully enclosed, private Japanese maple garden. The living space has a fully-equipped kitchenette so you don’t have to feel held back if you want to get into some cooking during your stay. The space also includes a wine fridge and minibar. Guests are also welcomed with a small, complimentary bottle of red and chocolates. The living space really takes advantage of the views with a large window that shows off the Tesla Powerwall outside. A large bi-fold door that opens out onto a deck where guests are welcome to the sun on the outdoor pillows provided or relax with some yoga using the yoga mats provided. Two armchairs look back to the Danish Morso fireplace indoors - where guests can enjoy a glass of wine and dinner in the evenings. Guests also have access to both a TV and wall-mounted tablet to use, which includes Free WIFI hot-spotting to their devices.
Arc Pavilion also hosts artwork by the owners, Kylie and Tamika Bell in both 2D and ceramic sculptures. In addition, the Tiny House has been designed, crafted and curated by Kylie and Tamika, with most of the furniture and cabinetry designed and built by the sisters.
Both Arc Pavilion and Barnhaus are 100% off-grid Tiny Homes. They both operate independently with a solar array and battery storage, with their newest addition hosting Tesla’s newly-adopted Powerwall for off-grid properties; one of the first installed in the region. Guests are also welcome to view the Tesla app during their stay, via a wall-mounted tablet, and see what the system is doing. The buildings live and breathe on their own as solar passively designed spaces (insulated, north orientated and double-glazed), showcasing the power of eco and sustainable design and eco-accommodation.
As part of the accommodation experience, each Tiny House has its own edible garden. Guests are welcome to use these edibles and with the information provided to guests, to learn about the families operating, organic vegetable farm, which has been the properties main occupation for over 25-years.
The North-West region is famously home to Tasmania’s agricultural centre against the backdrop of undulating hills and jaw-dropping coastal landscape. In fact, the North-West is a chorus of many food and wine producers, with many who have to open their doors to visitors, which make up some of the best things to see and do in the region.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Compass Hut sits in the centre of a huge range of things to do and see. Just a 10-minutes drive away is the port city of Devonport and the Spirit of Tasmania terminal. Surrounding Devonport and the port-city itself, visitors can visit:
Forth Valley/Turners Beach - Tasmanian Arboretum, Braddon’s Lookout (both 5-minutes down the road), La Mar Providore Cafe and the Turner’s Beach Berry Patch are a must.
Devonport - Southern Wild Gin Disterlly. Mrs Jones Resturant Bar Lounge, Drift Cafe and the Bass Strait Maritime Centre & cafe are some of the best experiences in town.
Latrobe/Port Sorrell - Anvers Chocolate Factory, Ghost Rock Vineyard & Cellar Door, Narawntpua National Park (Archers Knob) and the historic township of Latrobe can’t be missed!
Sheffield - Only a 20-minute drive from Compass Hut, the art mural and township, a myriad of art and craft shops, Mount Roland and Tasmazia & the Village of Lowercrackpot at top sites.
Cradle Mountain - For many of us on the coast, Cradle Mountain is our backyard, taking only a 65-minutes drive to the visitor centre and Dove Lake. We dub it the best and most dynamic 1hr road trip up into Tasmania’s Central Highlands.
Other notable attractions within the northwest region include Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary, Mole Creek Caves, Little Penguins at Lillico, Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm, La Villa Wines and Hellyers Road Distillery among many others.
