Jamie Lee Wilson (aka JVMIE) back on GC, new album, quarantine inspo!

“I was inspired to use my quarantine time creatively and work on an album of songs that not only acknowledges the current tension in the world, but also inspires a sense of hope.”

For immediate release

With the news from the Prime Minister that Australians would be subject to a new, supervised, mandatory quarantine at an unknown hotel on arrival in Australia, what was already an incredibly difficult time, became even more stressful for the LA based, Gold Coast born and bred artist, Jamie Lee Wilson aka JVMIE.

After losing all foreseeable gigs and sessions due to the coronavirus pandemic, JVMIE made the difficult decision to return to the Gold Coast from Los Angeles where she’s been working as a musician and face 2 weeks in hotel quarantine.

On the day Jamie was set to fly out of LA, she came across the Rage Against the Virus grant funded by HOTA Gold Coast and it sparked some inspiration.

“I was inspired to use my quarantine time creatively and work on an album of songs that not only acknowledges the current tension in the world, but also inspires a sense of hope.”

While in hotel isolation JVMIE has been collaborating remotely with LA based film composer, Lionel Cohen fusing elements of electronic music with cinematic textures.

Cohen who just finished scoring "Mob Town”, starring David Arquette and "First We Take Brooklyn" starring Harvey Keitel met the Aussie songstress at a film screening in Los Angeles last year. The pair discussed working together but it wasn’t until the Coronavirus hit Los Angeles, making in person sessions impossible, that the pair began creating this project.

Songs like “We Will Rise Again” inspired by Australia’s enduring spirit in the face of bushfires, floods and now COVID19. “Follow You Down”, written in a darker moment, is set in a kind of war zone.
“Day by day there was increasingly depressing news. I didn’t know what to believe or whether to stay or go. It’s in times like these that being so far away from family is very isolating”.

“All In This Together” was inspired by the signs of hope coming out of these challenging times.

“Watching the world fall apart has been very surreal, but there seems to be this silver lining of people reconnecting, reaching out to each other with support. I was especially proud to be an Australian during this time. I don’t think things will ever go back to normal, but hopefully we can come out of this with a new, improved normal.”

The album will be released as a series of singles with the first release, In The Deep End out May 15th, pre-order HERE

As an artist and songwriter JVMIE has performed all over the world and released music with Grammy Award winning producers and Dj’s. Her music has topped the US Billboard Year End, Club and Streaming Charts, the Aria Club Charts and she’s been featured on top Spotify playlists and had the featured song on both Apple Music and iTunes.

Proudly born and raised on Australia’s Gold Coast, JVMIE is the brainchild of singer/songwriter/artist Jamie Lee Wilson. Aside from her dance releases, her music features in film and television and in 2020 JVMIE is set to release an album on A List Music distributed by Universal Music.
