The PRWIRE Press Releases https:// 2021-07-26T09:30:48Z Australia’s Entertainers And Arts Community In Heart Rending Video In Call For Support Amid Devastation Of Pandemic On Lives And Careers 2021-07-26T09:30:48Z australias-entertainers-and-arts-community-in-heart-rending-video-in-call-for-support-amid-devastation-of-pandemic-on-lives-and-careers-2 Entertainer James Bustar has compiled a heart rending video in which members of the arts community tell of the devastation of the pandemic on lives and livelihoods and the need for further government income support to be extended to the arts.In the emotion-charged 10-minute video, prominent artists from a wide range of disciplines speak of the loneliness and despair combined with deepening concern that the arts are being overlooked. (Watch the video here https://youtu.be/hlYorBoUmoc or at https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10157888789001969&id=516426968 )They tell of having bookings and income in their gig-to-gig industry cut to zero, which in some cases has left them in despair reliant on family and friends to survive.“I made the video because it was clear to me that the arts community and the people who make it so vital were being overlooked even though entertainment is among one of the most hardest hit sectors,” said Bustar.“Very few people beyond artists’ immediate circle are aware of the depths of despair into which they’ve been plunged amid the silence of government in terms of offering income protection beyond JobKeeper at a time when the covid crisis continues unabated especially with the current outbreak and lockdown in the wider Sydney region. .“The video is an impassioned plea from the arts community for a lifeline to get them to the other side of the pandemic. As one of the artists in the video says, the arts community consists of the artists and entertainers who produce the content that is helping everyone else get through the pandemic and its restrictions but are now in need of help themselves.”In the video, artists contrast how every effort has been made to ensure that the passion of Australians for sport is satisfied but the same priority has not been afforded to the arts.In it, virtuoso jazz vocalist and violinist Fem Belling says: “Artists are the last to be thought of, we are not (seen as) important, we don’t do important things. But I want to challenge every single person out there to go through a lockdown or some harrowing time in their life without music, without Netflix, without newspapers, without books … (it is) the artists who create those things and yet we are the first to always be asked, ‘please donate your services’. The government needs to step up and look after the people that they go home to every night when they turn on their televisions and radios.”In the video there is also a note of defiance on the part of the arts community with prominent keynote speaker and corporate entertainer Anthony Laye saying: “Do we just throw in the towel and say ‘stuff it I’m moving out of the entertainment and speaking world’ or do we hang in there to to wait and hope that things might get back to normal? I want to hang in there because I love what I do.”James Bustar said he hoped the video and the pleas of the arts community would be seen far and wide to raise awareness of how serious the situation had become for many artists in terms of their mental health and ability to support themselves financially and in other ways. “People see the work of the arts community in their lives every day but they don’t necessarily know what is going on in the background or the pressure that individual artists are under,” Bustar said. “If nothing else, I hope the video shines a light on the crisis they are facing and the solution to help them get through it.” VFEST YOUR ONLINE CINEMA EVENT 2021-07-22T00:29:24Z vfest-your-online-cinema-event VFEST will proudly screen home-made Queensland feature films, international and Australian made experimental short films also masterclasses and discussions from leading sunshine state film industry professionals, in a fun-filled, unique and jam-packed weekend event for the whole family. Now, the marketplace aims to close the gap between traditional and digital art and is organizing the first-ever NFT art exhibition and conference in Australia - SIDUS. The event will be held in Melbourne on 7th-13th August at the contemporary gallery SpACE @ Collins. NFT STARS is a new NFT marketplace that was launched in July 2021. The new platform set the bar high with a series of successful celebrity drops from the very beginning. NFT STARS debuted with the auction of the 'Exploration'. The drop was followed by the auction of the artwork 'Singularity' by an anonymous artist. 'Singularity' was sold for 229 ETH. NFT STARS presents many new artists who have already made a name for themselves in the traditional art industry.NFT STARS is pursuing the ambitious goal of shifting the market focus from NFT speculation to art appreciation and introducing more people to the unique world of NFT. To appeal to an audience that knows nothing about digital art or blockchain, NFT STARS is going offline and organizing the first NFT art exhibition and conference in Australia, SIDUS. The event will become a point of entry through which the general public can take their first steps into the world of NFT and discover new facets of digital art.SIDUS will be held in Melbourne at a contemporary gallery SpACE @ Collins on 7th-13th August. The exhibition will present a diverse range of artists, most of which are featured on the NFT STARS marketplace. The agenda also includes an educational program. Every day of the exhibition, there will be an educational corner where visitors can learn the basics about non-fungible tokens and artists can mint their own NFT under the guidance of the NFT STARS team.On the weekends, SIDUS will turn into a conference and host lectures and workshops. The NFT STARS hasn't disclosed the list of speakers yet but the team promises an unforgettable and insightful experience.Except for the opening ceremony, the event will be completely free. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase any of the presented artwork. However, only crypto payments are accepted, so the NFT STARS team will be there to help buyers set up a crypto wallet in case they don't have one."We believe the future of art is digital. Technology is coming to every sphere of our lives and it's natural for artists to portray the world we live in using the tools of our time. We want to break the stereotype that NFT art is only for crypto lovers. Be it a built-in wine cooler or a freestanding wine fridge is an excellent addition to the overall wine experience. Users can take the wine out at the ideal temperature and serve it, thus maximizing the flavor. There are many wine and beverage coolers available in the market, and choosing a beverage cooler can be a tedious task. However, the purchase can be made easy if the user considers a few points before purchasing. Noise These coolers make much noise, and users must decide where the built-in beverage cooler will be placed- the noise will be of no consequence if it is placed in a faraway room like a wine cellar. However, the noise will be a problem if it is placed close to the media room. Shelving Wine is a beverage with special needs, and an ordinary refrigerator will not be enough. The corks of the wine bottles have to be plump to keep out the bacteria for years. Moreover, having a wine and beverage cooler with more space allows the bottles to be placed horizontally to enable greater oxidation. Therefore, choosing a wine and beverage cooler with wooden shelves, metal wine racks, or smooth rolling is the best option. Cooler Construction It is essential to look at the construction of the cooler as it determines how the cooler functions. Built in beverage fridges can be flexibly used, as they do not require much space between them and can be placed as stand-alone units or in between cabinets. On the other hand, a freestanding refrigerator mandatorily requires several inches of free space for proper airflow around the fridge. Cooling Zones Depending on its capacity to cool its contents, wine and beverage coolers are divided into dual temperature and single temperature coolers. As the name suggests, dual temperature coolers provide users with two different control panels for two different compartments, allowing users to have two different temperatures in the same cooler. Single temperature coolers are preferable if the user prefers a compact wine cooler. It is cheaper than a dual temperature wine and beverage cooler. It ensures even cooling throughout and increases the shelf life of both red and white wine. Space The user has to remember where the cooler will be placed before purchasing one. A built-in wine cooler is the best option if there is enough space beside the cabinets. If there is not much space, a freestanding model is a more viable option. Energy Efficiency Given that the cooler will be on all the time, choosing a cooler that minimizes electricity bills is essential. Coolers with thermoelectric cooling use lesser electricity than coolers with compressor systems. Triple pane glass coolers provide good insulation and keep the cool air, allowing for effective functioning of the unit. Every outfit nowadays has a different color of lipstick, different color of eyeshadow, and of course different lengths of eyelashes. There are way too many people who are not satisfied with less and little variety. People now need more and more options even in the context of eyelashes. Now, we are here, in particular, going to talk about a definite type of Mink Eyelash that is 20mm Mink Lashes. These lashes are next on the way after the 25mm Mink Lashes. Let us discuss in a bit of detail about this category of eyelashes. 20mm Mink Eyelash The 20 mm Mink Eyelash is yet another popular and the most wanted brand of eyelash present in the makeup industry. It has been used on various celebrities and has not at all disappointed them. The company produces a large part of these lashes and ensures that the quality of the product is natural and toxin-free. Moreover, they provide free samples of the mink lashes 20 mm which we are sure would be worth it. The life span of these 20mm Mink Lashes is 30-40 times from the day that you have worn them for the first time. Let us in brief discuss a few of such important things. Things to keep in mind before and after purchasing Mink Lashes They are made from natural hair- Unlike other eyelashes, the mink lashes are made from the natural hair of the mink animal. Hence, they are more realistic and softer. They involve high maintenance – The Mink Lashes require high maintenance due to the fact that they are made from real hair. One must not be near water for around 24 hours after applying these and also not near steam for 48 hours until the glue sticks tight. Moreover, these should be combed regularly. They give an experience of Quality and Comfort – Since the Mink lashes are made from natural hair, they provide an overall light experience to the owner. They can be removed off easily – Only little applications of any oil remover would easily remove the mink lashes. Hence, these are some positives that make the mink lashes all the way better to be used. Do not wait! Just go and grab yours at https://www.missangellashes.com/. BROKE was released in 2016 and became an international festival gem and theatrical success story throughout Australian and New Zealand, far outshining its micro budget.   “The idea for SHARKO began over a conversation with dad. There was so much of his life that I wanted to know. I also wanted to celebrate his career and the game of rugby league” Filmmaker Luke Graham.   The documentary has drawn the support of screen funding bodies, state and local government alongside grants from businesses and organisations. Now the production team are engaging their supporters to assist with the final part of the production budget as the project moves towards filming for next month.    “The project has been in development for the past five years and I am very excited to take the next step alongside our partners and supporters” Luke Graham.   A crowd funding campaign has been setup through the established platform Indiegogo, where backers can receive perks including VIP tickets to its premiere, limited edition t-shirts and Posters, they can also be an extras or act in one of the many drama scenes. For those studious supporters they can receive an impactful credit as an Executive Producer or Producer. Businesses can also get involved and have their branding onto the screen and the projects ever growing audience.   Creative Partnerships Australia will also match the first $5,000 received by the campaign through their Matchlab initiative.    The filmmakers have also setup an option for those supporters looking for a tax deduction through Documentary Foundation Australia.   “We have a valuable opportunity to get this project over the line with our first $5,000 matched including some great incentives and even tax deductable donations for those who wish to support the project” Luke Graham.   The project has already received funding from Screen Australia and Screen Queensland, grants from Gladstone Regional Council and the Regional Arts Development Fund amongst others and also has the support of key rugby league clubs and greats of the game.   SHARKO will be the culmination of a person who grew up with footy in their blood. As a young boy, Luke would run up and down the sidelines as the North Sydney Bears ball-boy while his famous dad would put his body on the line, week in and week out to the game he loved, rugby league. Now a father himself, SHARKO will be a love letter his hero and will be about footy, family and fatherhood.   “SHARKO looks at the human side behind one of the world’s most brutal sports during its golden era, the 80’s. Most importantly it will be about my idol, my Superman” Luke Graham.   You can support the project through its Indiegogo campaign here: https://igg.me/at/sharkofilm   Also keep up to date with the film’s journey via its official site:  www.sharkofilm.com  and social media pages https://www.facebook.com/sharkofilm and https://www.instagram.com/sharkofilm/.   END - For more information please contact:  Luke Graham 0414999813 or lukeg@scopered.com HIGH RESOLUTION PRESS RELEASE IMAGE https://www.dropbox.com/t/xEcTc0es6mpOY67x Sesame Street and The Wiggles Debut New Rendition of the Iconic Classic “Fruit Salad” 2021-06-09T23:04:42Z sesame-street-and-the-wiggles-debut-new-rendition-of-the-iconic-classic-fruit-salad Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organisation behind Sesame Street, and The Wiggles are debuting a reimagining of The Wiggles iconic song “Fruit Salad” today exclusively on YouTube. Media release 2021-06-07T23:30:00Z media-release Special eBook releaseAnniversary edition of Julietta Jameson’s Christmas Island, Indian Ocean marks 20 years since the Tampa crisisHow a tiny island and a boat full of refugees changed Australia forevereBook available July 15, 2021 through select major digital bookstores and participating librariesISBN: 978-0-6451128-7-0 “At last, a book that tells us all about Christmas Island: a place we have previously heard about as an entry point for people seeking asylum in Australia, but otherwise a blank spot in most Australian minds.”- Julian Burnside AO QC Melbourne-based author, Julietta Jameson will release a new, edited version of her moving 2003 book, Christmas Island, Indian Ocean, which will be available for the first time in eBook format from July 15, 2021.This special anniversary edition marks twenty years since the ‘Tampa crisis’, when a Norwegian freighter rescued hundreds of asylum seekers from a sinking Indonesian fishing boat and attempts to deliver them safely to Christmas Island were thwarted by the Australian government, sparking outrage amongst humanitarians and attracting global media attention for all the wrong reasons. It is a deeply-affecting account of Jameson’s journey to Australia’s most isolated territory … an extraordinary place, at an extraordinary time.Originally published in paperback form by ABC Books, the eBook version of Christmas Island, Indian Ocean has been revisited by the author, who during the lengthy editing process, found that the questions and issues raised at that time are every bit as relevant and important today as they were then.Says Jameson, “This book came about when, one morning in the latter stages of 2001, I heard an ABC Radio interview with Captain Don O'Donnell, the harbour master of Christmas Island. He was describing the moving send-off the islanders had given the Tampa when she finally sailed away, her human cargo having been taken off her deck by the SAS and delivered to the Australian war ship, the Manoora, to eventually be taken to Nauru. As a journalist, an avid hobbyist on matters of the human condition and from the point of view of my own confusion about this and many other things in my life, I decided to go to the island and see what was going on for myself. “As I set off, Australian public debate on the ‘Tampa crisis’ and the government's ensuing ‘Pacific Solution’ to ‘stopping the boats’ was passionate, polarised and front-page news, which almost feels quaint in 2021, given how normalised and widely accepted strong-arm tactics – some might say cruelties – towards asylum seekers have become. “Editing this book for the twentieth anniversary of the Tampa crisis, as I revisited my reflections of and at the time, it seemed like the questions I'd asked twenty years earlier had barely touched the sides of what was to come. Moreover, the answers I thought I had found had been dashed against the jagged rocks of hardened hearts and minds.“But I believe it is valuable to look at where we came from, in order to understand how we got here. At the very least, the remarkable humanity the Christmas Islanders showed in the latter part of 2001 might serve as a reminder of the humanity in us all.” ABOUT THE AUTHORJulietta Jameson is an Australian author who has lived and written in Los Angeles, London, Sydney and Melbourne as well as more remote places such as Australia’s Christmas Island for this book, the New South Wales outback for Tibooburra and the Legend of the Tree of Knowledge, and Italy, Greece and Switzerland, following the travels of the poet Lord Byron for her book, Me, Myself and Lord Byron. She has also written biographies and her journalistic career has spanned the gamut: hard news, finance, the arts, celebrity and travel. In addition, she writes screenplays for cinema and TV. Julietta is based in Melbourne, Australia. The series will run over the next eight weeks, with an encore screening of each episode on Mondays at 1pm. It will also be available to stream on demand on 7Plus. Filmed in Benin, West Africa, the series follows life aboard the world’s largest non-governmental hospital ship, the MV Africa Mercy, operated by the charity organisation Mercy Ships. The Surgery Ship follows a team of volunteer doctors and nurses as they sail to the poorest nations on earth. They will face the most severe of medical issues, not seen in other parts of the world. Huge tumours left to grow unchecked, massive deformities and more. But the medical challenges are only half of the story. They will also confront ethical decisions as they decide who will be helped and who will not. This is a searing, complex journey for the volunteer medics, as they deal with life and death cases – and balance the fates of these patients in their hands. The Surgery Ship features several Australian volunteers including the ship’s captain John Borrow and his wife, dietitian Lee-Anne, from Sydney, hospital physician Lindsay Sherriff from Port Macquarie, Toowoomba physio Nick Veltjens, Sydney paediatrician Nerida Moore, and infection control nurse Sonja Dawson from NSW’s Central Coast.   The documentary series was made with the support of Screen Australia and Screen NSW. Produced by the award-winning team at Media Stockade in Sydney, the film is an uncompromising look at the consequences of lives lived without access to modern medicine and the ethical challenges in trying to help. On location in Benin, series producer Madeleine Hetherton and the film crew were embedded with the Africa Mercy team, documenting the powerful and inspirational stories of both patients and healers. Some of the stories end in triumph, others in tragedy as the doctors must explain to their patients that nothing can be done for their terminal conditions. Hetherton observes, “The Surgery Ship is also a story about the intense ethical dilemmas faced by individual medics as they decide who they will help and who they will turn away, knowing that there is nowhere else for these people to go.” Despite these complicated issues, The Surgery Ship is also a story about the everyday heroism of both Africans and the volunteers and the human drive to rise above circumstances, to survive, and give the best of ourselves - even when there seems no end in sight. The Surgery Ship series premieres on 7TWO at 11am on Sunday, 23 May and encores at 1pm on Monday, 24 May and continues each week until 12 July.
