The PRWIRE Press Releases https:// 2019-12-10T00:16:00Z Epson Launches Efficient In-Vehicle Interface Conversion IC System 2019-12-10T00:16:00Z epson-launches-efficient-in-vehicle-interface-conversion-ic-system Epson has developed a new interface conversion IC for in-vehicle systems that converts eDP (Embedded DisplayPort) video signals to OpenLDI (open LVDS display interface). Samples of the S2D13V70 interface converter are now available. Epson plans to produce 100,000 of these chips per month. Both eDP and OpenLDI are interface standards for transmitting video signals to displays, but eDP supports higher resolution video and faster speeds than the more widely used OpenLDI. With the electrification and automation of automobiles, manufacturers will increasingly require higher resolution displays in in-vehicle systems such as instrument clusters and central information displays. As this *1 that control in-vehicle displays. On the other hand, in-vehicle displays that support eDP input are not yet mainstream, and since displays are connected using an OpenLDI interface, eDP output signals from an ECU*1 have to be converted to OpenLDI in the development of in-vehicle systems. To address this issue in in-vehicle systems development, Epson developed the S2D13V70, an interface conversion IC that supports automotive standards. The new product satisfies the strict quality requirements of the automotive industry. It is compliant with AEC-Q100*2 and operates at temperatures up to 105℃. The conversion IC is also equipped with safety functions required for automotive systems. For example, a CRC function monitors whether video signals output from an ECU are being properly received, and the IC supports the design of dual-display instrument clusters, with a splitter function that splits and outputs video signals on two displays. Product features-       Automotive standards-compliant eDP to OpenLDI interface conversion IC-       Extensive safety functions (SPI connection, CRC, blank screen)-       Splitter function that enables video of the same resolution up to full-HD to be simultaneously output on two displays *1 Electronic control unit (ECU)Any of various units that use electronic circuity to control a system, usually in a vehicle. Numerous ECUs are found in vehicles, where they control systems such as engines, brakes, and car navigation systems.*2 AEC-Q100The Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) is an industry group that creates standards for the reliability and qualification of automotive electronics. It was formed by the “Big Three” U.S. automobile manufacturers in partnership with major electronic component manufacturers. The AEC standard is a de facto global standard that has been widely adopted as a standard for automotive electronic components.Follow Epson on social media:Facebook: @EpsonAustraliaTwitter: @EpsonAustInstagram: @EpsonAust Brother Australia announces the launch of the 17th International Quilting Contest 2019-12-05T05:42:03Z brother-australia-announces-the-launch-of-the-17th-international-quilting-contest Sydney, Australia – 3rd July 2017 – Brother International Australia is proud to announce the launch of its 17th International Quilting Contest. Boatigo is a new and improved solution to help recreational boating or fishing boats fill seats!   Tech company, Boatigo has developed a marketplace to bring boat owners and users together to limit the wasted seats on recreational boats.   The platform is designed to help boat owners list their spare seats and for the general public to book the additional seats on these boats.   Currently, the boating and fishing communities use Facebook Groups, forums and chat rooms to organise recreational trips. As it is an old and clunky way of operation, it can lead to an awkward exchange of money on the day.   Boatigo will provide the community environment with a convenient, secure and more sustainable way of booking these boat spots.   "Boating is expensive, and every day there are a large number of recreational vessels out on the water with spare seats being underutilised. Boatigo is bridging the gap between recreational boat owners and users, bringing them together in a secure community built on trust. This allows boat users wanting to get out on the water the ability to find vessels with spare seats and contribute to the boat owners running costs for that trip. No more messing about in forums, groups or chat rooms. No more awkward handling of cash contributions on the day," said CEO of Boatigo Joel Keane.   The process means Captains can list any spare seats they have on their vessel when they are going out for recreational boating or fishing, and they can do this for free on the Boatigo site. Crew and even tourists travelling to the area can book a seat and pay securely on the platform.   "Boatigo is going to revolutionise the recreational boating and fishing communities by making boating more sustainable and accessible.  It will allow Captains to receive contributions towards their running costs on recreational trips, everyone can get out and enjoy the water more often for less. We even have secure in-built messaging for communications. Once the trip is complete, we simply pass the contribution onto the Captain, and both parties leave a review for each other at the end. We are like the Airbnb or Uber for those who are keen to go fishing or boating during any month of the year – with the exception that Captain’s trips are run for contributions towards running costs not for commercial profit," added Joel.   "As a boat owner, I am thrilled to have this platform come to surface. It will help with the running cost of my boat and people will be given the opportunity to enjoy the warm weather out the water! It is even a great activity for tourists in the area," said boat owner Brett Atkins.   Boatigo is set to go live at the end of December. To find out more about this platform, please click here and join the waiting list.   -END-   For more information, please contact: Joel Keane | CEO of Boatigo E: P: 0409 598 563       About Boatigo Boatigo.  "Boat" + "Contigo" (Spanish for "with you) Boating and fishing should be all about a sense of community. Sharing knowledge and experience and creating memories. All of our boats are operated by individuals willing to let boating and fishing enthusiasts and tourists join them on their recreational trips.   By utilising all available seats on boats, Boatigo and its community members are contributing to making boating and fishing more sustainable for the future.   You're a Boatigo Captain? Boatigo offers you a great way to earn contributions towards the running costs of your next trip. This can allow you to offset your costs and get out on the water more often for less.   It can also be a great way for you to meet new people that have a common passion for boating and fishing!   You're Boatigo Crew? If you are wanting to get out on the water to boat or fish, Boatigo allows you to search for boats in your area and book seats.   Perhaps you are on holidays without your boat? No problem! Search your holiday location and find boats going out on the water on days that suit you.     Rodeo 4 Life Arena Spectacular Thrills for Charity with Troy Wilkinson Named 2019 Rodeo 4 Life Champion in Australia’s Richest Bull Ride 2019-12-04T00:07:31Z rodeo-4-life-arena-spectacular-thrills-for-charity-with-troy-wilkinson-named-2019-rodeo-4-life-champion-in-australias-richest-bull-ride MEDIA RELEASE: 4 DECEMBER 2019 Rodeo 4 Life Arena Spectacular Thrills for Charity with Troy Wilkinson Named 2019 Rodeo 4 Life Champion in Australia’s Richest Bull RideWhen Rodeo 4 Life the arena spectacular exploded at WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong on Saturday night, this ground-breaking first in extreme entertainment that combined Australia’s richest bull ride rodeo with a full length country music concert did not fail to impress. A packed house of country music fans, rodeo and extreme sports enthusiasts were thrilled when Rodeo 4 Life’s Grand Entry opened to Queens’ We Are The Champions with a star-studded line-up of 25 elite Australian bull riding champions, Rodeo Queen of Australia, Bonnie McLean, country singer Victoria McGee and host John Jarratt, amid a spectacular light show that set the tone of what was to come.Every bull riding champion lives for this extreme sport, its high energy and unpredictability with success dependent on the bull they draw and what happens on the night, Rodeo 4 Life was no exception with the energy fast and furious.Round 1 of the bull riding competition had the audience on the edge of their seats when the thrill-seeking cowboys burst from the chutes drawing on their experience and sharpened skills to stay mounted on John “Happy” Gill and Sons and Matt Besant’s mightiest bulls as they exploded from the chutes to a roaring crowd with Australia’s legends of rodeo, Glen Morgan and Tyler Pendagast calling the shots. Rodeo Clown Big Al Wilson kept the mood upbeat and the audience laughing while Rodeo Protection clowns Gene McDonald and Rodney-Ray (Rude) Mancell risked life and limb to protect the fallen cowboys from possible disaster. When it came to the concert; the power and spectacle didn’t let up when Travis Collins and his band rocked the crowd performing some of his greatest hits for over an hour while the audience cheered and lit up WIN Entertainment Centre with phone torches to much loved music and songs. Then came Round 2 of the rodeo and the competition for the grand prize was fierce as the bull riders challenged themselves against the bulls in the ride of their lives to help save the lives of others in need of organ transplants. With scores close, Troy Wilkinson, 29, from Upper Horton and Marrickville who is ranked 114th in the world, won the inaugural 2019 Rodeo 4 Life Championship title with a combined total score of 169 riding Vertical Exit and Earthbound adding to his string of credits including the highest individual bull riding score in Australia with a record of 93 and the titles of 2015 APRA Bull Riding Champion, 2017 PBR Australia Champion and 2017 PBR World Finals Qualifier.Commenting on his win, Wilkinson said, “The riders always give it their best. We go into every rodeo competing not with each other, but competing with the bulls hoping that all elements come together to achieve the highest score.” “With Rodeo 4 Life, I got lucky. This event has taken rodeo bull riding to an incredible new level,” said Wilkinson. “Holding Australia’s richest bull ride rodeo in an indoor arena, located right on the beach, and combining it with a light show and a full-length concert starring one of Australia’s best country music singers, Travis Collins made it an exhilarating experience for riders and the audience. “The house was pumped, the atmosphere incredible, and because it was for charity, it was even more special,” he said. Cowboy Toby Collins, 27, from Maldon VIC was the only other rider to successfully score in both rounds and earned a combined score of 160 riding White Ice and Vertical Exit and walked away with $7,500 while Cliff Richardson, 28, from Gresford NSW, earned the highest individual ride score of 92 on superstar bull High Flying Akubra. The evening of extreme sport was not without its thrills and spills when Jono Couling, 26, from Singleton, was thrown in Round Two having a dramatic run in with B.F.G. which left audiences shocked. Couling said, “It’s a dangerous sport and that sort of thing is part and parcel of being a bull rider. It happens from time to time. I don’t feel too bad, there’s nothing majorly wrong with me just a cracked shoulder blade and some scrapes. I’ve had worse injuries and I’m looking forward to my next rodeo at Christmas.”Producer Doug Vickers OAM was delighted with the outcomes saying, “Rodeo 4 Life had 4 primary objectives; to raise wide-spread awareness of the life-saving work of the RPA Transplant Institute and funds to support their vital research; to increase awareness of the importance of organ donation; and, to create an arena spectacular that would thrill and entertain our audience.” “Through combining a full-length country music concert with the extreme sport of rodeo bull riding, Rodeo 4 Life achieved all of this and so much more,” he said. “Travis Collins gave an incredible performance and every one of our bull riding champions rode their hearts out to give the audience a show they’ll never forget while helping give others a chance at life,” said Mr Vickers. “Congratulations to all, especially Troy Wilkinson who took out the grand prize and the 2019 Rodeo 4 Life title. Together we achieved what we set out to do including generating widespread awareness of organ transplantation and more than $100,000 for the RPA Transplant Institute as a result of Rodeo 4 Life. With exciting plans are now underway to make next year’s Rodeo 4 Life bigger and better, in 2020 we’ll give the audience an even more spectacular show,” Mr Vickers said. Thanks to the funds raised from Rodeo 4 Life, the RPATI will be able to continue with the development of a world first organ perfusion system that will be able to extend organ viability from the current length of just a few hours to become viable for several days. This will allow more organs to be made available for transplant and a greater number of Australian lives to be saved.-ENDS- RODEO 4 LIFE LINKSRodeo 4 Life Website: 4 Life Facebook: Donor Register: RODEO 4 LIFE MEDIA CENTRE – DOWNLOADSPhotographs of Rodeo 4 Life the arena spectacular can be downloaded here: or - PHOTO CREDIT: FRENCH’S PHOTOGRAPHY RODEO BULL RIDING RESULTSCOverall WinnerTroy Wilkinson: - Riding Vertical Exit & Earthbound- Score 169- Prize: $9,500 (total: Round 1 + $2k) Round One1. NSW and ACT Guiding Community merges with NT to create A Place To Grow Together 2019-11-18T03:48:23Z nsw-and-act-guiding-community-merges-with-nt-to-create-a-place-to-grow-together The NSW & ACT Girl Guides community will merge with Girl Guides NT to form Girl Guides NSW, ACT and NT from January 2020 creating a 7,800 strong member organisation. The merger offers a chance to expand learnings and foster collaboration between the state and territories. Girl Guides in NT will have access to greater resources and opportunities through this partnership, with all the administrative and operational benefits of a larger Association. More opportunities will be available to assist with the geographical challenges faced in the NT. The partnership will also allow Guides in the NT to participate in creative initiatives run by Girl Guides NSW & ACT such as GirlMade which supports girls to express themselves creatively. The NT community hope to share their unique experiences and perspectives with the NSW & ACT members, to further support the growth and empowerment of the next generation of Australian women. Letitia Baldwin, NT Regional Manager, Girl Guides NT, is looking forward to this new step in NT Guiding history, believing it will bring great benefit to the girls and Leaders. “I have a brilliant team of Leaders and we will work well with the NSW and ACT teams. It is important to have fresh ideas and the chance to network, especially for our adult members so they can share that with the girls. I want to make this community as big and beautiful as it can be. “I think the opportunities are going to be endless; NSW & ACT have an exciting range of things for girls to do and now we will be able to leverage this and get the girls involved in so many more activities. “It is great to know we’re not alone; we are a part of a large network. I am looking forward to NT standing proud and showing off what we can do,” said Ms Baldwin. Eboney Prentice, Leader Darwin District, Girl Guides NT, has been a member of the Guiding community for 30 years; having had many unique experiences with Guiding including travelling the world, she is now sharing the Guiding experience with her daughter. “Guiding focuses on the community, it encourages girls to think about more than just themselves, to learn from others and give back to the world around them. The joining of our communities will support this Guiding mission and enhance the girls experience,” said Ms Prentice. Sarah Neill, State Commissioner, Girl Guides NSW & ACT, travelled to NT earlier this year and met the Guiding community; she is thrilled to be partnering with them. “I am looking forward to working closely with Letitia and her team who have such a deep passion for Guiding. The girls as always are at the centre of what we do and we know this partnership will enhance their Guiding experience with increased support,” said Mrs Neill. -ENDS- Notes to editor: Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT are devoted to the growth and development of girls. They provide a place where girls can learn, build their skills and connect with like-minded peers. The benefits also extend to the Leaders and volunteers who play a vital role in supporting the girls. Guides work to serve their community and help those in need offering help where they can. They participate in many local activities and initiatives aimed at giving back to the community. Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT offers girls A Place To Grow. Gartner Forecasts More Than 740,000 Autonomous-Ready Vehicles to Be Added to Global Market by 2023 2019-11-15T00:23:36Z gartner-forecasts-more-than-740-000-autonomous-ready-vehicles-to-be-added-to-global-market-by-2023 15 November 2019 — By 2023, worldwide net additions of vehicles equipped with hardware that could enable autonomous driving without human supervision will reach 745,705 units, up from 137,129 units in 2018, according to Gartner, Inc. In 2019, net additions will be 332,932 units. This growth will predominantly come from North America, Greater China and Western Europe, as countries in these regions become the first to introduce regulations around autonomous driving technology. Net additions represent the annual increase in the number of vehicles equipped with hardware for autonomous driving. They do not represent sales of physical units, but rather demonstrate the net change in vehicles that are autonomous-ready. “There are no advanced autonomous vehicles outside of the research and development stage operating on the world’s roads now,” said Jonathan Davenport, principal research analyst at Gartner. “There are currently vehicles with limited autonomous capabilities, yet they still rely on the supervision of a human driver. However, many of these vehicles have hardware, including cameras, radar, and in some cases, lidar sensors, that could support full autonomy. With an over-the-air software update, these vehicles could begin to operate at higher levels of autonomy, which is why we classify them as ‘autonomous-ready.’” While the growth forecast for autonomous-driving-capable vehicles is fast, net additions of autonomous commercial vehicles remain low in absolute terms when compared with equivalent consumer autonomous vehicle sales. The number of vehicles equipped with hardware that could enable autonomous driving without human supervision in the consumer segment are expected to reach 325,682 in 2020, while the commercial segment will see just 10,590 (see Table 1).   Table 1: Autonomous-Ready Vehicles Net Additions, 2018-2023   Use Case   2018   2019   2020   2021   2022   2023 Commercial 2,407 7,250 10,590 16,958 26,099 37,361 Consumer 134,722 325,682 380,072 491,664 612,486 708,344 Total 137,129 332,932 390,662 508,622 638,585 745,705 Source: Gartner (November 2019) Lack of Regulation Inhibiting Autonomous Vehicle Deployment Today, there are no countries with active regulations that allow production-ready autonomous vehicles to operate legally, which is a major roadblock to their development and use. “Companies won’t deploy autonomous vehicles until it is clear they can operate legally without human supervision, as the automakers are liable for the vehicle’s actions during autonomous operation,” said Mr. Davenport. “As we see more standardised regulations around the use of autonomous vehicles, production and deployment will rapidly increase, although it may be a number of years before that occurs.”   Sensor Hardware Costs a Limiting Factor By 2026, the cost of the sensors that are needed to deliver autonomous driving functionality will be approximately 25% lower than they will be in 2020. Even with such a decline, these sensor arrays will still have prohibitively high costs. This means that through the next decade, advanced autonomous functionality will be available only on premium vehicles and vehicles sold to mobility service fleets.   “Research and development robo-taxis with advanced self-driving capabilities cost as much as $300,000 to $400,000 each,” said Mr. Davenport. “Sophisticated lidar devices, which are a type of sensor needed for these advanced autonomous vehicles, can cost upward of $75,000 per unit, which is more than double the price of your average consumer automobile. This puts higher-level autonomous vehicle technology out of reach for the mainstream market, at least for now.”   Public Perceptions of Safety Will Determine Growth Vehicle-human handover safety concerns are a substantial impediment to the widespread adoption of autonomous vehicles. Currently, autonomous vehicle perception algorithms are still slightly less capable than human drivers.   “A massive amount of investment has been made into the development of autonomous vehicle perception systems, with more than 50 companies racing to develop a system that is considered safe enough for commercial use,” said Mr. Davenport. Gartner predicts that it will take until 2025 before these systems demonstrate capabilities that are an order of magnitude better than human drivers.   To accelerate this innovation, technology companies are using simulation software powered by artificial intelligence to understand how vehicles would handle different situations. This enables companies to generate thousands of miles of vehicle test data in hours, which would take weeks to obtain through physical test driving. “One of the biggest challenges ahead for the industry will be to determine when autonomous vehicles are safe enough for road use,” said Michael Ramsey, senior director analyst at Gartner. “It’s difficult to create safety tests that capture the responses of vehicles in an exhaustive range of circumstances. It won’t be enough for an autonomous vehicle to be just slightly better at driving than a human. From a psychological perspective, these vehicles will need to have substantially fewer accidents in order to be trusted.” Gartner clients can read more in "Forecast Analysis: Autonomous Vehicle Net Additions, Internet of Things, Worldwide.”   *For Editors Gartner defines a vehicle with autonomous driving functionality as a vehicle able to offer automation of SAE Levels 3 and above. Gartner’s forecast covers autonomous vehicles that are fitted with hardware (in-vehicle technologies and sensors, such as lidar, radars and cameras) capable of driving without human supervision (SAE Levels 3, 4 and 5). One Aussie couple share their inspirational tale of how to do a sabbatical just right 2019-11-12T12:40:07Z one-aussie-couples-share-their-inspirational-tale-of-how-to-do-a-sabbatical-just-right Taking sabbatical leave is something many people dream of, but making it a reality can often feel a lot more complicated. However, one Aussie couple have found a new solution which is perfect for budget-conscious travellers, giving them the chance to travel the world and save money in the process.  Now, they’re ready to share their own travel success story with a wider audience – helping to inspire anyone approaching burnout to take a break, reset and refresh!  Stepping away from life as we know it comes with many great benefits, as two London-based Australians, Sarah Blinco and Cooper Dawson, know all too well. Battling anxiety and stress caused by their 21st-century lifestyles, the pair quit their jobs to travel and pet-sit.  Today’s estimates suggest that modern 30-somethings won’t retire until they reach their 70s, which seems a long time to live with discontent and a couple of short breaks per year. This is what prompted the pair, both in their 40s, to make a leap of faith. Determined to show others what’s possible, they sold everything and have now been on the road for more than six months.  “There’s lots of misconceptions about travel for extended periods of time,” says Sarah. “We wanted to show that it’s possible to take a career break at any age. I turned 40 and applied for sabbatical leave from my busy communications job in London. My job is held for me for a year, and I have the chance to reset, re-frame and do something amazing with my time. Cooper has done the same thing, taking time away from his teaching career.” The couple are eager to stress that any obstacles can be got around with some ingenuity and imagination. “We always wanted to travel beyond a week here or there, but we were stopped by the usual fears,” says Sarah. “What if the work world changed while we’re gone? Now we’re making it happen – and we’ve never been happier.”  Their plan has so far seen them embrace travel as an opportunity for growth, applying to house sits and quickly accumulating a long list of bookings. They’ve since taken care of more than 20 dogs, two horses and a cat – all while saving thousands per month in accommodation costs.  Some of the major benefits of taking a sabbatical include improved confidence, and the space to explore new ways of working, too. While travelling, Sarah and Cooper are experimenting with online businesses and freelancing. CN Traveller reported in early-2019 that by 2020, more than 50% of the UK and USA’s workforce would be freelance. It may sound like a staggering figure, but this represents larger societal changes which are prompting more and more people to adopt a new approach to both life and work.  Sarah and Cooper are happy to discuss how they planned their sabbatical, travel and house-sitting. They have plenty of advice to share and are available for interviews or to be used in case studies.  To find out more about their unique journey, head to their online home at or find them on YouTube at Life Legacy Love Book 2019-11-03T22:10:51Z life-legacy-love-book When Tania Howard began working in the funeral industry in her 20s, her healthy and vibrant mother suggested now was a good time for them to have a talk about life and death. There were many things her mum wanted to share about her life and arrangements for when one day in that very distant future that time came in her life. This conversation was the inspiration for a new book Tania has published to help other families prepare to meet their loved one’s final wishes. As they explored her life and legacy, gathering photos, sharing stories, experiences, wishes and ensuring all documents where in order and easy to find. Together they realised the power of having all this information in one place, removing any additional burdens when the time came. Little did Tania and her brother realise her end would be sooner rather than later, when just weeks after her 50th birthday, their healthy vibrant mum suddenly died. “It was out of the blue. One day I was talking to her and then the next she was gone. It was the worst feeling being told there was nothing that could be done, and we made the decision to turn off the machines,” Tania said. “But despite how horrible we felt, because mum and I had spent time talking about her wishes, I knew exactly what to do. I knew how to access her money to fund the beautiful memorial for her, what she wanted to be buried in, what stories to share at her funeral and little bits about her life that I would never had known about if we had not have those conversations.” Realising how hard it is for people to discuss death and the passing of a parent with their children, Tania and her mum, Ceridwen created Life, Legacy and Love – a record of my life and final wishes as  guide and tool to use to gather the important information such as personal details – tax file number, Medicare number, wedding date, occupation, assets list, where important documents are stored but also highlights from their life, bucket list items and the family tree. “So many think the moment you talk about death, you are being morbid or signing your life away, or all of a sudden if you make arrangements you will suddenly catch “death” but it is more about getting on with life and letting more people know about who you are. Not having these conversations leads to more stress at a time when it is not needed, legal disputes or family arguments over who is doing what,” Tania said. “By taking the time to have these conversations, it can save a lot of pain and confusion. “When my mum died, I knew she didn’t want to be dressed in her best. We have talked about it and she wanted to be buried in her favourite tracksuit and Ugg boots. I would never have known that if we hadn’t talked about it.” Stage one of Life, Legacy and Love is in print but Tania has plans to publish the book digitally. “My children never got a chance to meet my mum, but they can look at the book and see photos of her and read about what she loved doing, things she liked and disliked,” Tania said. “I know we all think are parents are invincible, but we are all going to go one day. Being able to help people make informed decisions is in power and this free book is my way of giving back and sharing my mum’s legacy.”
