Queenslander Brad Sugars is recognised as the world's top business coach establishing ActionCoach in 1993. It has since grown to more than 1,000 business coaching franchise operators in 62 countries. With a number of businesses under his belt, entrepreneur Richard Maloney developed the neurologically-designed Engage & Grow programs drawing on his extensive experience in elite and local sports coaching and as a master neuro-linguistic programming practitioner.  Maloney has helped 40 teams from sports such as Australian rules football and cricket to reach a grand final with 27 achieving a premiership. He has also played in six winning premierships in the QAFL, VFL and WAFL including Subiaco FC in 2004 where he was the premiership captain. “I was always passionate about human behaviour and I figured out there is a system to creating premiership teams when it comes to getting the most out of people,” Maloney said. The winning principles that Maloney used on the sports field were brought to the arena of business performance and leadership when he launched into the business world two and a half years ago.  Following the alarming results of Gallup’s poll on employee engagement, which found that 76 per cent of employees in Australia are not engaged or actively disengaged at work, it confirmed to Maloney that traditional leadership and employee training doesn’t get the results businesses are seeking.  “So I reverse engineered the success I was getting in the sports industry and designed a unique methodology that transforms attitudes in the workplace from ‘just turning up’ to being ‘creatively excited’. “Once I had achieved a high level of success in the business world with a large number of organisations in 15 countries implementing the Engage & Grow program, I wanted greater global traction. “Creating global brand awareness and establishing a strategic partnership was the quickest way to achieve this. I identified that Brad Sugars, the world’s best business coach, would be the global identity to help me reach my goal,” Maloney said. “I then had to prove myself to him. Through extensive discussions and successful trials, I convinced Brad Sugars to invest in my business.  “His expertise in growing businesses and overcoming challenges has shown me that I can achieve my 12-month goal of selling master franchises in the UK, US, Asia, Latin America and Australia, and appointing 300 licenced mentor coaches across the globe.” Engage & Grow already has more than 50 employee engagement advisors selling its Group Activation System™ in 15 countries.  Interestingly, the system doesn’t have any theory with participants taking action straight away. “Engage & Grow is disrupting the learning & development industry and is proving that it’s the quickest way to create organisational business success in the world today. “Traditional teaching and learning is slow and old. We have to change the way we create leaders. The best organisations have a critical mass of leaders, which creates a higher level of engagement, productivity and profit.” Following completion of the Engage & Grow signature 12-week program, the average increase in engagement for all organisations is 100 per cent (double). This is measured through independent online surveys as part of the program.www.engageandgrow.com.au EndsAbout Richard Maloney & Engage & Grow: Since 2004, Richard Maloney has worked with hundreds of teams, athletes, leaders and businesses, moving them out of the doldrums and into the winner’s circle. He has also been involved with eight elite Australian sporting organisations either as an athlete, in a commercial capacity or as a leadership coach, including three years with the Western Bulldogs where he was leadership and cultural coach from 2011 to 2014. In 2014, Richard Maloney wrote The Minds of Winning Teams: Creating Team Success Through Engagement & Culture, a handbook for business and sporting clubs seeking to reinvent their cultures and fast track a more productive and profitable environment. Engage & Grow’s Group Activation System helps business coaches, business leaders, HR and Learning & Development Managers create fully engaged employees# in only a matter of weeks and months, with programs designed for leaders in all industries including government.  Programs are different to traditional leadership practices that produce low engagement because they are neurologically designed. To create greater engagement many of the archaic methods have to be rejected and instead ones known to have the greatest impact on inspiring human performance in the workplace must be adopted. # Employee engagement means: - Getting people to love coming to work - Having employees inspired to be at work - Getting people to perform at their best Note 1: A Gallup poll found that 76% of employees in Australia are not engaged or actively disengaged at work with only 24% of employees engaged. For this installation, 122 Enphase Microinverters and Suntech Tier One solar PV modules will be provided. The system will be designed and installed by Living Energy Solutions at the TLC for Kids headquarters in Brunswick West in Victoria.   When the solar PV system is commissioned in August, it is expected to provide almost 100 percent of the charity’s energy during the day. This will result in savings of up to $350,000 from power bills during the lifetime of the system’s operation allowing TLC for Kids to redirect this funding towards crucial services in over 400 children’s hospitals across Australia.   The system was donated at a fundraising event held at Progression Fitness Club owned by the Captain of Collingwood Football Club, Scott Pendlebury and his wife Alex. Collingwood players and celebrity supporters rallied behind a full day event at the club where guests had the chance to play off against Scott in a trick shot challenge to raise funds for TLC for Kids.   Enphase Energy, Suntech and Living Energy Solutions who had installed an 8 kilowatt solar PV system for Progression Fitness Club in June, rallied together to donate a system to TLC for Kids for the fundraising event.   Tim Conolan, CEO of TLC for Kids and 2014 Australian of the Year Local Hero recipient, said, “We are touched by this amazing show of generosity and would like to extend our sincere thanks to Enphase, Living Energy and Suntech. A solar system at TLC for Kids’ headquarters in Brunswick is a gift that will keep on giving. This system promises to relieve our charity of many years’ worth of power bills, meaning that hundreds of thousands in funds can be redirected to kids and families in need.”   Nathan Dunn, Managing Director of Enphase Asia-Pacific said, “Many charities across Australia, despite the the importance of their work, go completely without government support. In addition, they and forced to deal with added pressure from rising power prices which have more than doubled since 2007. Solar helps to shield these vital organisations from power price rises, and Enphase is delighted to support TLC for Kids with this donation.”   Peter Novak, National Sales Manager of Suntech Australia said, “Being a non for profit organisation, charities like TLC for Kids are exposed to the rising cost of energy. Sourcing energy from the sun will make a significant reduction to their electricity bills allowing TLC for Kids to funnel valuable donations to those that need it most.  Suntech are proud to support TLC for Kids with our donation of solar panels.   Ben Lovell, Director at Living Energy said, "We have seen the work TLC for Kids does and we couldn't be happier to support this important cause. We are a family oriented company and we recognise that nothing is more important than the health and wellbeing of our kids. Solar is a great way for charities to future-proof themselves for years to come, and Living Energy is privileged to be in a position to be able to give back in this way."   Rushing a sick child to hospital and enduring long-stay admissions can be a stressful, world-shattering event. TLC for Kids is a children’s charity dedicated to providing support to sick kids and their families during these challenging times. Their services are delivered swiftly and without the need to undergo lengthy processes, evaluations, interviews or waiting times.     ENDS   Note to Editor: Download a photo from the event featuring (from left to right): Jess Christiansen from Living Energy: Solar & energy efficiency, Peter Novak from Suntech, Tim Conolan from TLC for Kids, Scott Pendlebury and Andrew Kent from Enphase Energy   https://www.dropbox.com/s/wh4luomkca2rv7j/TLC%20for%20Kids%20Charity%20Day.jpg?dl=0     About Enphase Energy Enphase Energy, a global energy technology company, is leading the charge to bring smart, connected solar energy to every home, business and community. Scott Pendlebury’s Progression Fitness Club to be one of the First health clubs in Australia to install Smart Solar and Storage 2016-07-12T20:29:17Z scott-pendlebury-s-progression-fitness-club-to-be-one-of-the-first-health-clubs-in-australia-to-install-smart-solar-and-storage MELBOURNE, Australia – July 13 2016 – Enphase Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENPH), a global energy technology company, announced today that its installation partner, Living Energy, has installed a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system in a fitness club owned by Collingwood Football Club captain, Scott Pendlebury.   The solar PV system was installed at the Cremorne training facility by Living Energy Solutions using Enphase Microinverters and Suntech One modules. Compelled by climate change issues and the desire for greater personal responsibility towards the environment, Pendlebury wanted to incorporate solar PV as a way of leading by example.   Spread across 450sqm, Progression Fitness Club boasts a main arena with premium Iron Edge training equipment, a 3-lane IAAF certified athletics track, boxing zone, 25-bike cycle room, heated yoga loft and designer change rooms. Led by specialist instructors, classes include HIIT Sweat, Strength, Cycle, Boxing, Yoga and Pilates.   Scott Pendlebury, partner at Progression Fitness Club and captain of Collingwood Football Club said, “From the word go, we wanted to provide a holistic health and wellness experience. Our members are driven to live fit and clean lifestyles and that extends to the environment. Now that we have our solar monitoring live on display in our lounge, the members can see what it’s generating and feel proud that their training is environmentally friendly.”   While the solar PV system currently provides more than 100 percent of the club’s daytime energy requirements, not all of their energy consumption occurs during solar hours meaning they still rely on grid power for their morning and evening classes. The installation of the modular and scalable Enphase Storage System will bring the club closer to being carbon-neutral.   Pendlebury said, “We’re extremely proud to be setting an example by being one of the early adopters of energy storage. We did our research and Enphase’s smart system was the obvious choice. When the Enphase AC Batteries are installed in August, we want the club to be energy-self sufficient but stay connected to the grid for the odd occasions when more power is needed.”   Nathan Dunn, managing director of Enphase Asia-Pacific said, “We are delighted to have been selected by Scott Pendlebury to help Progression Fitness Club go green. More and more Australians are seeing the benefits of smart, distributed generation. We congratulate the club on the example they’ve set and we look forward to seeing the additional benefits brought by installing the Enphase Storage System.”   Progression Fitness Club members will get a glimpse of how much solar energy has been produced throughout the day on the TV screens displaying monitoring from Enphase Enlighten™, a cloud-based platform that monitors solar generation and consumption from any web enabled device, with battery storage to be integrated from August onward.   The solar system is being included in Channel Seven’s AFL half time feature segment during the Adelaide V Collingwood game being televised nationally on July 16th. With 19 sports currently on offer, Teamster is designed for everyday runners, cyclists, ball or water sportsmen and women, as well as being a huge benefit to travellers. Whether the user is a beginner or an elite athlete, Teamster will find new training buddies and sort out who is coming to play on the weekend without having to ask everyone individually. After logging in through Facebook, users will be asked to select the sports they play and the skill level associated with each sport, from Level 1 (Beginner), to Level 5 (Elite). Teamster will then suggest the best suited people through its precise recommendation engine. The user can begin Tinder style swiping through the users who play the same sport, with a similar skill level, in their area. A swipe to the right will send a team request, while a swipe to the left will skip the user. On the Instagram inspired activity feed users will be able to see and join upcoming nearby activities that their teammates and other users have created for their selected sports, (an activity is a sports session with a set day, time, location, specific sport and level). The activity map reveals the same activities in a map format, with each activity displayed as a sports symbol in the location that the activity will be taking place. When any user joins an activity the creator will receive a notification, while all attendees will be reminded of the activity prior to the start time. To create an activity, the user clicks on the Instagram-like orange button in the centre of the bottom menu bar. The user can then enter the activity details; sport type, day & time, description, duration, location and select who can join the activity, (anyone, teammates and their friends or teammates only). Users also have the option of posting the activity to Facebook. “As an ex racing cyclist and runner, I realised there was room for a platform that would make it easier for sportsmen and women to connect and see what everyone is doing for the week, it’s something that I wish was created earlier” says 22 year old Teamster CEO and Co-Founder, Sam McCallum. The design and functionality of Teamster has a sporty feel to it, with users’ profile pages as an American style college locker, featuring a jersey with the user’s last name and the jersey number as the user’s age. Users are able to upload 5 profile photos and write a small bio which is all shared with other users. User privacy has been taken into consideration at every stage of Teamster’s development; users have the ability to block their profile from being seen and contacted by the opposite gender, while users between the ages of 13 and 17 will only be able to see other users within this age bracket. Teamster is currently available for free on iPhone & iPad, with the Android version coming soon. However we rarely fail to look at and think about what is perhaps the most important thing we have, and that is our movement quality.   This is something that has slowly come to the forefront of the fitness industry due to the efforts of a few key people but needs a much bigger push into the eyes of the mainstream fitness consumer. One of the biggest progressions made is the growth of the Functional Movement Screen, introduced by Gray Cook as a tool for trainers to use to quantify the quality of their clients movement patterns and give them the tools to create positive change. The increase of popularity of fitness personalities like Ido Portal and their movement based philosophies have led to more awareness and development of movement quality.   While investigation of these systems and philosophies can be worthwhile it can be time consuming and hard to find a good starting point. What we will provide for you here are 5 tips you can implement immediately to improve the quality of your movement.  1. Breathing   Breathing is the fundamental quality of any movement practice. The ancient martial arts and yoga have always integrated breathing into their practice and this is something that modern movement and exercise have neglected.   A great idea to improve movement quality and breath simultaneously is to limit all your breathing during a moderate training session to nasal breathing only. This will have the following benefits:   - balance the nervous system, leading to a flow state - optimize core function - prevent a stress response from exercise - and much more   This is a particularly great idea for cardio exercise and will improve your cardiovascular fitness immensely. It is not recommended for power exercises like Kettlebell swings or Olympic lifting.  2. Self limiting exercises: Put them in your program   This is another concept introduced by Gray Cook. Basically it involves performing exercises that have built in correcting qualities.   An example of this is jump rope. It is impossible to jump rope with poor alignment and form, it builds quality of movement as part of successful execution.   Here are some self limiting exercises you should try:   - Barefoot running - Rock climbing - Battling ropes - Most single leg exercises - Kettlebell presses done bottoms up - gripping the handle bell upsides down   These are a great start to your self limiting exercises. Try them out.    3. Think of training as practice, not working out   This is a huge paradigm shift for most people. Most people go to the gym trying to destroy themselves and sweat as much as possible. This may be fun but it is certainly not productive.   A good idea is to use one day at the gym to practice a particular lift. A good idea is to practice the dead lift. Spend one training session working on form and perfect execution of a lift. As a bonus sided effect of this practice session is that you will get smoked as a side effect.  4. Stop each set before failure   Many people take each set to total failure. This will lead to suboptimal movement quality. It is a good idea to stop the set with one or two reps left in the tank. This will ensure every set looks good.   Another benefit is that it will lead to optimal muscle fiber recruitment. Perfect reps recruit the most muscle fibers needed for the job and as form degrades, range of motion decreases and speed changes you are fatiguing and not recruiting all your muscle fibers. Make sure all reps in a set look the same, from first to last.  5. Try a new sport or activity   Trying new activities can help you improve your movement skills. For example, taking up rock climbing can improve performance in the pull up exercise. Learning dance can help improve movement awareness in leg training exercises.   If you continuously learn new skills and add to your movement vocabulary you will gradually find your movement quality in your training getting better and better.   Try and implement the tips above and watch your quality of movement improve rapidly. Enjoy the movement journey.  For more inforamtion please contact Paul Meldrum from DC Health Performance. It is an unavoidable fact of life that we will all be subjected to many different stressors and have to deal with it. Stress can also lead to many different signs and symptoms and is a leading cause of stubborn fat, particularly on the abdominal area. Stress can cause: Premature ageing Abdominal fat Alter your blood sugar control Ruin your sleep cycle Massive amounts of inflammation Don’t be a victim to stress – take charge of it Since stress is something we all have to deal with and isn’t going away anytime soon, here are our top 7 tips to help you beat stress and drop fat off your abs.1. Drink green tea Green tea is an absolutely fabulous healthy drink and has 100′s of potential benefits. It can effectively mitigate the inflammation and oxidative stress caused by high levels of stress. One thing to be aware of is that a fairly high amount of green tea needs to be consumed for a therapeutic effect. 3-5 cups a day should do it, or consider a green tea concentrate supplement.2. Consume lots of antioxidants Antioxidants are very important when you are stressed as it will help your body produce glutathione, the primary antioxidant your body needs to deal with stress. You need to ensure you consume them with nearly every meal. Berries, dark green vegetables and spices and herbs are ideal.3. Meditate or take up a mind body practice The benefits of these kinds of practices cannot be overstated. For example, meditation has been found to reduce an inflammatory marker called Il-6, which is a sign of high stress and anxiety. The best activities you can try are meditation, yoga and traditional martial arts. Which one you choose does not matter, it is as long as you enjoy it and do it consistently.4. Take magnesium – lots of it Magnesium is the anti-stress mineral and will help you sleep deeply. It is highly worthwhile to consume at all times, but particularly when stressed. Taking it at night time with your evening meal is your best option. Another great option is an Epsom salt bath. This has 2 benefits: it loads your body with magnesium and the bath itself is very relaxing! Adding essential oils like lavender can only improve the experience.5. Consume adequate fats including Omega 3′s All stress hormones that we make are derived from dietary fat. Having a highly stressful lifestyle and a low fat diet is a recipe for disaster as you will not be supplying your body the raw materials to make stress hormones. This will then cause further stress. Make sure you include Omega 3 fatty acids as they can increase the bodies antioxidant capabilities and reduce inflammation. Other good fats include butter, coconut oil, nuts and avocado.6. Consider a nutraceutical Sometimes you need some extra support when dealing with stress. Some of the best nutraceuticals we have found for this purpose are: Phosphatidyl Serine: This is especially effective in reducing the primary hormone of stress, cortisol. It is best taken in the evenings. Holy Basil: This is considered an adaptogen and can help your body produce more or less stress hormones depending on what you need. It is best taken throughout the day. Acetyl L Carnitine: This is a great addition if you have trouble waking up and being alert in the morning. Do not take after 2pm.7. Fill in a gratitude journal This is a great way to improve your sleep and improve your ability to deal with stress. All you need is a diary and a pen and before you go to sleep, simply write down all the things you are grateful for that occurred in that day. This will help frame your mind in a positive late, which will stop your mind from racing at night. Having a positive worldview will also help you deal with stress better with a lower response of stress hormones. Stress is always going to be there and that is something we have to learn to live with. Hopefully the tips in this lesson will help you manage your stress better and you should start to experience faster fat loss on your abs. For more information please contact Paul Meldrum from DC Health Performance. There is nothing more frustrating than eating well, exercising diligently and not seeing results on the scale or the tape measure. One factor that needs to be addressed and can make all the difference in your results is inflammation. Inflammation can manifest in the body in numerous ways. Some things that will cause inflammation in the body include: A poor diet that is high in grains and processed foods High levels of stress Trans fats and a lack of Omega 3 fats Lack of physical activity Toxicity and heavy metals Lots, lots more! If inflammation is ignored it can lead to many different problems. When inflammation moves from acute to chronic it will start to cause cell and tissue destruction. This will lead and contribute to the development and progression of all disease processes. As you can see inflammation is a major problem that can definitely affect your fat loss efforts. Here are the 7 steps we recommend you follow to reduce inflammation.1. Optimize your Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratio. This is the most important step to follow to sort out inflammation in the body. Omega 3 and omega 6′s are essential fats that we need to consume in the diet. As a general rule omega 6 fatty acids are inflammatory and found in high amounts in the diet. Omega 3′s are anti-inflammatory and are not consumed enough. You can increase your consumption of oily fish like salmon or supplement with fish oil. Make sure you reduce processed foods in your diet to reduce Omega 6 fatty acids.2. Eat berries to reduce inflammation Berries are absolutely packed with antioxidants which reduce inflammation quickly. They will also lower oxidative stress which is a contributor to ageing and heart disease. Consume these foods on a daily basis and rotate between all different types of berries. Remember to try and eat strawberries that are organic as they are one of the foods most heavily sprayed with pesticides.3. Resistance train 3-4 times per week This is a great way to improve body composition and lower oxidative stress which is a contributor to inflammation. It is ideal to follow a muscle building training protocol to get the best results.4. Supplement wisely for inflammation Supplements can be used very effectively to reduce inflammation. The 5 main supplements we recommend are Fish Oil, Vitamin D, Magnesium, Zinc and Curcumin. Curcumin is the nutrient found in the spice Turmeric which could be the most powerful anti inflammatory herb available.5. Go gluten free to lower intestinal inflammation Gluten is the highly inflammatory protein found within wheat and wheat products. It increases inflammation by agitating the intestinal wall of the small intestine. Gluten can be found in many different products so take care to read all food labels. Following a Paleo food template may be a good idea to reduce inflammation.6. Heal the gut A healthy gut leads to a healthy body. If the gut has high levels of inflammation and damage it can totally stop fat loss. Some ways to improve gut health include taking probiotics and glutamine, drink more water and increasing fiber intake.7. Balance your blood sugar The reasons for this are two fold: Unbalanced blood sugar is inflammatory in and of itself and when your blood sugar drops you will be more likely to eat high sugar and highly inflammatory foods. If you feel inflammation is one of the things holding you back try and follow the advice in this article. You should see some quick drops in body fat.   For more information please contact Paul Meldrum from DC Health Performance. The debate about the importance of calories has raged on in the fat loss industry for the last 20 years. Many people claim they are all that matter while other camps claim they are irrelevant. In our opinion they matter, but they are a part of the bigger picture. If you have addressed blood sugar, inflammation, food intolerances, stress and hormonal balance then addressing your unique calorie needs can really help you accelerate your fat loss results. Here is what we tell our clients to do to maximise their results when trying to drop fat by manipulating their calories.1. Ensure you are eating enough calories The most common problem we see when working with clients is that they are not eating ENOUGH calories. If you do not eat enough calories your body will slow down your metabolic rate to maintain balance. If you keep eating too low an amount your body will refuse to burn fat.  2. Work out the amount of calories you need for your goal To lose fat you need to eat the right amount of calories for your goals. Here is a good rule to follow to ensure you eat enough calories to maintain a good metabolic rate and have a weekly calorie deficit. To work out your number take your bodyweight in pounds (kg x22) and multiply this by 12 and 14. This will give you your calorie range. For example, a 60 kg person would have to eat between 1584 and 1848 calories per day to lose fat. Staying in this range consistently will guarantee results.3. Ensure you have a weekly calorie deficit The most important factor when looking at calories for fat loss is ensuring you have a deficit in calories over the course of a week. A deficit of 500-1000 calories per week will lead to great results.4. Every now and then cycle your calorie intake. Every now and then a great way to accelerate progress is to increase your calorie intake rapidly and then return to your baseline level. When you do this, it will stimulate your bodies metabolic system to burn fat faster and when you return to your baseline you can take advantage of the faster metabolic rate. Try not to go crazy when you do this, 1.5 times normal is ideal.5.Track your calories to ensure consistency To ensure compliance using a simple calorie tracking tool can really help you to identify if you are sticking to what you have to do. Many people find when they do this they quickly learn how far off they really are from what they need. Calories can hep you achieve optimal fat loss if the primary factors we have already discussed have been addressed. In the next part of this series we will teach you all about the importance of different macronutrients and how to manipulate them for the ultimate fat loss results and to get in the best shape of your life. For more inforamtion please contact Paul Meldrum from DC Health Performance. Use it with recycled plastic bottles or new water bottles. Keep it in your rucksack, camping gear, handbag, car, baby buggy, sports kit or first aid kit. Wash when and where you need it. After several rounds of prototyping, SpaTap have created sleek and functional prototypes out of medical grade materials and have tested them in both the National Parks of Queensland and the Beaches of The Sunshine Coast.   It’s a project they’re very excited about.  However, “As a start-up, our self-financing limit has been reached,” says Stuart Mason, Founder of SpaTap.  Therefore, Stuart and the SpaTeam have taken their idea to Kickstarter.com in an attempt to raise $40,000 in 30 days. Mason says, “We have set our funding target lower than we actually want to raise, because Kickstarter campaigns operate under an  ‘all-or-nothing’ funding model so we want to make sure we  reach  our goal at the end of 30 days and we need people to back us right now.” The Numerous uses of the  SpaTap include: camping, surfing, sport, barbequing, outside latrines, inside field kitchens, temporary housing, cleaning a baby, showering cubicles, mobile doctors, first aid tents, trekking, fishing, on a boat, in a car, in the garden, before eating, or doing the dishes! Anywhere you need a tap, SpaTap is the portable answer. SpaTap Founder Stuart Mason remarked, “For too long plastic bottles have been going into the ocean or landfill. Lack of awareness and alternative uses of this resource continues to have dire consequences for our marine health, wildlife and pollution. Recycling is great but is only part of the answer, we can also upcycle which is the top of the list as far as environmentally friendly procedures go. Upcycling is re-purposing a waste material and turning it into something useful.” SpaTaps’s unique ability to instantly transform a plastic bottle into a flow controllable tap has already gathered interest from international aid and relief agencies, as a hygiene and sanitation solution for emergency and disaster situations and backers from all corners of the world have embraced this eco friendly product from the moment of launch.  To find out more visit the SpaTap Kickstarter page and watch the video. To follow their project, be sure to find them on https://twitter.com/spatap and https://www.facebook.com/spatap and spread the word to your social media networks.  Consider donating as little as $1 to help their project come to life.  If you decide to donate more, you might be among the first in the world to travel  with a pocket sized water saving shower.
