The PRWIRE Press Releases https:// 2020-05-28T01:12:31Z The Greenwall Company introduce new greening options 2020-05-28T01:12:31Z the-greenwall-company-introduce-new-greening-options The Greenwall Company have been reclaiming the built environment by clothing building facades and indoor spaces for over 30 years. Their signature and patented soilless modular installations can be seen across Australia, with locations including the award-winning Origin Energy head office in Melbourne and the famous Qantas First Class Lounge at Sydney’s International Airport. Following testing and successful installation, The Greenwall Company is releasing their new checkerboard walls, cacti/tree planters and bespoke pot-free outdoor planters. Mark Paul, Horticulturist and founder of The Greenwall Company says, “We’re excited to officially launch the new design options as I feel they will provide real solutions for those looking to green their homes or commercial space. These new designs are really for people or businesses who don’t have the standard blank concrete wall to work with, are looking for something standout or simply have an awkward space or lack of it. “All of our installations, big or small, are planted with our patented soilless media which is made from 94% recycled expanded plastics that would otherwise be destined for Australian landfill. The formulation is so much lighter than soil, even when wet, greatly reducing the structural load and need to reinforce the surface they are being applied to is removed, making life easier, cheaper and environmentally friendly for the client,” said Mark. The Greenwall Company now offer the following designs for residential or commercial installation. All designs are bespoke and created by The Greenwall Company team: Standard Greenwalls: A soil-less vertical garden grown on the surface of a built structure designed to replicate the growing conditions found in nature. Pre-planted modular panels are installed to create a living skin with unlimited design opportunities. Standard size is 2m x 1m, however they can also be custom built to any size. Pseudo Greenwalls: The pseudo greenwall system works on the basic principles of a true greenwall, but with cost advantages. Pockets of inorganic media are used to grow individual plants, as opposed to full panels that support a mass of individual plants. In time, these pockets grow to form a full canopy across the space they are on. Checkerboard Greenwalls: A pattern of greenwall panels arranged in a checkerboard layout, nominal panel size is 620mm x 600mm. This greenwall panel can halve the amount of greenwall surface area. Thus, the cost is also proportionately reduced. This style of greenwall is a creative/colourful adaption of a greenwall. Blade Greenwalls: This is a small slice of greenwall nominally, 200mm x 200mm x 2000mm. This size of greenwall is malleable enough to incorporate green strips within the facade of an existing building. A blade instantly greens a small area adding colour and life to the smallest of spaces EcoPillow Planters: Pre-planted lightweight gabions in bespoke sizes and shapes depending on the area available. Sizes range from the “Coffin” which is 2m x 0.5m x 0.5m, or a cube which is 1m x 0.5m x 0.5m or 1m x 1m x 1m. Perfect for use on balconies, outdoor entertaining spaces and can be easily moved if needed, as they are significantly lighter than a pot full of soil. Greenroofs: Modular in design, the EcoPillow is a pre-grown living roof that offers all the proven benefits of a greenroof while radically reducing risk and cost of the roofing structure. As a pre-grown and fully encased product, the EcoPillow is lightweight, has built-in irritation which reduces the risks from extreme weather conditions, wind scour or rain erosion. These can be planted across the full area, or only planted initially with 50% coverage, again reducing costs but allowing growth to cover the entire space. All of The Greenwall Company’s greening options provide benefits beyond their aesthetic appeal, including reducing the urban heat island effect, improving air quality and general wellbeing of those around them. In Australia, there are over 6,000 species that can be colonised on both rocks (lithophytes) and on trees (epiphytes). www.greenwall.com.au Afford Supports Inclusivity on Global Accessibility Awareness Day (21 May) 2020-05-21T04:05:07Z afford-supports-inclusivity-on-global-accessibility-awareness-day-21-may Inclusive technology helps Courtney reach her study goal with support from AffordAfford TeleCare is a virtual, contact-free solution to connect people living with disability with allied health professionals for essential wellbeing supportAfford champions inclusive communities across its disability services Global Accessibility Awareness Day (Thursday, 21st May 2020) calls the wider community to consider inclusive digital access for people with disability. Afford (The Australian Foundation for Disability) is a leading not-for-profit disability provider that champions inclusivity in the delivery of all its services – on-site and online. Sixteen-year-old Courtney lives with her mum in Biggera Waters in Queensland’s south. For Courtney, her dual diagnosis of cerebral palsy and intellectual disability makes reading and understanding written words difficult. Breaking down words into syllables and decoding the sounds of letters can cause daily frustration. Despite this, Courtney is determined to achieve her goal of studying childcare education at TAFE. In August 2019, Afford’s Allied Health team connected Courtney with a Queensland speech pathologist. Over the months, speech pathology has supported Courtney to develop her literacy skills. She now has the confidence to write letters to her mum and read her driver learners manual with some support. Working towards her goal of completing her childcare studies, speech pathology supports Courtney for spelling, reading and comprehension. With speech pathology support, a trial of assistive technology, known as the Orcam, was organised to help Courtney understand printed and online texts. Orcam is a micro-computer that reads text aloud. Courtney can attach the Orcam to the side of her glasses. To use the device, Courtney looks at the page and runs her finger under words she wants read. Orcam recognises her fingernail, takes a photo of the text above and reads it aloud. In support of inclusiveness for people with disability across the country, Afford has established Afford TeleCare. The initiative delivers disability supports to individuals across Australia via an innovative, contact-free and virtual solution. Via Afford TeleCare, individuals benefit from continued access to essential care from allied health professionals for overall health and mental wellbeing. Afford TeleCare connects individuals to professionals across a range of services including, but not limited to, psychology, occupational therapy, emotional regulations, and speech pathology on a virtual platform to develop routines and explore meaningful activities during isolation. “Afford TeleCare changes the way disability supports are delivered. The virtual platform gives people access to regular allied health supports from the comfort of their home. Afford uses various forms of technology to provide remote, contact-free care so that individuals receive continued health management throughout the current isolation and social distancing measures,” said Afford CEO, Steven Herald. Faced with more time on-site, disability services like Afford's Jamisontown Day Program in the Penrith region, are taking a fresh approach to supports. The site is incorporating new, meaningful, and stimulating experiences for all who access the service during isolation. Afford (The Australian Foundation for Disability) is a leading disability provider that has successfully adapted to the change in operating environments by establishing new initiatives to ensure continuity of disability supports for all Australians. The organisation credits much of its success to frontline staff. Afford go above and beyond to provide individualised supports on-site to engage clients in meaningful activities during isolation. Team Leader, Leonie Pearson, and her team at Jamisontown Day Program, led by Lisa Chantler, have worked hard to replicate many popular outings and activities at their day program. Activities incorporate skill development, as well as entertainment and fun for continued client engagement. “Visiting the library was a weekly excursion for our clients before COVID-19 restrictions came into effect. Activities that encourage literacy and mental stimulation support client development and wellbeing, so we created an outdoor reading area on-site. We read books just like we're at the library,” said Leonie Pearson, Team Leader at Jamisontown Day Program. Before COVID-19 restrictions, Jamisontown clients enjoyed a weekly sailing program as well as lunch outings to the local pub or club. Leonie and Lisa brought these much-loved experiences to life on-site for all to enjoy in the comfort of their day program. “Going out for lunch is a cherished experience for our clients. They can engage with others and practice skills for everyday life. They build their confidence by ordering food for lunch and paying for it with their own money,” Leonie explained. “To replicate the eating out experience on-site, we transformed our Afford van into a temporary food truck with a menu and tickets for customer orders. Clients developed their communication skills and were excited to participate.” Leonie and Lisa integrate a variety of engaging activities on-site for Jamisontown Day Program clients, including cruise days, a pen-pal club, sensory gardening and treasure hunts. All activities support skills development and help clients maintain a happy and healthy mindset. For the past three years, the staff at Afford’s Oran Park Day Program have supported Mathew to get involved in the things he loves, such as going to the gym and immersing in nature. Adapting to COVID-19 restrictions, Afford worked with Mathew to change his previous day program based supports, to individualised one-to-one support from an Afford Lifestyle Assistant. With assistance, Mathew recently visited Mount Annan Botanical Gardens. The outing combined one of his much-loved interests and provided personalised social interaction for a healthy mindset. “I love going out into nature and enjoying some sun rays,” said Mathew. Krystan also benefits from one-to-one support from Afford. At home, she explores her creativity through art projects. Her Afford lifestyle assistant encourages her to keep up an exercise routine to stay active and healthy. During one-to-one support, Krystan is progressing her numeracy and literacy skills. Gaining confidence in using numbers and letters for everyday life is an NDIS goal for Krystan. With her support person, she completes addition and subtraction worksheets and plays fun maths games. Through books, they read for entertainment and explore new places, people, and cultures of the world. “Recent world events have meant that we have to adapt to different ways of delivering disability supports. With one-to-one in-home supports, our clients can continue to work towards their goals, even while isolation measures are in place,” said Antoinette Imbruglia, Team Leader at Oran Park Day Program. COVID-19 creates added stress in small business community 2020-05-10T20:15:46Z covid-19-creates-added-stress-in-small-business-community New research from MYOB reveals two thirds (66%) of small businesses feel COVID-19 has impacted their mental wellbeing, with 58% revealing the pandemic has negatively impacted their business. The research, conducted with more than 1,200 small business owners and operators, has been released by MYOB to coincide with the launch of a new partnership with leading Australian not-for-profit in the preventative mental health space, Smiling Mind. The new partnership will see four dedicated modules launched in the leading Smiling Mind app to help small business owners take proactive steps to manage their mental health. The modules include Mindfulness Foundations, Stress Management, Relationships and Resilience, and were designed to help small business owners manage the unique range of stressors and challenges they face on a regular basis.MYOB Chief Employee Experience Officer, Helen Lea, said the launch of the new content has come at a time when small business owners really need it.“This new research shows that 67% of respondents have experienced feelings of stress or anxiety trying to work around the new restrictions put in place in relation to COVID-19.“We have been talking to small businesses about their mental health and wellbeing for the last couple of years and working with Smiling Mind on this partnership for the last six months. We could not have known how important these conversations would become as small businesses face a pandemic and business operating restrictions.“As rewarding as it can be, running a small business brings with it a range of stressors and challenges. The research found that over the journey of running a small business, respondents have felt increased feelings of stress (64%) and anxiety (62%). Partnering with Smiling Mind to enable them to create dedicated content for the 2.4 million small businesses in Australia is one way we can help this community,” Ms. Lea added.66% of respondents take time for their mental health, but 28% say they know they should but they don’t have time. Managing cash flow and financial issues, long hours, work-life balance, feeling isolated, wearing multiple hats and a general feeling of responsibility for the businesses success or failure bring with it stress and anxiety. This new program is designed to help manage those feelings.Smiling Mind’s Co-Founder and Chair, Jane Martino, has been a deep participant in the Australian technology scene as a founder, investor, and advisor to high profile start-ups. Commenting on the four modules chosen for launch, she noted that each represented a critical building block for any small business owner focusing on their mental health and is designed to be used proactively to support good mental health.“Australian businesses are under immense pressure right now, and the confronting reality is that these COVID-19 related burdens are likely to remain for months, and potentially years, to come. “This partnership with MYOB has enabled us to deliver free, easily implementable tools to help those feeling the strain. We know that when you allow your mind to enter a state of calm, you have the mental clarity to help your business thrive – we want to deliver a sense of control to business owners at a time where control has been so elusive.” The top five factors that have impacted respondents' wellbeing in the last 12 months are COVID-19 (selected by 55% of respondents), finances (51%), work related stress (45%), lack of sleep (41%) and relationships (22%). It’s also clear from the research that the challenges of working from home are proving difficult for small businesses. Working from home stresses for small businesses: One third of respondents said the requirement to work from home has negatively impacted their mental wellbeingWhile working from home the biggest challenges include trying to separate home life and work life (33%), not having face to face interactions with clients and customers (32%), not being able to socialise with colleagues (29%), sitting at a desk all day (25%) and snacking and not eating the right food (25%). Respondents have found exercise (51%), watching TV or movies (47%), being outside (47%) and connecting with family and friends (47%) as helpful ways to boost their mental health during this time. Winter Warmer Styling Trends to create the ultimate cocoon at home 2020-05-04T23:26:26Z winter-warmer-styling-trends-to-create-the-ultimate-cocoon-at-home With many of us cocooning at home and the cooler weather swiftly arriving, leading property stylist and interior designer, Justine Wilson from Vault Interiors, shares her insider tips to create a cosy and comfortable space to see out the winter and iso blues. “It’s been a very different lead up to winter this year, with Australians in insolation over the past month or even two. Many are looking to take advantage of the down time and tidy, clear out and spruce up their homes. I have five simple tricks that can be ordered online, delivered to your do, and set up (hopefully) without the risk of a hospital visit from falling of the roof!” said Justine. Justine’s top five winter warmer styling tips include: 1. Rich colour tones in lush fabrics: Think textural fabrics like wool, velvet and faux fur. Hot colours this winter are olive, emerald, plum, mustard, burnt orange and deep magenta. To update your home think about investing in new scatter cushions, thick bed or sofa throws or even a colourful plush rug underfoot. You can also just use decorative vases or flowers in these tones to bring a cherry pop of colour. 2. Change your bedding: Winter is a good time to change out your bedding to thicker weight duvets and new linen. The summer trend was lots of simple white or cream light weight linen, but in winter try a textured spread like a waffle or tufted linen design. Opt for deeper colour tones for the ultimate cosy feel and really layer your bedding with a coverlet and a throw for maximum impact. 3. Candles are my winter go to: It’s easy for a home to feel musty and dark with windows and doors often shut to keep in the warmth, so use pretty scented candles will help lift your mood. This year candles on mass will be a big trend. All you need is a round platter, or tray and 5-8 candles, light them all and you have a beautiful centrepiece for your dining or coffee table that will smell great and provide an ambient glow. 4. Mirrors are a great tool: Use them in winter, as they will reflect any available light and make your interior less gloomy, it can also bring the outdoors in. Hang them in hallways, dark rooms and anywhere you can reflect a nice outlook. The more the merrier in winter, and if you can reflect a nice lamp or floor lamp - even better. 5. Create an outdoor room: This would be my top tip this winter, especially with mandatory isolation. We may not be able to travel or go camping, so why not bring the experience into your backyard! Invest in an outdoor fire pit, most councils allow them if you burn only dry wood, get some nice outdoor comfy chairs and string some outdoor solar fairy lights for the full affect! “There is nothing like toasting a marshmallow or playing some tunes under a starry sky - I think more than ever we need to create experience at home,” says Justine. www.vaultinteriors.com.au For further information, images or to speak with Justine, please contact 360 PR: Lisa Solomons – 02 9571 4448/0416 175 518 or lisa@360pr.com.au Hydrate and repair brittle heat-styled hair with Mafura & Baobab Oils 2020-05-03T23:36:38Z hydrate-and-repair-brittle-heat-styled-hair-with-mafura-baobab-oils After sneaking into the market recently, SheaMoisture are excited to announce that the new Manuka Honey & Yogurt Hydration + Repair collection is proving to be a star performer and taking out awards already. Created to assist Australian brands, services and expert influencers, the first 20 businesses to register for the complimentary support service will receive a one-off, obligation-free 30 minute strategy session with PR experts on how to leverage current PR opportunities, adapt current strategies and start planning beyond COVID-19. Lisa Solomons, Founder & Director of 360 PR says, “Over the past month we have seen the world of PR and influencer engagement change once again. Brands, particularly with online stores and services, have the ability to stay relevant and deliver results. It all comes down to how you pivot your strategy and adapt to the changing at-home needs of media and influencers.” Free PR Day is open to all sizes of businesses, big and small, or even start-ups who have an innovative solution or new service to offer Australian businesses or families during this time and beyond. Each strategy session will include: Review of current status and key challenges faced How your brand/expertise solves a problem and making it relevant at present Determine key messages to maximise awareness by acknowledging COVID-19 Important channels to play now based on target audience and changed consumer behaviours Content ideas brainstorm Actionable steps to take immediately “How do we know PR can work at a time like this you may ask? We have the proof. We have seen one of our longest standing Australian beauty brands featured across the online channels of the major networks and beauty websites, Instagram stories of key influencers and social pages with links to buy. This has resulted in a significant increase in sales with product lines now out of stock both online and in major retailers,” says Lisa. Free PR Day Date: Thursday, 7 May 2020 Time: By appointment – available to first 20 applicants only Location: Zoom meeting – details to be provided on confirmation How to register: Submit your brief via our website – first in best dressed! “We want to do our bit to help give back, so what better way than do what we do best and offer our services, tips and advice to as many Australian businesses as we can. If it helps to keep a business afloat and people employed, it’s time well spent for us,” adds Lisa. www.360pr.com.au For further information, to register or speak with Lisa Solomons from 360 PR, please contact: Rachel King – rachel@360pr.com.au or 0423 833 814 "School's out for summer. School's out with fever" 2020-04-22T00:16:54Z schools-out-for-summer-schools-out-with-fever The Editor, "School's out for summer. School's out with fever." Do you think Alice Cooper knew his 70s rock song about holidays would be so relevant in 2020? Thankfully, unlike the song, school is not out "forever". In the Northern Territory, schools will re-open from April 29, and in New South Wales, Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced that students could begin attending school in person from May 11. Other states may soon follow. Clearly, the school experience won't snap right back to "normal". We can, and should, use this change as a chance to question certain "normalities" that may not have served us well. After months of global suffering and tens of thousands of deaths, let’s reject suffering and death when it comes to the foods that we eat by providing tasty, climate-friendly, and cruelty-free vegan foods in all school tuck-shops and canteens. Whenever animals are cooped up in fetid feedlots, crammed in cramped barns, or shot imprecisely in a field and transported in unrefrigerated trucks (as people do to kangaroos), we create breeding grounds for new strains of bacteria and viruses. While we are still learning the origin of COVID-19, we know that diseases such as swine flu and bird flu originated on factory farms. Why would we put ourselves at risk of a new—and even more devastating—virus, when we could easily thrive on vegan foods? In coming weeks, when Australia's kids return to school, let's keep a new "ABC" in the forefront of their minds, and appetites: Always Be Compassionate.
