Founded for members of the African diaspora and all who support our aims, we are dedicated to help provide professional, business and community networking opportunities, in particular through organised events and through the ongoing development of the Skin I’m In website.   We are very excited to announce that the eagerly anticipated 2015 Skin I'm In Gala Dinner event will take place on Saturday 22 August in the beautiful Clarendon Ballroom of the luxurious Langham Hotel, Melbourne and it is our honour to inform you that the Keynote Speaker is Ms Zione Walker-Nthenda.  A human rights lawyer, Zione will speak to the event theme of ‘community’. President of the Incubate Foundation, a not-for profit mentoring organisation that creates programs to develop the leadership potential of African Australians and increase their employment pathways, Zione is also a facilitator, mentor, trainer and an active member of the African diaspora.   Nigel Karikari, an award winning screenwriter and director, will be our Master of Ceremonies.  Despite gaining a degree in Architecture his passion for storytelling led him to his love of writing, editing and directing for film and television.  Amongst his many accolades, Nigel has won both an AWGIE for his short screenplay ‘Love Hurts’, a BAFTA Focus on Talent Screenwriting Award for his short drama ‘Static’, and best Director at In The Bin Film Festival for ‘The Deal’.   With the legendary comedian Tony Woods who will travel from Washington DC to entertain us, as well as Soli Tesema from The Voice, we assure guests of another memorable night.   The event theme is community and wishes to encourage a more collective and supportive approach amongst our diaspora in striving for achievements in social justice, and community, professional and business endeavours and also to acknowledge the many contributions that the African diaspora has made to Australia.   All are welcome to join us and partake in a night of inspiration and celebration, networking and entertainment and a call to action. We look forward to welcoming you.    THE SKIN I’M IN GALA DINNER RETURNS IN 2014 2014-01-07T10:08:44Z the-skin-i-m-in-gala-dinner-returns-in-2014 7th January 2014 The Skin I’m In 3rd Annual Gala Dinner will be held 22 February at the Plaza Ballroom, Melbourne. This event brings together a community of black professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders to network and celebrate the skin we are in.   The keynote address will be delivered by Executive Coach Nesan Naidoo, who is the Global President of Mars Venus Executive Coaching and the CEO of MindModelling Pty Ltd. A highly experienced practitioner, Nesan is an engaging and skilful speaker who is known for his high energy and passion for his craft. The event will see the launch of the Skin I’m In Foundation, a not for profit organisation, that will provide personal, professional and business mentoring, coaching and training to women of African descent.  Founder Debra Ojumu explains, “The Foundation is very passionate and committed to enhancing and empowering the lives of women who we hope in turn will empower others”. The theme of the 2014 Gala will be Determination, which serves as a reminder to us all that to succeed we should have the will to not let any challenge be greater than the greatest vision we have for ourselves.
