The PRWIRE Press Releases https:// 2016-01-27T00:11:41Z Toowoomba Regional Council to save millions per year with new enterprise software 2016-01-27T00:11:41Z toowoomba-regional-council-to-save-millions-per-year-with-new-enterprise-software 27 January 2015, Brisbane -- Toowoomba Regional Council is making some big changes as it transitions into a digital local government, implementing new enterprise software to realise ambitious cost reduction targets over the next five years. The council has gone live with TechnologyOne’s solution designed specifically for local governments, as part of a whole-of-council project to introduce transformational change. “We recognised that our previous business software would no longer support the size and complexity of our organisation,” said Toowoomba’s General Manager - Finance and Business Strategy Group and Chief Financial Officer, Arun Pratap. “We needed to have the latest technology in place to support contemporary business processes and deliver efficient and effective services to the community - which is the whole reason Council exists. “Since going live with TechnologyOne’s software, we’ve already secured efficiency gains in payroll processes and management. “We’re expecting that, with better strategic and operational asset management, we’ll also have a two percent gain in our depreciation figure - which equates to a savings of about $2.5 million per annum. Council will make an ongoing investment in continuous improvement to drive further efficiency gains moving forward, and will make a full return on our investment within five years.” Mr Pratap said the council has required comprehensive change management in order to take such a significant step forward. “We’ve taken a manual, very paper-based organisation and brought it into the digital world,” he said. “Thankfully, we’ve had the leadership and courage needed to make such a significant step-change, and delivered the project on time and just under budget. That isn’t the kind of praise you would normally hear from a major enterprise implementation of this kind. “We’re feeling very empowered now, and this project has just brought our organisation to the starting line for further innovations and efficiency gains.” The implementation brings Toowoomba Council into a growing group of TechnologyOne customers among Australian and New Zealand councils. “We were operating without peers. Most of the other councils around us were operating on TechnologyOne software, and we felt as though we were very much missing out,” Mr Pratap said. “I’ve been around in the local and state government sector for quite some time, and you get to know the local vendors that really know the industry, can understand your business, and have a roadmap for how the software will remain relevant moving forward. TechnologyOne stood out leaps and bounds over competitors - and they have done so for some time.” TechnologyOne’s Executive Chairman Adrian Di Marco said the company’s preconfigured OneCouncil solution significantly reduces the time, cost and risks associated with large scale enterprise-wide software implementations. “We have a deep understanding and engagement with the local government sector, and have built OneCouncil in collaboration with more than 200 Australian councils,” Mr Di Marco said. “The preconfigured approach has proven hugely successful, with customers like Toowoomba Council reaping the benefits of our preconfigured solutions.” - Ends -  About TechnologyOne   TechnologyOne (ASX:TNE) is Australia's largest enterprise software company and one of Australia's top 200 ASX-listed companies, with offices across six countries. Microsoft unveiled its new Microsoft Graph API to a global audience, detailing how it would integrate Microsoft Office 365 with TechnologyOne’s Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution. This integration will provide simple, automated capture of emails from Microsoft Outlook into ECM, tagging the email in Outlook without requiring any additional software installs. TechnologyOne Executive Chairman Adrian Di Marco said it was a great initiative for both organisations, emphasising the importance of the Research & Development organisations working together to deliver a cloud first, mobile first world. “This is a big step in our joint commitment to integrating Office 365 with our enterprise software,” Mr Di Marco said. “It provides a clear path forward for customers who wish to use Office 365 with our software, enabling us to deliver on our promise of transforming business and making life simple for our customers. “This collaboration with Microsoft, and our focus on customer experience, demonstrates our ongoing commitment to research and innovation here at TechnologyOne.” Microsoft has launched a website showcasing its nine new Microsoft Graph API partners, with TechnologyOne as the only enterprise software provider included among the list of cloud-based vendors.   To view the video showcasing the Microsoft and TechnologyOne product integration, go here and click ‘watch’ under TechnologyOne.- Ends -  About TechnologyOne   TechnologyOne (ASX:TNE) is Australia's largest enterprise software company and one of Australia's top 200 ASX-listed companies, with offices across six countries. The company also saw an impressive 17 per cent increase in licence fees. It welcomed more than 50 new enterprise customers this financial year, and signed up 49 organisations for its Software as a Service (SaaS) offering.   The list of new SaaS customers included a number of high profile, large scale enterprises such as Brisbane City Council, Wellington City Council, Australian Bureau of Statistics, Department of Treasury, TAFE Queensland and Mercy Health.   In 18 of the 50-plus new corporate customers, TechnologyOne replaced competitive systems from Oracle, SAP, Microsoft and Infor.   “All our largest new customers were SaaS deals, signifying that customers are embracing our vision for cloud,” said Adrian Di Marco, TechnologyOne’s Executive Chairman.   “The market is becoming more sophisticated in understanding the difference between the lift and shift approach offered by hosting providers, and seeing the benefits in the massive economies of scale SaaS vendors like TechnologyOne provide.   “Other enterprise vendors who take the dirty hosting approach with their software cannot provide the future proof way forward SaaS vendors can.   “Hosting offers a ‘fake cloud’, without any economies of scale. Customers end up paying for incompatible environments, outdated/unsupported databases and expensive middleware to glue it all together. There’s no guarantee you’ll get enterprise-grade infrastructure components or a reliable active-active redundancy model.   “Not only is this approach highly inefficient, it also means customers aren’t receiving the benefits of a true cloud.   “SaaS vendors build the software themselves, so they are deeply committed to it, they run the software for their customers and they invest millions of dollars each year in making the experience better.   “It is clearly what the cloud was always meant to be. The true beauty of SaaS is that when we enhance our solution with a new feature, all of our cloud customers benefit from it - which is something hosting providers just can’t offer.   “We are part of an elite group of companies globally delivering true enterprise software as a service, making our software the premier enterprise cloud offering in Australia and New Zealand. We are also the only enterprise provider offering a fully configurable solution, with a mass production line of servers running our software for our customers.   “Our cloud business is growing rapidly. The major uptake of cloud by new and existing customers has seen us double our cloud Annual Contract value, and we will continue to double this every year moving forward.   “It’s been a transformational year for TechnologyOne. Our success validates our strategy, vision and ongoing investment in our software, as we continue to focus on building beautiful software that is incredibly simple and easy to use.”   R&D continued to be a significant investment for TechnologyOne at $41 million for the full year, representing 19 per cent of revenue, which exceeds the market average of approximately 12 per cent. R&D continued across the company’s Ci Enterprise Suite, Ci Anywhere and the TechnologyOne Cloud.   “Our ability to continue to evolve and adapt both our company and products to a rapidly changing cloud first, mobile first world, has been critical to our continuing success,” Mr Di Marco said.   "When combined with our innovation, creativity and substantial ongoing investment in new and emerging technologies such as cloud computing and smart mobile devices, we are well positioned for continuing strong growth in the coming years.   “With Ci Anywhere and the TechnologyOne Cloud, we will help our customers future proof their organisation by delivering our enterprise software as a service on any device they choose."   More information is available in the TechnologyOne director's report.   - Ends -  About TechnologyOne   TechnologyOne (ASX:TNE) is Australia's largest enterprise software company and one of Australia's top 200 ASX-listed companies, with offices across six countries. The company recorded its eleventh consecutive year of record revenues and licence fees, and entered the S&P/ASX 200 Index on 19 September, surpassing the $1 billion market capitalisation mark.   Net Profit Before Tax is up 15 per cent on the prior full year period to $40.2 million, which is at the higher end of market guidance of profit growth of between 10 and 15 per cent.   TechnologyOne attributed its strong growth to an 11 per cent increase in licence fees, supported by strong customer retention and new product releases. The company signed more than 50 enterprise customers this financial year, including Bendigo & Adelaide Bank, Queensland’s first dual-sector university, CQUniversity and Campaspe Shire Council.   In 18 of the 50-plus new corporate customers, TechnologyOne replaced competitive systems from Oracle, SAP and Microsoft.   “Smart organisations are voting with their feet and moving away from the fundamentally broken model of using third parties such as IBM and Accenture for their implementations, and implementing monolithic systems from the large multinational ERP vendors,” said Adrian Di Marco, TechnologyOne’s Executive Chairman.   “Inevitably, when problems arise during implementations where third-parties are involved, no one takes responsibility. All the parties start pointing fingers and playing the blame game. The customer, their workforce and the community are the ones who ultimately suffer from this lack of accountability, as we saw with the Queensland Health payroll disaster, New Zealand’s Novopay and others like it. Using third-party integrators is truly the worst of all worlds.   “The intelligent choice is working with one vendor who takes end-to-end accountability for building, marketing, selling, implementing, supporting and running the enterprise solution. A vendor that stands behind their product and takes full contractual responsibility from cradle to grave,” said Mr Di Marco.   “Our customers have our complete support and our commitment that the software will be configured to meet their exact needs, but the software itself will not be modified. Once the system is implemented, they do not need to worry about being left behind on an outdated, highly customised system that becomes too expensive and risky to upgrade. Instead, they enjoy the benefits of our continuing strong R&D investment and new releases, which will take their business into the future, and onto the cloud if they choose - with no additional licence fees, or systems integrators required,” he said.   In FY 2014, TechnologyOne also secured 15 enterprise cloud deals including St Vincent de Paul Society, Tourism Queensland, Macquarie University, Assure Quality (NZ) and Aylesbury Vale District Council (UK). “Our ability to evolve and adapt to a rapidly changing world, while remaining focused on what we do, has been the key to our long term success,” Executive Chairman Adrian Di Marco said.   “When combined with our innovation, creativity and substantial ongoing investment in new and emerging technologies such as cloud computing and smart mobile devices, we are well positioned for continuing strong growth in the coming years.”   R&D continued to be a significant investment for TechnologyOne at $38 million for the full year, representing 19 per cent of revenue, and largely attributed to the release of the next evolution of its enterprise suite, Ci Anywhere. Ci Anywhere supports any and all mobile devices and delivers on the company’s vision - any device, anywhere, any time.   “Ci Anywhere has met with a very enthusiastic response from customers,” Mr Di Marco said.   “As we rapidly move into a cloud-first, mobile-first world, organisations that fail to embrace these technologies will miss out on the efficiencies to be gained from a mobile-enabled workforce. With Ci Anywhere and the TechnologyOne Cloud, we are well positioned to help our customers exploit these benefits by delivering our enterprise software as a service on any device they choose.”   More information is available in the TechnologyOne director’s report.   - Ends -  About TechnologyOne   TechnologyOne (ASX:TNE) is Australia’s largest publicly listed software company and one of Australia’s top 200 ASX-listed companies, with offices across six countries.
