The PRWIRE Press Releases https:// 2019-10-21T21:02:00Z New Paradigm Parenting 2019-10-21T21:02:00Z new-paradigm-parenting The “do as I say, not as I do” approach to parenting has reached a critical point of expiration, says thought leader, mindset coach and mum-of-four, Mirjana Boznovska. To effectively create a new world, we must begin at home with our children, turning the traditional notion of parenting “on its head”, she says.“This new paradigm shifts the essence of the parent-child relationship away from the standard parent-to-child ‘I know what’s best for you’ approach to a mutual ‘parent–with-child’ relationship, in which the parent learns, grows and evolves alongside the child,” Mirjana says. “In this model, we consciously understand children are our teachers, our equals—and—our mirrors.”Mirjana says all relationships, including our relationships with our children, is an opportunity to decide, declare to be and become the highest version of ourselves.“When we come from a place within ourselves of love supported by understanding, tolerance, compassion and growth for self, we nurture this quality in our relationship with our children. When we come from a place of fear, control and reactivity, we nurture a relationship lead by our ego.”She adds: “Parents unconsciously, and at times consciously, pass on an inheritance of psychological pain and emotional rigidity to their children as a result of their own pain and experiences passed down by their own parents. Our control dramas are formed in childhood in response to the control dramas of our parents, in turn passed down by their parents. We then continue to pass this cultural and generational conditioning to our own children without awareness in most cases.” We need to make new choices that move away from traditional parenting disciplines, which promote quick-fix techniques for control and behaviour management and discipline. This is a higher thought system that encourages communication and learning. You will begin to learn from your child, accept who they are and not only understand more about them, but also become more in touch with yourself.”Traditional Paradigm ParentingIn order to better understand conscious parenting, we need to understand the traditional paradigm of parenting. This model is hierarchal, dogmatic, linear, controlling, fear based, and a one size fits all approach. Mostly, an external market dictates it: that is, how successful, how happy, how sporty, how academic, how popular, how good and how compliant the child is which is based on the external persona of the child. Conscious Paradigm ParentingConscious parenting is the exact opposite of the above criteria and indeed identifies with the intrinsic qualities of the child. It is non-hierarchal, non-dogmatic, nonlinear rather holographic, and non-controlling. It’s a state of awareness that encourages you to see the child as an awakener, an opportunity for growth. Essential to this is the re-frame that you are not the master/owner of the child rather have been gifted an opportunity to grow along the child. How to Foster Conscious Parenting Habits:Understand your patternsBe real about where you’re atAllow the inner child to come up and healGive to it love, validation, deep compassionWhen your inner child feels heard and validated, it no longer needs to control and come from a place of fear.Conscious Parenting Habits:Observe the mindful play of your childrenStep onto the platform authenticallyUnderstand all reaction comes from a place of fearWhen triggered go outside the heat of the moment – what comes up for you?Media contact: Shannon Dunn, Communeco, +64 22 636 2405 Sydney Woman Reclaims her Birthright, 50 Years After Teacher Changes Her Name 2019-09-28T03:48:28Z sydney-woman-reclaims-her-birthright-50-years-after-teacher-changes-her-name More than half a century ago—a baby was born in a barn in a small village called Dolno Srpci, in the then Yugoslavia. She was named Mirjana, her name to mean “Peace on Earth”. A few years later, she journeyed with her family to a new land, Australia, which would become her home. In her new country, teachers at the school she was sent to couldn’t pronounce Mirjana, so they decided it was “easier” to call her “Maria”.  Though the teacher’s decision to change Mirjana’s wasn’t made legal, it was decided she would be called Maria in order to to fit in and be accepted into 1960s Australian society. This name—Maria—remained attached to her for more than 50 years.  Now, this Australian businesswoman, visionary and changemaker has reclaimed her birthright and no longer associates with, or calls herself, Maria—a name forced upon her at a time when being different was widely unacceptable.  The Maria chapter has closed, and the Mirjana chapter has opened, she says.  “Though this is my story, what I am certain of is that the symbolism of this story reflects many stories and indeed the story of humanity,” Mirjana says.  “Perhaps you’ve been told you can’t follow your dream, or perhaps you’ve been conditioned to think a certain way and live a life to please others in order to feel loved and accepted. Awareness is the key: it empowers you to think differently about yourself and others. It is time to rise up and be the light.”  Mirjana says people won’t always have a choice as to what they experience, but everyone always has a choice as to how they experience it. “The essence of that choice lies in a certain kind of forgiveness. But not what most people think about forgiveness, which puts us as the victim. It’s a thought system that puts us at cause and not effect of our life and empowers us to think differently about others and ourselves.”  She adds: “Experience has taught me to be at cause and not effect, and to never again be a victim of the world. This time, the choice was mine.” ENDS Media notes:  • Mirjana is available to expand upon this subject matter in great depth. According to mindset coach, thought leader and author, Maria Boznovska, the self-help industry, popularised in 1980s, enables people to remain in their comfort zones, seeking “perpetual change and quick fixes”, rather than truly doing what it takes to live the life they think they desire. It is an industry, she explains, essentially profiting from people’s emotional discomforts. “The self-help movement is about getting what you want, making things happen in the world, attracting things to you that are outside of yourself, and achieving goals—that approach is based on a false premise,” Maria says. “The premise is that if you get what you want, it will make you happy. The truth is that if you do get what you want, it will make you feel good for only a short time, until you want something else.” Maria’s Non-Self Help Keys In a social media landscape that loves to-do lists, which are said to lead to a happier everything, Maria says there need not be such goal setting or step-following. Rather, she says, it comes down to two very simple yet deeply powerful keys: Forgiveness. It may sound simplistic, however, if we can forgive others and ourselves, much of what seemed difficult in our lives can dissipate. The more you get used to looking at the world as not coming “at you”, but coming “from you”, the more impossible it becomes to react in the way you used. It is then we hop off the merry go round of self-help. Belief. It is our belief that determines if someone or some-thing has power over us, or not. Our beliefs put us at effect of it. Our job is to work on the cause by how we think about ourselves, our belief system, healing the past, letting go of limiting beliefs and self-sabotaging behaviours and returning to ourselves. When we do that, the effect will take care of itself. “Humanity is ready to surrender to a greater wisdom within itself and lay down the weapons against ourselves,” Maria says. “For many years I was at war with myself, like many. When we feel cut off from our source—love—we experience scarcity. But the scarcity is within—not without. When we feel this lack we try to fill this void externally. This is symbolic of the self-help vicious cycle.” ENDS Media contact: Shannon Dunn, Communeco, Media Notes: • Maria Boznovksa is available for interview, and also as a guest writer. How to Live Slowly (Even When You're Busy) 2019-07-18T22:56:45Z how-to-live-slowly-even-when-youre-busy In the Internet age, many can attest to life speeding up, seemingly out of their control. However, making a conscious decision to look at what isn’t serving your greatest mission or purpose can quickly highlight the necessary from the unnecessary. Mindset coach and thought leader Maria Boznovska teaches that shifting one’s focus to ask better questions is an empowering place to start: “Instead of asking, ‘why do things happen to me’, ask, ‘what is this experience showing me… what feelings are coming up for me?’” Maria says. “The challenge in life isn’t in receiving answers, the challenge in life is in identifying your current questions. By shifting the focus to outcomes or solutions, rather than why this is happening, we’re more likely to remain calm”. How do we remain calm when life around us feels chaotic? Maria suggests: Let go of expectations. Taking time to step back from a situation and let go of expectation can help you reorient your thoughts and view things more objectively. Take a walk, read a book, watch a movie, meditate, connect with nature to take your mind off the situation. You will be much more effective at problem solving once you have taken time to rejuvenate your mind. Re-frame the situation. Once you have taken time to decompress, you may have a completely different perspective on a difficult or stressful situation. Embrace new ways of thinking and view problems from all sides. Self- care is imperative. Just because you have deadlines to meet and people to engage with, don’t neglect your self-care. Not only will losing sleep damage your health, it will make you generally less effective. A tired mind is one that is notable to think clearly, and it is hard to stay calm when you are living in a mental fog. Ask for help. Being afraid to ask for help is a sure way to continue to feel overwhelmed. Reach out to your network and circle—those who have skills and knowledge that you don’t. Feeling like you belong and are supported by people who love and care for you is a great way to stay calm. Visualise the outcome you would like to see happen. Let go of the attachment. Imagine yourself happy, healthy, safe and loved. See a more stable, calmer, friendlier and better outcome. ENDS Media notes: • Maria is available to expand upon this subject matter in great depth. According to author, thought leader and mindset coach Maria Boznovska, audiences are awakening to their need for authenticity in order to engage beyond one or two interactions with online personalties, regardless of how many followers they have amassed. “It is no longer about following the crowd and taking someone’s word as gospel, just because they have been labelled an influencer,” Maria says. “An authentic influencer doesn’t aim to tell people how to think, rather it is in their beingness of who they really are—on and off camera—that demonstrates an energy of authenticity that people naturally become attracted to. The audience can then determine their own truth.” Maria says an authentic influencer does not become “obsessed” with how many followers they have accrued, or with suggesting others should think the way they do. They encourage people to want to think for their own selves and tap into their own truth about any given situation. How to Create Social Engagement with Heart Maria’s tips for creating authentic relationships online: Awareness of your relationship with yourself is key. Are you coming from a place of love, acceptance and embracing who YOU are with compassion and understanding? This is key. The relationship with yourself is what you project to the world. It's how you see others and how you see the world, and in turn, how others see you. Clarify your top three values in life and in business. Are the aligned? These govern decisions you make and are what makes you live in alignment with your authentic self. Ask yourself: "In the context of my business, what are my three highest values?" "In the context of my life, what are my three highest values?" Then, sit back and observe. Are they aligned or profoundly opposite? Understand your message—your why—and then be fully self expressed in everything you do, say, write, and even how you dress. Your message and presence is then consistent. State: "This is who I am. How can I share who I am and be of service to others?" Most people ask: "This is who I am, do you like me?" and then twist and contort themselves to fit in and please the market. Thus, they lose the message they authentically want to share. Understand you are not for everyone. When you try to be someone you're not, there is a huge disconnect. Who you are authentically "being" is the message to the world. Own your vulnerability. Shine a light on where you feel vulnerable. By doing this way you heal yourself, and in the process heal others. This is our greatest equalizer—our commonality—that we all share: we have the same emotions, even though our stories may differ. It's what connects us and makes us feel seen, heard and validated for our experiences. Listen to understand, rather than merely listening to respond. Be interested, rather than interesting. Too often we think as an influencer we must be interesting and constantly make it about us. Without an audience you are not an influencer. Very quickly you realise it's not about you and necessarily your journey, rather it’s about others and how your journey and experiences and message can unite others and bring oneness. Don't aim for perfection - Trying to be perfect is the exact opposite of being authentic. However many people are afraid that if they make mistakes then they won't be seen as an expert. This is what makes you relate-able and how we gain experience and evolve to be and become. An authentic influencer doesn't aim to tell people how to think rather in "being" demonstrates a thought system of how to live congruently aligned. People can then determine their own truth. I do not want people to think the way I do, I merely want people to think: Empowered to think differently about themselves and about others. Why Menopause Accelerates Ageing & What to Do About It 2016-09-15T05:09:22Z why-menopause-accelerates-ageing-what-to-do-about-it A new study is the first to demonstrate menopause makes women age faster. Research from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)[1] has shown menopause increases biological ageing. Two separate studies, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, also found insomnia—often a menopausal symptom—definitively accelerates ageing. “For decades, scientists have disagreed over whether menopause causes ageing or ageing causes menopause,” said Steve Horvath, a professor of human genetics and biostatistics in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and senior author on both studies. “We discovered that menopause speeds up cellular ageing by an average of six percent. That doesn’t sound like much but it adds up over a woman’s lifespan.” For example, a woman who enters early menopause at age 42 will be a full year biologically older, eight years later. This is compared to a 50-year-old woman who enters menopause naturally from 50. Researchers say this is significant because blood may mirror what’s happening in other parts of the body, having implications for death and disease risk. How to Manage Menopause Naturally While the findings may be cause for concern, there are natural ways to support the body through menopause to help bring relief. For 60 years, millions of women worldwide have felt the benefits of the world’s number one herbal formula, Remifemin®, an evidence-based, clinically tested natural alternative for those facing and experiencing menopause. Researched widely in scientific and clinical studies, Remifemin® has consistently shown to support natural temperature management, irritability during stress, healthy sleeping patterns and overall helping women transition more comfortably from menstruation to menopause. It is widely recognised as one of Germany’s foremost herbal products, and has been used in New Zealand since 2003. What is Menopause? Most women experience the symptoms of menopause, some from as early as 35 years. However, on average it most commonly affects women between 45 and 55. Many will find symptoms such as hot flushes, palpitations and emotional disturbances due to hormonal imbalance. According to the Women’s Health Research Institute at Northwestern University, there are three stages of menopause[2]. These include: • Peri-menopause (before menopause); • Menopause; • Post-menopause (after menopause). Oxford Universities Centre for Evidence Based Medicine Studies found Remifemin® provides a comparable decrease in hot flushes as taking low-dose hormone replacement therapy oestrodiol. Remifemin® does not contain any form of hormone and is formulated from a native dry extract concentrate of actaea racemosa rhizome. It has no known contraindications or interactions. The popular natural menopause formula does not contain phytoestrogens or ingredients that can mimic oestrogen like properties, nor does it change hormone levels. It also does notcontain salt, yeast, gluten, corn, soy, colourings or preservatives. Use as directed. Always read the label and if symptoms persist consult your health professional. [1] [2] Going Organic and Why it Matters + Janella Purcell Recipe 2016-09-15T03:59:43Z going-organic-and-why-it-matters-janella-purcell-recipe Naturopath and nutritionist Janella Purcell's Top Healthy Shopping Tips With progress has come short cuts, and nothing has been affected by our need for “now” than our food—the fuel we rely on to not only live, but to thrive. When our food is sprayed, processed, added to, artificially enhanced or genetically modified, we lose not only vital nutrients, but also connection to what real food really is; how it looks, tastes and affects our overall wellbeing. Soil health also largely determines how much nutrition we are able to get from wholefoods. When the earth is depleted of minerals and trace elements, our nutrient intake suffers, says naturopath, nutritionist, chef and bestselling author Janella Purcell. An advocate for the SLOW (Sustainable. Local. Organic. Whole) food movement, Janella also recommends adding high quality wholefood supplementation to the daily diet, in order to “make up for” what’s missing on our modern breakfast, lunch and dinner plates. For almost two decades, Janella has used, recommended and prescribed premium wholefood supplements from ethical and sustainable producer, Lifestream, which has a dedicated range of organic products, certified by the AsureQuality Organic Certification. The New Zealand-based company has been a real food supplementation pioneer for more than 35 years. From spirulina to algal calcium and plant based super proteins; the brand nutritionally covers essential nutrition, optimum digestion, natural endurance, enhanced support and women’s health. “These nutritional supplements are whole-food form, which preserves the nutrients the whole food provides, rather than incomplete isolated components of the food,” Janella says. “The Lifestream certified organic range is second-to-none, from nutrient-dense grasses to protein-rich spirulina.” However, Janella says the sheer amount of supplements available on-shelf is creating consumer confusion. “Just because a product has ‘organic’ emblazoned across it, does not mean it has met all of the requirements for organic certification—an extensive, detailed process to ensure not only are the products organically grown, but also tells those buying the product that you can trust what’s inside to truly boost nutritional intake, without the nasties.” “It can be hard to find your way through the huge range of products,” Janella said. “That’s why I put my name to Lifestream—so people know I’ve done the background check for them.” Janella adds: “Organic products come from sustainable farming without the use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides or other synthetic chemicals.” Janella’s Top Supplement Shopping Tips: Choose products with only natural ingredients; Ensure there is a high percentage of each ingredient; Look for AsureQuality organic certification; Check the company’s longevity and philosophy. While stress, mood swings and low energy have become accepted symptoms of modern living for most women, there is a natural remedy that has helped thousands balance their hormones and take control of their lives. Formulated 15 years ago by naturopath Dr Jeff Butterworth for Australian Olympic gold medallist Lisa Curry Kenny, 30 Plus® NuWoman® is an all-natural daily supplement designed to help women suffering from hormonal imbalance symptoms that can disrupt quality of life and lead to symptoms such as mood swings, stress, irritability and lack of energy. With its all-natural ingredients including herb black cohosh, a long-time favourite of native American Indians, who first spread awareness of its benefits to Europe. After the 1950s, its effectiveness became known throughout the Western World. Today, it is most commonly used to alleviate female-specific symptoms such as hormonal imbalance, oestrogen dominance, premenstrual syndrome and menstruation issues. 30 Plus® NuWoman® uses a standardised extract of Black Cohosh from the USA known for its safety and efficacy. Other active ingredients in the popular formula include: Amino acid tyrosine, which may help balance glandular, thyroid and adrenal function, which can increase energy, prompt weight loss and reduce anxiety; Mineral chromium, which may balance blood sugar levels, increase energy and reduce sugar and food cravings; Vitamins B6, B9 and B12 which may help clear oestrogen through the liver and help to balance hormones. So effective is 30 Plus® NuWoman® that its ingredient profile has remained unchanged since it was first formulated more than 15 years ago. Women around the world have reportedoverwhelmingly positive outcomes from taking the supplement for the recommended minimum 12 weeks. 30 Plus® NuWoman® does not interact with the contraceptive pill, and in many cases can help deal with the hormonal imbalance caused by it. Revolutionary Protein Powder launches in New Zealand 2016-01-20T03:14:45Z revolutionary-protein-powder-launches-in-new-zealand Lifestream has formulated a revolutionary protein powder developed from highly nutritious marine microalgae, which provides more protein per 100g than any animal source[1]. PURE PROTEIN is a bioavailable, vegetarian wholefood sourced from superfood chlorella, known for its nourishing properties, as well as its high protein content. New Zealand owned and operated; Lifestream International has provided Australasia and the world with clean, ethical, real food supplements for 35 years. PURE PROTEIN is the latest wholefood release, which joins a suite of more than 50 products including long-time bestsellers, Spirulina and Aloe Vera juice. Why You Need Protein Modern diets, stress and physical activity can all contribute to low, depleted or compromised protein levels. This may affect muscles, skin and even hair condition, says naturopath, nutritionist and wholefood chef, Janella Purcell. “Protein is needed for growth and development. It is also used for energy, to manufacture hormones, antibodies, enzymes and tissues. It helps to keep the acidity in our bodies in check by maintaining a proper acid-alkaline balance, and keeps us full for longer than most other nutrients do,” she says. “Many people now realise there are other places to get protein apart from animal products. A higher intake of protein-rich foods is needed in our younger years of rapid growth, and also in our winter years as our muscles loose their elasticity and tone—even if we are getting enough protein in our diet, it’s not always the best quality.” She adds: “Too much animal protein may put increased pressure on your body especially the organs that aid digestion, respiration and circulation, and contribute to calcium loss.” Clean Protein Source While animal foods have long been the go-to of those who appreciate the need for protein, findings show microalgae in the form of PURE PROTEIN provides 60 grams of protein per 100 grams, whereas lean beef, chicken and tuna provide between 30 and 33 grams. “As one of the earth’s first foods, microalgae addresses people and plant needs by delivering vegan protein and nutrition in a responsible, scalable and highly renewable way,” says Lifestream Marketing and Communications Manager, Juliette Banks. “With a global population expected to reach nine billion by 2050[1] and a looming protein shortage, Lifestream PURE PROTEIN provides a new, exciting, sustainable protein source.” Lifestream PURE PROTEIN is also rich in glutamine and arginine, which may support the brain and nervous system, muscle growth, digestive vitality, heart health and more. It is also safe to eat during pregnancy and breastfeeding. How to Take Lifestream PURE PROTEIN Lifestream PURE PROTEIN is a pleasant tasting wholefood with a subtle nutty flavour, therefore it can be included in various recipes, added into smoothies, sprinkled over cereals, yoghurt and more. Serving Size: Adults: ½ - 1 scoop (16.5g – 33g daily). Children under 12 years: ½ scoop (16.5g daily). Why Feasting Now and Fasting Later Won’t Work 2015-12-11T05:12:50Z why-feasting-now-and-fasting-later-won-t-work New Year’s resolutions date back to about 2000 B.C., in the ancient Mesopotamian city of Babylon. But when it comes to dieting, they haven’t stood the test of time, says My Mind Coach Kylie Ryan. “We’re all ‘programmed’ to set New Year resolutions, but who really sticks to them? By February, most New Year diets have gone off the rails,” she says. “Rather than making all-or-nothing resolutions, set a clear intention about the future you that you would like to become.” Kylie, who has spent the past 10 years guiding clients to lasting weight loss through techniques such as coaching, hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), advises people to think about and make one small change instead of trying to change everything all at once. “There’s no quick fix – it can take up to six weeks to make one tiny change and embed it as a habit. But the snowball effect of making one effective, lasting change is huge, you’d be surprised how many other things are positively affected.” While Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations can be a time of over-indulgence for many, Kylie believes in focussing on health now through the festive season, and making better choices, rather than putting wellbeing on hold until the New Year. “Destructive eating and drinking habits are caused by emotional blocks and negative thinking patterns & beliefs. Many people use Christmas as an excuse to binge, and then regret it later. What people don’t realise is that you can have your cake and eat it too when you address WHY you overeat or drink, and clear those emotional issues. Then you are able to enjoy those treat foods and stop easily without stuffing yourself to numb emotions.” Kylie’s top five tips for a healthier start to the New Year without resolutions 1. Self-compassion is the key to making long-term changes – be kind to yourself. 2. Think about that future you – Think about what habits your future self does, that you don’t. And what they don't do, that you are still doing. Then pick one habit that you want to shift, and begin to change just that one. 3. Think of others – Christmas bring up a lot of emotions, from grief as people remember loved ones no longer here, to anger and frustration of being cooped up in traffic or long car trips. Instead of turning to food and alcohol, open your heart to compassion and friendship, and think of your loved ones around you. 4. Choose a health goal today – Stop the dramatic shifts that you know you will never stick to, instead pick something small. It can be as simple as switching from creamy café lattes to long blacks! 5. Walk the walk, instead of talking the talk – Use the Christmas time of and cooler Spring weather to kick-start your metabolism and exercise program with sports, and incidental exercise, get outside, laugh and move your body. Scientific research shows the majority of cell repair happens during REM sleep, with proliferation of skin cells said to be at their peak at midnight. “Applying skincare products at night time can be helpful, as the skin is better able to absorb and utilise the active ingredients within them,” says Lifestream naturopath, Erica Lahmert. “Qsilica Skin Regeneration BEAUTY SLEEP Night Cream is the secret to true beauty sleep.” Scientifically formulated with key nutrient colloidal silica to support skin health, the award-winning night cream also boasts antioxidants such as green tea and Vitamin E to help repair daily damage. Natural oils such as jojoba, olive, avocado, calendula, sage, lavender and shea butter soothe and moisturise skin and calm the mind as you drift off to sleep.
