With a redesigned logo and revised brand identity, every aspect of 1STRUCT now reflects the current vision and future of the business. Our Name Importantly, the business name has remained the same throughout this exciting transformation. 1STRUCT was chosen specifically as founders Michael and Ben Davis wanted the company to be number one in its niche field of construction. The company has become synonymous with quality, care and luxury and the new logo and re-imagined brand identity have built upon this. Logo The new logo needed to mirror the quality of the service, workmanship and luxury finishes that 1STRUCT is known for. “It had to reflect where 1STRUCT has come from, but also represent where we stand today as a trusted, modern, quality Brisbane building company,” said Michael. Having been in business for more than a decade, Michael and Ben knew it was time for a change and a contemporary logo that reflected the maturation of the business. “It was time our logo was updated to match the progression of our business over the last 13 years,” explained Ben. 1STRUCT has come a long way since it was founded in 2005 – processes have been improved and modern technologies and software have been implemented wherever possible. The new and improved logo was designed to reflect this, as well as the brand’s relentless commitment to clients, passion for quality and dedication to exceeding expectations. Brand Identity This was also an excellent opportunity to reassess the brand’s identity. All 1STRUCT branding now reflects the team’s extensive knowledge of the industry, and experience in building luxury homes and renovations on sloping sites. The private single-storey house in Yarralumla, which was designed in collaboration with award-winning local architectural firm DNA Architects and interior designer Melinda Boag, won best Custom Built Home in the $700-$900k category and the major category of Custom Built Home of the Year. The award is one of many won by Rosin Bros for their building work in the Canberra region over the past 20 years. Robert Rosin, Director of Rosin Bros, says, “We’re incredibly humbled to be recognised for the work we do, and specifically this beautiful Yarralumla home, which we know will bring comfort and enjoyment to its owners for decades to come.” Glen Dowse, Principal of DNA Architects, says “We were very excited to have worked on this property with Rosin Bros. They’re very easy to work with, and when the project was finished and we went through the house we were amazed by the level of detail, the quality of finish, and how liveable it is. Delivery was truly first rate.” The project began when Rosin Bros was approached by the home owners, who had decided to downsize from their current property and build a custom home in Canberra’s inner south. “They wanted single level living, so it was fortuitous that this block became available in Yarralumla,” says Robert. “It’s situated on the high side of the street, on a large flat block, with a northern orientation to the side and no large regulated trees that may have caused planning or shade issues.” Demolition and asbestos removal of the tired old home began in 2015, and the build was completed in early 2016. The new house features 3 bedrooms plus study, two living areas, a covered outdoor area, high ceilings, high windows in the main living area to bring in the northern sun, double lock up garage with internal access, durable building materials and a high energy efficiency rating. “The client was seeking a home that combined comfort, natural light, accessibility and classic finishes,” says Robert. “Open plan living, heated floors in the bathrooms, timber flooring throughout, and products from proven suppliers such as Miele and Hansgrohe all came together to create a beautiful, sustainable and modern home that will absolutely stand the test of time.” TALLWOOD CONSTRUCTIONS JOIN THE FORCE ON TV SHOW ‘AUSTRALIA BY DESIGN’ 2017-08-29T22:18:11Z tallwood-constructions-join-the-force-on-tv-show-australia-by-design-1 Award-winning luxury Western Australia builder Alex Campbell of Tallwood Constructions along with government architects from across Australia will be on the judging panel for the new television series Australia By Design, airing in Western Australia on Network Ten on 2 September 2017. Receiving the HIA SW Home of the Year title three times since 2009 the company’s philosophy is one of ‘ensuring the clients have the best experience possible’ when accessing Tallwood’s prestige design and construction service.   What is Australia by Design? Australia By Design is a highly targeted brand new television series that aims to put great architect designed spaces into the spotlight. The show counts down the top ten residential homes, office spaces and industrial buildings in each state and territory. The final episode will feature the best-of-the-best projects based on the judges’ decision.  “With over 20 years in the industry, we work closely with innovative architects and designers to create high quality construction and design solutions suited for the Western Australian environment” Tallwood Constructions Director Alex Campbell said.   Who is involved? Renowned Australian architect Tim Horton has been announced as the series host for 2017. His expertise has guided him to represent the industry within the New South Wales Architects Registration Board. “What’s great about Australia By Design is that we have Government architects involved from across Australia fronting the show. It is about architect-designed homes presented by architects, but with industry leaders who are there to judge them and to rank them,” Tim Horton explained. “We often see architecture on TV being presented one of two ways; it is sophisticated, it is described for architects by architects, and on the other end of the scale we see a free-for-all renovation rumble. What the format of the show does here is bring the accessibility and information together. For that reason, Australia By Design hits the right mark,” Mr Horton said. Alongside Tim Horton will include state-based Government Architects from all around Australia. The list of judges span across multiple fields including sustainability, engineering, roofing, design and so on.   Australia By Design will be airing on Network Ten (Channel 10 Metro and WIN regional) from 3:00pm Saturday July 15 and then every Saturday afternoon afterwards. The first episode begins in Victoria and heads to Tasmania, Queensland, Northern Territory, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia and ending at Western Australia before the finale episode.   For media enquiries and interviews please contact: Alex Campbell, Director Tallwood Constructions, 0427 568 214, alex.c@tallwood.com.au New Brisbane building firm wins top gong for first project 2017-08-07T23:00:26Z new-brisbane-building-firm-wins-top-gong-for-first-project   A new Brisbane building firm has walked away with a top award at the 2017 Master Builders Qld Housing & Construction Awards for its first-ever project. Elysium Designed won the Brisbane award in the Individual Home $551,000 to $650,000 category for its Bramston project. Directors Paul and Lisa Gay established Elysium Designed in 2015 following Paul’s long family history in the building profession. "It has been a very special experience to win this award in our first year and for our very first project," Lisa said. "Being able to demonstrate our building innovation, expertise and high quality craftsmanship – and to receive public and industry recognition for our achievements on such a quality project is incredible."    Their award win was for a 411 square metre architecturally designed house in Tarragindi, which was built on a elevated platform to make the most of the city lights and northerly breezes from the rear deck.   The property's design incorporated elements of a conventional Queenslander home with modern influences such as an upper level ceiling height of three metres combined with a cool colour palate and clever tiling.    "The designers have made great use of the natural light and kept the high ceilings, providing a very light and airy home design incorporating large windows and doors," Paul said.   "Unlike historical Queenslander designs, this modern house has incorporated a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living. Staying true to the roots of original Queensland houses that feature wooden flooring, the internal flooring is made from hardwood Hermitage Oak."   Additional modern features included floor to ceiling tiles, separate butlers’ pantries and stone benches.  The Master Builders Qld Housing & Construction Awards have been recognising the best Queensland builders for some 30 years. "The standard we have seen this year is incredible and demonstrates the impeccable talent and expertise of our industry,” Master Builders CEO Grant Galvin said.   “The Housing & Construction Awards provide an opportunity to recognise this talent, and it is great that after 30 years, they continue to be sought-after by the state’s top builders and tradespeople.” With more than 30 years in the building sector, Elysium Design brings together Paul and Lisa's extensive experience as a qualified builder, project coordinator and construction manager on some of Queensland’s largest developments and quality homes. The firm's ethos revolves around: ·      Being specialists in building architecturally designed homes ·      Having traditional values ·      Flexibility and personalised service tailored to suit each client  ·      Clients dealing directly with the builder ·      Building a limited number of homes per year ·      Using only experienced and qualified suppliers and subcontractors  ·      Sustainable energy efficient building practices Elysium Designed is a member of Master Builders Qld and the Housing Industry Association.   For more information or to organise an interview contact: Lisa Gay | Director at Elysium Designed | 0421 505 282 | lisa@elysiumdesigned.com.au  Melbourne builders start open dialogue with consumers 2017-08-07T22:58:40Z melbourne-builders-start-open-dialogue-with-consumers A Melbourne building firm is starting an open dialogue with consumers in a bid to help improve the sector's reputation. Roda Developments was established in 2006 and prides itself on an ethos of deep building knowledge as well as a shared vision of personalised client service, integrity, and high quality workmanship. However, numerous inquiries into the building industry over recent years has shown scores of disputes between consumers and building practitioners, which has prompted the Melbourne-based firm to act. An Auditor-General inquiry in 2015 found that disputes were rife within the Victorian domestic building industry, with 28 per cent of people who engage tradespeople to help them build or renovate their home experiencing problems. The most common problem, accounting for 63 per cent of complaints, was poor workmanship. "Like any industry, unfortunately there are good and bad operators and the bad ones seem to get all the press coverage," Roda Developments co-director Rob Romanella said. "We pride ourselves on more than a decade of quality workmanship and a number of happy clients so we decided that starting an open dialogue with consumers could be a way of promoting the myriad positives in our industry." Co-directors Rob Romanella and David Maiolo were brought together as carpenters on some of Melbourne’s largest developments and both have a long family history in the building industry. Together with cutting-edge Melbourne production company GLUE Content, Roda Developments has developed an #AskRODA video initiative that will feature both directors answering questions directly from consumers as well as the most common consumer queries. Mr Maiolo said the monthly videos would create a direct communication between builders and consumers, with no questions off the table. "Some consumers can find talking to builders intimidating, but we want to showcase that there are many professionals out there who will happily provide you with honest and upfront information about our sector," Mr Maiolo said. "We all want an industry we can be proud of – and we already have a sector that is filled with professional operators like us – but perhaps there is more work that can be done." Some of the most common questions that consumers ask and Roda Developments will answer include: ·      What happens if a builder goes bankrupt? ·      What are five things you should ask your builder? What happens if you change your mind during a build? ·      What are the main causes of delays? ·      What warranties do builders offer? ·      What maintenance is included after handover? The #AskRODA videos will launch in August 2017 and can be accessed via the website and Facebook page. Consumers can send their questions directly to Roda Developments by emailing askroda@rodadevelopments.com.au or by using the hashtag #AskRODA on social media.   Roda Developments is a registered building practitioner with the Victorian Building Authority and is a member of the Housing Industry Association. With each visitor receiving a personalised Urbanbar Atlanta apron with black straps, a genuine leather patch and silver printed monogram, they were more than equipped to create something spectacular.  With the likes of Carla Zampatti, Leona Edmiston and Dannii Minogue involved, we’re sure the Creatista will spark lots of inspiration for those of us who want to create superb latte art at home!   This is just the latest adventure for the Urbanbar team, who has had an incredibly exciting 12 months. 2016 has seen them launch a number of new ranges, as well as a brand-new website and partnership with culinary travel publisher Smudge Eats.   Founders Leesa Dawson and Gary Kamp have a combined 30-plus years’ experience in the fashion and uniform industries, and have thrown every minute of it into the Urbanbar experience. We’ve made up for lost time and have dived straight into discovering this beautiful country, finding five things that you just must do upon visiting Havana. 1. Step back in time and cruise the streets of Havana in a vintage convertible Yes, it may seem cheesy, but what better way to explore Havana than in a vintage American car? It’s a great way to sightsee, transporting us back to the 1950s and the time of Ernest Hemingway. 2. Get lost wandering the streets of Old Havana and enjoying the colonial buildings A tour in a convertible may give you a great view, but it’s not until we start exploring by foot that we really discover what Havana is all about. There are hidden laneways with surprises on every corner: cigar shops, casas, crumbling facades and weirdly enough, outdoor Internet stations – these need to be seen to be believed! 3. Have a cigar and mojito at Hotel Nacional Hotel Nacional is the grand dame of Havana, having been frequented by artists, actors, and writers, like Frank Sinatra, Ernest Hemingway and Marlon Brando. It was declared a national monument in 1998, and continues to be in more ways than one: we pop by to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy Cubans’ favourite things – a cigar and a mojito! 4. Take a sunset stroll along the malecon (boardwalk) for a people-watching experience The Malecon is Havana’s soul, and is therefore a must-visit when in town. It’s surrounded by charming buildings and is home to lots of cafes and bars, where locals hang out. This makes it the perfect spot for some people-watching, admiring the local way of life. We always aim to visit at sunset, as the light reflects on the water and buildings, creating a picture-perfect setting. 5. Have a daiquiri at the Floridita bar made famous by Ernest Hemingway. There’s something about Ernest Hemingway – he tended to make all his drinking establishments famous. This Floridita bar in particular is very proud of its reputation as the home of the daiquiri. With a lively environment and live band, it’s the ideal spot to drink in all that’s great about Cuba – literally! - ENDS -  For more information or to organise an interview contact:  Rosie Richardson | rosie@mosaictravel.com.au | www.mosaictravel.com.au | 0424 226 388
