The multi-stage project will see NetStar deploy a single unified communications system, including 7,500 Cisco handsets, across the entire Crown complex including the award winning Crown Towers and Crown Promenade hotels, along with Crown Metropol (set to open mid-2010). The initial stage of the project has been completed, and has encompassed the deployment of 2,100 IP phones and messaging to Crown Towers and Crown administration staff. It also includes the deployment of a new, unified contact centre on a highly available, resilient and secure architecture, integrated with multiple Cisco technologies. The new contact centre will be able to process customer reservations and requests more efficiently by tracking each customer case and reporting on how long the request took to be actioned and closed. The Cisco handsets installed in Crown’s hotel suites deliver guest service applications such as room service, housekeeping, local weather, local attractions and entertainment, via a touch screen handset, in the guest’s preferred language. The technology will transform each guest room into its own service centre, offering customers interactive and up-to-the-minute information on the hotel and the local area. In addition to the handset rollout, NetStar has implemented Cisco Unified Communications Contact Centre Express for the Crown Customer Contact Centre and Hotel Reservations Departments. Now, when agents receive a call, they can immediately see the guest’s name, their requested service and the guests’ preferred language, as well as a one-click staff directory on the same screen for fast transfer. This solution also provides functionality for reporting call statistics and shows real-time data on how customers are being served. Each time a customer contacts the centre a new case will be opened with the new system. It will also manage the complex workflows and interfacing of multiple systems, such as property management systems and has an enhanced fax distribution and routing system within the contact centre. With the new system, customers will be served more efficiently, with reservation and request processing streamlined and tracked against Key Performance Indicators. Oliver Descoeudres, Marketing Director for NetStar Australia said, “This is a significant win for NetStar and we are thrilled to be working closely with Crown on its exciting redevelopment. NetStar has once again demonstrated its ability to design, build and maintain a complex unified communications solution that delivers seamless integration with an existing system, while capitalising on cost effectiveness.” Crown’s Executive General Manager - Management Information Systems, Ric Lamb, said “Crown was looking for a partner who understood our business needs and who could meet the challenge of integrating the new system with the existing PABX system during our period of reconstruction. “NetStar delivered on this promise, combining experience with attention to detail to build a robust solution that delivered the required functionality securely. Crown has built a successful business based on outstanding customer service, and will continue to offer our guests the latest in technology services, from the initial booking phase, right through to their stay in our rooms with the new communications solution.” All stages of the project are expected to be completed by 2011. About Crown Entertainment Complex Covering 510,000 square metres (the equivalent of two city blocks), Melbourne’s premier entertainment complex is recognised as one of the largest and most diverse in the Southern Hemisphere. Unless IT solutions providers have a deep understanding of all three and how they work together, they won’t be able to deliver effective IT infrastructure solutions. Beyond Security’s Vulnerability Scanning Service is a fully automated scan of a customer’s network which can be done remotely via the Internet or via a dedicated, on-site appliance. The service scans Web servers, mail servers, FTP servers, Exchange servers, SQL servers, routers, switches and internet-exposed firewalls for possible security vulnerabilities. The process can scan a C-class network in seven minutes and generates a vulnerability report that prioritises all vulnerabilities by risk level and recommends remediation. During that time, the customer’s network is tested for more than 10,000 vulnerabilities (updated hourly) which could potentially expose the business to external attacks. NetStar recently completed a customer survey which showed that more than 75 percent of respondents either did not have a regular vulnerability scanning program or were currently in the market for such a service. Oliver Descoeudres, Marketing Director of NetStar said, “Vulnerability scanning is an under-utilised technology in Australia for several reasons, not the least being that the service and similar offerings can sometimes be quite expensive. Historically organisations have relied on penetration testing or an annual ‘ethical hack’ to comply with regulatory requirements. However, as well being expensive – costs typically starts from A$30,000 for a one-off test – the dynamics of today’s network and rapidly changing threat landscape mean that automated, regular testing of networks has become essential”. “After a significant evaluation of several vendors in the vulnerability scanning space, we chose Beyond Security as our partner because of the quality of their offering. Beyond Security’s product has an extremely low false positive rate as well as being non-intrusive, with little to no impact on a network’s performance. In addition, the solution is very competitively priced. We expect there will be a high demand for this service among our customers as it’s highly affordable.” Steve Hopwood, Country Manager for Beyond Security Australia said, “We are pleased to partner with NetStar in the local market for network vulnerability scanning. NetStar has a strong customer base and a clear understanding of the importance of securing a company’s network against the risks of outside attacks. We look forward to a strong ongoing partnership with NetStar.” One of NetStar’s key clients, a major Australian property management company, has already implemented NetStar’s Beyond Security Vulnerability Scanning Service. A representative of the company said, “Network security is of utmost importance to our business. The service that NetStar and Beyond Security provides gives us peace of mind that our confidential information is kept secure.” NetStar’s vulnerability scanning service is aimed at businesses with more than 200 employees. The cost for an internal scan starts at A$1,100 per month and an external scan will cost from A$220 per month. The service is available immediately from NetStar. - ENDS - For further information, please contact: Rachel York Max Australia Tel: 02 9954 3492 Email: rachel.york@maxaustralia.com.au ABOUT NETSTAR NetStar provides lifecycle IP networking solutions. NetStar Australia wins City of Melbourne contract to deploy state-of-the-art IP network across five sites 2006-02-08T16:52:00Z netstar-australia-wins-city-of-melbourne-contract-to-deploy-state-of-the-art-ip-network-across-five-sites Sydney, 8 February 2006 NetStar Australia, a leading IP network and managed solutions provider, today announced a contract with the City of Melbourne to deploy and support a converged IP network across five council sites, including the new Swanston Street building. NetStar will design, procure and integrate the new converged network, as well as provide ongoing support services to City of Melbourne Council through its Global Network Centre for the next three years. The five sites will be fully deployed by June 2006. NetStar's solution to the CH2 design team's requirements involves the laying of a single network cable to each user in the new CH2 building, delivering a cost saving in wiring and network management to the Council. In excess of 2,000 converged network ports and more than 1,000 large screen IP handsets will be installed across the Council's four CBD sites. Three IPFX integrated call centres are also being implemented as part of the total solution. NetStar will design, procure and integrate the new system. The network is based on Cisco hardware and includes multiple Cisco Call Managers, Catalyst 6500 and 4500 modular switches with 3560 edge switches will provide Quality of Service and Power over Ethernet to every desktop. NetStars solution includes management and maintenance of the network through its 24x7 Global Network Centre (GNC), to manage all of the core devices of the network, recognising the importance of support in a converged environment. The network design delivers availability and resilience, minimising the possibility that a single failure in equipment, power, fibre or cable would cause disruption to a data or voice service for any user, said Alex Hill, New Business Manager, NetStar Australia. By deploying an all-Cisco system for the network and telephony, the council can enjoy the end -to-end security that only a single-vendor system can deliver. Tight communication between individual devices allows fine control of power levels between switches and telephones, and ensures that security profiles are carried through from switch ports even when users move devices around the network. Overall security is improved through common embedded security features which exist in the operating software of all the active devices installed. A converged voice and data network provides a platform to launch new technologies, such as unified messaging and video conferencing, with minimal cost. Although not yet deployed, the system has the ability to handle incoming calls differently, to match a call with the recipient's electronic calendar, and to play the caller a specific welcome message depending on whether the recipient is in a meeting, on leave or travelling interstate. Around 550 staff in Council House 2, the main administrative site adjacent to the 136-year-old Town Hall, will work in a state-of-the-art environment. As well as the VOIP network, the building features passive and active solar design and requires no air conditioning. Earlier this year, the building was awarded a six Green Star certification from the Green Building Council of Australia whose criteria include water and energy efficiency and the quality of the indoor environment. NetStar Australia implements IP solution for Wesley College 2005-11-08T06:00:00Z netstar-australia-implements-ip-solution-for-wesley-college NetStar Australia, a leading IP network and managed solutions provider today announced that it has been chosen by Wesley College, the largest independent school in Australia, to completely replace their legacy LAN/WAN/Voice infrastructure with a state-of-the-art Cisco converged networking solution. The project, valued in excess of $1.5 million, will include IP handsets, soft phones and wireless IP Phones with a total of approximately 1200 devices and is being rolled out across all four campuses of the school. It will deliver a new Cisco data network capable of delivering voice, video and data, with wireless technology allowing staff and students at Wesley College to move freely about the campus and retain access to the network. All 600 staff and 3200 students will be supported by the new infrastructure, which includes extensive Cisco 802.11 wireless access points as well as desktop video-conferencing, and a number of full video-conferencing room systems. The converged network will replace an aging data network and PABX, providing an effective voice network that will deliver greater flexibility and mobility coupled with the cost savings gained by running a single converged network. Our phone system was failing, said Jon Hickman, Chief Operating Officer, Wesley College. So the College Council conducted a thorough evaluation of the options and selected the VoIP solution based on price, the range of new services available and the new features VoIP can deliver. The opportunity to integrate our voice and data networks also provides long term financial and business benefits to the College, and we are satisfied that a VoIP system can offer the reliability, performance and security that Wesley requires with minimal risk, said Mr Hickman. "The College reviewed a number of suppliers and NetStar had the solution, experience and scale we were looking for, as well as a highly professional approach to project management and ongoing service delivery, said Mr Hickman. NetStar's proven ability as a major Cisco solutions integrator was also highly regarded, he said. Within the wireless environment staff can retrieve voice messages at any time and are contactable irrespective of their location on campus. With a Cisco SoftPhone running on a laptop, staff can take their extension number and receive calls wherever they are connected to the network said Hayden Dunne, Senior Account Manager, NetStar Australia. Staff and students will be able to communicate between campuses by utilising Desktop Video conferencing. Video-conferencing enables staff to share resources, classes and curriculum planning more effectively eliminating the need to travel between campuses for meetings. Wesley students will have a truly flexible environment, one which will allow them to work on their notebooks wherever they choose on campus, without being fixed to a cable or an access point. We want a network which supports our kids and keeps their focus and energy on achieving their goals. We dont want the tools getting in their way, said Mr Hickman.
