The PRWIRE Press Releases https:// 2005-04-14T14:31:00Z WebSpy to launch next-generation network traffic log analysis software at CeBIT Australia 2005 2005-04-14T14:31:00Z webspy-to-launch-next-generation-network-traffic-log-analysis-software-at-cebit-australia-2005 Best known for its web/email monitoring and reporting applications, WebSpys Network Analyzer takes TCP/IP traffic analysis to a new level of interrogation and transparency for network traffic management. Aimed at IT Managers and system administrators, Network Analyzer is designed to provide in-depth visibility and reporting through all levels of the TCP/IP network stack. Network administrators and IT managers are increasingly demanding greater transparency and accountability of network resources through the use of interrogation software, said Jack Andrys, CEO, WebSpy. The focus is on prioritising existing network resources to support critical IP-based applications, while balancing the demands of the day-to-day business against available resources. This level of visibility provides for careful capacity planning for future demands. WebSpy developed Network Analyzer as a direct result of customer requests for more advanced network traffic log analysis. When used in conjunction with WebSpys real-time monitoring application Network Live, alerts can be configured to immediately notify the administrator of breaches in network traffic usage. Additional levels of visibility are provided through the management console with a range of charts and diagrams displaying the flow of traffic between organisational subnets and VLANs, computers, network equipment and ports. Network Analyzer also provides for all levels of historical analysis of network traffic log files and incorporates configurable triggers to analyse particular patterns of network traffic behaviour. WebSpy is inviting existing and new customers to register for a beta trial of Network Analyzer. Registrations can be completed at http://www.webspy.com.au/beta/register.aspx. WebSpy will exhibit at the Microsoft stand from May 25 to 26, and at the West Australian Government stand (K22) throughout the entire event. WebSpy and ContentKeeper join forces to provide complete employee Internet management solution 2004-03-10T15:33:00Z webspy-and-contentkeeper-join-forces-to-provide-complete-employee-internet-management-solution Perth-based internet and email monitoring software developer WebSpy Ltd (ASX: WSY) and Canberra-based content filtering solutions developer ContentKeeper Technologies Pty Ltd have entered into an OEM agreement to provide an enhanced web reporting and filtering solution. WebSpy and ContentKeeper are leaders in their respective fields of reporting and filtering. They have both substantially increased sales domestically and internationally despite the strengthening Australian dollar. The bundling of their applications provides organisations with a complete employee Internet management solution and significant cost benefits. WebSpy and Content Keeper have combined their already strong products to provide the most powerful and cost-effective web filtering and reporting solution on the Australian, if not the world, market, said ContentKeeper managing director David Wigley. We are putting management back in control and enabling business-oriented, cost-effective usage of the Internet. Content Keeper will offer a slightly modified version of WebSpys reporting and analysis software to its clients, with significant optimisations based on the key strengths of the ContentKeeper solution. The combined solution will allow organisations significant cost savings and provide for improved efficiencies through knowledge gained by managers on web surfing and email usage habits, said WebSpy CEO Jack Andrys. It will also reduce Internet access costs and achieve bandwidth savings by limiting and/or controlling non-business related use. There will also be reduced legal exposure to workplace relations issues, such as sexual harassment cases, child pornography and the adverse publicity that an incident would generate. Andrys emphasised that the solution should be implemented with appropriate usage policies so that the monitoring was transparent and improved business bottom line with the support of all Internet users throughout the organisation. He added that understanding what was acceptable Internet usage in the particular organisations was critical. About WebSpy Ltd Perth-based WebSpy Ltd (ASX: WSY), which has been placed 35th on BRWs Fast 100 list for 2003, is one of the early innovators of Internet and email monitoring software, providing detailed reporting on all aspects of Internet traffic and analysis of problem areas in real-time. Today, WebSpy has more than 7,500 customers around the world, supported by offices in London and Seattle. About ContentKeeper Pty Ltd Based in Canberra, ContentKeeper helps organisations monitor, manage and control employee usage and access to Internet resources via Web/URL content filtering. WebSpy partners with Exinda to launch Exinda's network optimisation appliances internationally 2003-12-03T04:11:00Z webspy-partners-with-exinda-to-launch-exinda-s-network-optimisation-appliances-internationally Perth-based Internet and email monitoring software developer WebSpy Ltd (ASX: WSY) has partnered with Melbourne-based network optimisation specialist Exinda Networks (Pty) Ltd to launch that companys products in the United States. At a time when exports of locally developed IT solutions have slumped to a 10-year low, we are leveraging our own international infrastructure to bring another world-class Australian technology solution to the international market, said WebSpy CEO Jack Andrys. While Exinda will benefit from our established infrastructure and customer base in the United States, we will be able to leverage this infrastructure to offer an additional and complementary product set to our customers. Andrys said that Exindas offering was complementary to WebSpys in that while WebSpy monitored user behaviour on the network, Exindas products monitored traffic and provided tools to optimise network traffic. WebSpy, which has been included in BRWs Fast 100 list for 2003, is one of the early innovators of Internet and email monitoring software. Having started the software development in 1998, the company recently released latest versions of the full range of its solutions, making reporting and analysis up to 10 times faster. Three-year-old Exinda has developed optimisation solutions for IP (Internet Protocol) and WAN networks in conjunction with the RMIT University. Allowing real-time collection of network performance metrics, these enable quick, efficient tuning of networks to match business needs, reduce costs, accelerate applications and enhance user experiences. Originally a software development house, Exinda has designed and engineered its own range of turnkey appliances. The synergy between Exinda and WebSpys product sets means that we will be able to offer customers a complete and cohesive solution for optimising network use by monitoring both network users and network traffic, said Andrys. WebSpy and Exinda share the same market differentiators, in that both companies offer world-class, high-quality and easy-to-implement solutions at a low cost. Exinda Networks executive director Anthony Bodin said: With organisations increasingly migrating mission critical applications to the Internet, there is a growing need for network optimisation. In the past 12 months, the market has increased by some 40 per cent and we will continue to see year-on-year market growth for our product sets. WebSpy will market Exindas network optimisation and traffic monitoring tools through its offices in Seattle, which have been in operation since 2000, and through its 2,500-strong US customer base. Webspy appoints three new distributors 2003-05-08T16:59:00Z webspy-appoints-three-new-distributors Listed Perth-based Internet and email monitoring specialist WebSpy Ltd (ASX: WSY) today announced the appointment of three new distribution partners for Australia and New Zealand. The partners are Sydney-based Aquion Pty Ltd and WhiteGold Solutions Pty Ltd, and Victoria-based Techplus Distribution. Instead of opting for an exclusive Australia/New Zealand distributor, we decided to appoint distributors who are all specialist operators, bringing different strengths to our channel operation, said WebSpy CEO Jack Andrys. As a result of these appointments, we expect to increase revenue from the Australian and New Zealand markets through focused sales and marketing activities led by sales of our WebSpy Analyzer/Microsoft ISA integrated solution as well as our enterprise-level solutions. Value-added distributor Aquion works closely with its channel partners to develop markets for vendors products via marketing programs targeted at end-user customers. To ensure a deep level of representation, Aquion only looks after a small number of vendors including messaging and data storage security product developer PGP Corporation and award-winning legacy integration tool developer WRQ Software. To maximise market penetration, it boasts an impressive 25-strong list of resellers servicing both the Australian and New Zealand marketplaces. We see a great opportunity to further develop WebSpys share of the enterprise marketplace with our existing channel partners, who are servicing some of Australia and New Zealands largest accounts, said Aquion Managing Director Stephen Balicki. Our customers have high-volume requirements so WebSpys enterprise-level product, Analyzer Giga, in particular, presents a great fit with our current strategies and requirements. Balicki believes that the WebSpy Microsoft ISA Server bundle provides another significant opportunity for his companys channel partners. Our resellers already provide Microsoft licensing services and security solutions to corporate and government customers across Australasia, he said. The WebSpy bundle can help our channel partners deliver increased value to their customers. WhiteGold Solutions uses a niche-on-niche approach to value-added distribution, providing niche products into niche markets through its carefully selected resellers. Focusing on security, connectivity and productivity, WhiteGold Solutions has partnered with leading vendors in this space, like Intranode Software Technologies and Stonesoft, to provide true value-added rather than box-drop services. The distributor does this by working closely with a finite number of quality resellers to ensure not only better margins for them, but also better service and support for their customers. WhiteGold Managing Director Dominic Whitehand believes the partnership with WebSpy will greatly strengthen the distributors already strong security product portfolio, allowing its channel partners to pick and choose from world-class solutions for their customers security needs. With so much Internet misuse affecting organisations, we can now offer a rock solid suite of solutions enabling companies to take action against this misuse - as well as improve productivity and morale, increase bandwidth efficiency and reduce costs, legal liability and security threats, said Whitehand. With good margins available on the sale of all WebSpy products and with WebSpy being in a niche area of the security market, we believe the company offers fantastic solutions for our resellers to take to their customers. Techplus Distribution provides data communications and network security products to the IT market via its extensive channel of system integration partners across Australia and New Zealand. These partners have a wide cross-section of customers from home and small offices to giant telecommunications carriers and government departments. Techplus specialises in providing bandwidth and wide-area network management software and hardware products. This is backed up by extensive experience and knowledge to help its partners provide the correct solution. With our main target markets being high-end system integrators, service providers and telcos, Techplus is well positioned to introduce WebSpy into this relatively new market for the software, said Paul Kern, Techplus Managing Director. Techplus Distribution is excited about the opportunity to provide its channel with WebSpy software and give them the tools to provide better and more accurate information for their customers both large and small. About WebSpy Ltd WebSpy Ltd (ASX:WSY) (www.webspy.com), a Microsoft Certified Partner, is a Perth-based developer of Internet and email monitoring and management tools. The company was started in 1994. It also has offices in Seattle and London and is enjoying international sales success with its WebSpy family of products. These include: * WebSpy Analyzer Standard: Historical Internet analysis and reporting tool. * WebSpy Analyzer Premium and WebSpy Analyzer Giga: Historical Internet and email analysis and reporting tools, Giga for enterprise clients. * WebSpy Live: Real-time Internet and email monitoring and management. * WebSpy Sentinel: Full content data capture device. * Analyzer Standard Suite: Internet analysis tool, incorporating WebSpy Live real-time monitoring. * Analyzer Premium Suite: Internet and email analysis tool, incorporating WebSpy Live real-time monitoring. * WebSpy ISA Server Suite: Integrated WebSpy Internet monitoring tool and Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000 (ISA Server 2000). * FlowMonitor (beta version): The first Windows-based tool to monitor Ciscos NetFlow output, containing invaluable information on network traffic. Webspy releases beta version of first Netflow Monitoring solution for windows 2003-04-15T20:43:00Z webspy-releases-beta-version-of-first-netflow-monitoring-solution-for-windows FlowMonitor is an example of WebSpys intention to move towards information monitoring, expanding on internet monitoring to offer reporting and analysis solutions across a broad spectrum of associated applications and devices. Up to now, our monitoring software has only been able to report on activity across the internet and email, said WebSpy CEO Jack Andrys. With the proliferation of mobile storage devices, such as pocket PCs, however, companies increasingly need to be able to monitor the flow of information across a wide variety of different devices. Via these devices, users can get fast and easy access to the internet or a companys network with no trace of where the user has been or what they have downloaded, Andrys explained. Not only does this reinforce the requirement for monitoring, but also for a turnkey, single-suite solution that takes monitoring beyond just the internet and email. WebSpy FlowMonitor has been developed as a tool to capture NetFlow traffic, which is a proprietary output from certain Cisco routers containing vital information on network traffic. WebSpy FlowMonitor collates NetFlow data from the Cisco routers enabling companies to produce byte-accurate log files to load into WebSpy Analyzer (WebSpys internet analysis and reporting tool). It can be used for a variety of real-time network monitoring applications including network traffic (byte) accounting, user-based network billing, network planning and network monitoring, thus providing timely information on bandwidth performance. While infrastructural networking vendor Cisco has produced an application performing a similar function for high-end enterprise clients using Unix and Solaris platforms, WebSpy is the first software developer to develop an application for Windows. WebSpys offering is also priced affordably, at just AU$900, to accommodate both enterprise and small and medium business needs. The beta version of WebSpy FlowMonitor 1.0 can be downloaded for a free 30-day evaluation from www.webspy.com. Microsoft Integrates ISA server with WebSpy internet monitoring tool 2003-03-05T17:56:00Z microsoft-integrates-isa-server-with-webspy-internet-monitoring-tool Listed Perth-based internet and email monitoring specialist WebSpy Ltd (ASX: WSY) today announced the integration of its internet monitoring tool, WebSpy Analyzer with Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000 (ISA Server 2000). The agreement is the first of its kind between Microsoft and an Australian security software developer, and provides a complete internet security, connectivity, monitoring and management solution. ISA Server, Microsofts firewall and web cache server, is designed to help organisations protect, accelerate and control their network access. Complementing the secure, fast internet connectivity offered by ISA Server, WebSpy provides real-time monitoring of internet activity to organisations implementing the Microsoft security solution. WebSpy CEO Jack Andrys said 2003 marked the move into a new phase of security technology evolution, where the emphasis would be on proactive, not reactive, security initiatives. This year would also see the integration of previously separate point products into integrated product suites, lowering the total cost of acquisition of IT security and making maintenance and management easier. Real-time monitoring is a critical component in developing a proactive security capability. Bundling WebSpys solution with Microsoft ISA Server provides users with a complete, cost-effective and easy-to-maintain internet security, connectivity, monitoring and management solution, said Andrys. IDC analyst Natasha David said there was a real and growing need for internet and email monitoring, complemented by appropriate usage policies. Content security solutions have become an essential e-business component for organisations using the internet and email as they struggle with the complexities of complying with privacy regulations, protecting intellectual property and confidential company information, and avoiding workplace harassment charges, while continuing to improve employee productivity, said David. While employee use of the internet is viewed as a tool to increase productivity, it can equally be seen as a diversion leading to employee abuse of web privileges. Research that used to take hours or days can now be accomplished in minutes, but the internet can also be used for personal activities, with huge cost and even legal implications, explained David. Downloading pornographic (or otherwise offensive) materials, for example, not only chews bandwidth, but can also subject the individual and indeed the corporation to legal risk from sexual harassment or discrimination litigation. Downloading porn is also behind an explosion in virus-driven network security disasters as hackers target the most popular category of website to covertly spread viruses, place malicious code or steal personal and business information. Research from RedSheriff (www.redsheriff.com), a provider of web analytics and market intelligence, giving an indication of sites being visited from the workplace, suggests that Australian employees are using the web for personal use. According to the company, shopping, banking, employment and sports sites featured in the top 20 sites accessed from Australian workplaces in January 2003, including commbank.com.au (6th), anz.com.au (10th), ebay.com.au (15th), seek.com.au (16th), au.lastminute.com (18th) and cricket site baggygreen.com.au (19th). Security is of prime importance to any company doing business over the Internet,Any organisation that uses the internet needs to understand exactly what traffic is entering and leaving their network. Inappropriate use of the internet can affect employee productivity and, in some cases, lead to a legal exposure, said Ben English, Security and Management Product Manager, Microsoft Australia. It is great to see companies like WebSpy taking advantage of ISA Servers extensible architecture to build products that address specific problems in the security market. The powerful combination of ISA Server and WebSpy Analyzer, said English, provides organisations with the functionality they need to protect their information assets from intruders both inside and outside the firewall. WebSpy is a Microsoft Exchange third party solutions provider. Microsofts agreement with WebSpy also kicks off WebSpys inaugural Channel Partner Program for value-added resellers and system integrators focusing on the security management marketplace. The product is available for a free 30-day evaluation and is competitively priced at just A$3,199. About Microsoft Founded in 1975, Microsoft (Nasdaq MSFT) is the worldwide leader in software, services and Internet technologies for personal and business computing. The company offers a wide range of products and services designed to empower people through great software any time, any place and on any device. WebSpys Monitoring software products surPAss $1 million revenue in May 2002-06-18T13:47:00Z webspys-monitoring-software-products-surpass-1-million-revenue-in-may WebSpy Ltds business unit responsible for the distribution of Internet and email monitoring and management tools has exceeded A$1 million of product revenue for the year to date as at the end of May 2002. The company has continued to enjoy consistent growth and record sales from all its sales regions despite tough economic conditions, with the US region in particular predicted to return close to three times the previous years revenue. While economic recovery in the US shows slow signs of turnaround, WebSpy CEO Jack Andrys is confident that once the economy picks up, sales growth will be further accelerated and the companys products will take a greater share of a market that is still far from mature. Andrys attributes continued sales growth of WebSpy products to increasing brand awareness of the WebSpy product range, and the products strength in offering a managed approach to changing the Internet usage culture within companies. WebSpy finds that companies now want to take positive steps to improving the efficiency of time spent working with intra and Internet resources, says Andrys. Managers are saying they are past some of the misuse problems now that usage policies have been implemented and as such are asking how to improve profits from Internet access. A forerunner in developing Internet and email monitoring software for the global market, WebSpy is continuing to lead the pack with its release of new software. Most recently, the company released Email Analyzer 1.0, boasting advanced reporting tools and functionality in support of email log formats such as GroupWise, Exchange, MDaemon and SendMail. WebSpy has also released WebSpy Analyzer Giga, an historical analysis and reporting tool, which is optimised for the enterprise market. Meanwhile, Version 3.1 of WebSpy Sentinel, which captures and stores all web, mail, telnet and news resources downloaded by users, boasts advanced features such as vip exclusions and full content data capture. It increases the stability and scalability of this data capture application, providing a complete package for organisations requiring turnkey solutions for Internet management. From the beginning, we have focused on developing a superior product and a talented and committed team, says Andrys. We have moved forward slowly and cautiously and are now in a position to dedicate additional resources to marketing, and indeed to further product development. Companies like our products because they are provided with information which is meaningful to managers and our products dont get in the way of doing business by blocking or filtering. WebSpy Ltd releases Email Analyzer 1.0 2002-05-06T21:00:00Z webspy-ltd-releases-email-analyzer-1-0 Perth-based developer of email and internet monitoring and management tools WebSpy Ltd has released Email Analyzer 1.0, boasting advanced reporting tools and functionality in support of email log formats such as GroupWise, Exchange, MDaemon and SendMail. The release comes at a time when email use has grown exponentially, with junk email, according to the Federal Government, six times higher than it was in 2000; and with one in six emails, according to the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, being personal. Email communication has become a standard in most offices today, and is therefore also a tool for personal communication from the office, much the same as the telephone once was, says WebSpy Ltd CEO Jack Andrys. This is fair enough and a given of the modern-day office. And, while most employees dont abuse their email privileges, those who do cost companies dearly not only in lost productivity, but also in potential security hazards and legal minefields. Andrys cites the examples of sending spam, chain email and letter bombs, extremely large or numerous emails designed to annoy, interfere with or deny email use of another party. This misuse eats up both company time and bandwidth. Email is also notorious for spreading viruses, and misuse therefore also poses a security, and increasingly a legal, threat to companies. Andrys believes 2002 will be the year in which companies increasingly acknowledge not only the importance of knowing what their bandwidth is being used for, but also the importance of good internal access control. Its a given that in todays modern-day office, people do and should have email and indeed internet privileges, says Andrys. But to protect against unscrupulous acts or dishonesty, companies need to have the relevant software and indeed email usage policies in place. Its been shown that if email monitoring is done transparently, employees respond well and take a more responsible role in the management of the resource." Email Analyzer 1.0, which complies with Australian Privacy Laws, enables companies to create comprehensive reports based on the email sent and received to and from an organisation. It is a highly configurable program that allows companies to load data from proxy server or mail server log files. Email Analyzer can find specific data within summaries and display it in charts and tables. It can be installed on any computer running Windows 95 or above. The release of Email Analyzer continues the companys commitment to providing cost-effective tools that work in conjunction with existing resources. New features have been developed to improve productivity and morale, increase bandwidth efficiency, reduce security threats, and reduce legal liability. Email Analyzer is available for download and a free 30-day evaluation from Sydney-headquartered Janteknology (www.janteknology.com.au), WebSpys exclusive Australian and New Zealand distributor. WebSpy Ltd bucks trend to report 210% sales rate increase 2001-11-19T22:00:00Z webspy-ltd-bucks-trend-to-report-210-sales-rate-increase WebSpy Ltd, a Perth-based developer of Internet monitoring and management tools, has announced a current sales rate increase of 210% over the previous year, despite current world economic conditions. At the end of October 2001, and just one-third into the current financial year, sales of the WebSpy product range, including maintenance subscriptions and renewals were at 70% of the past financial years total. This is significant as over the same period to the end of October, operational expenses and cost of sales have been reduced. Last financial year WebSpy product sales amounted to a total of $456,000, while sales of the WebSpy product range are currently at $342,000, with the figure expected to be at half a million dollars by the second quarter ending December 2001, says WebSpy CEO Jack Andrys. While the current sales rate increase of 210% over the previous year, positions the WebSpy business unit to return revenues of $1 million, Andrys, however, expects $1.5 million. This, he says, would be in line with last years growth patterns where two-thirds of the years total revenues came in the second half of the financial year. Sales of WebSpy have continued to grow as a result of the increasing brand awareness for the WebSpy product range and improvements introduced in the past six months resulting from customer feedback, says Andrys. This has brought the features and benefits of the software more in line with the needs of growing market segments, and helped companies looking to improve productivity, reduce legal liability and improve security. The software is designed to be implemented for a small investment in time and dollars but goes on to save users thousands of dollars by helping to increase productivity and reduce IT costs, says Andrys. He points out that the WebSpy business unit represents some 50% of the companys revenue expectations during the current financial year. WebSpy, he says, has enjoyed growth in sales around the world, especially in the North American market, where it recently launched operations. Sales of WebSpy software have continued to grow at a rate that indicates the company is firming up its ability to distribute products overseas, says Andrys. With five quarters of consistent sales growth the WebSpy business unit is favourably positioned to achieve its target of $1.5 million in sales for the year. Andrys is confident that once the economy picks up, sales growth will be accelerated yet again and the companys products will take a greater share of a market that is still far from mature. Other activity, such as selective marketing and new product releases over the next nine months are also expected to assist revenue growth during the rest of the financial year and into the next.
