Six Australian Not-For-Profits To Receive Pro-Bono IT Support Valued Collectively at Over $1M
Sydney, Australia, 24 July, 2015: Tata Consultancy Services (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm, today announced that six Australian not-for-profit organisations are set to receive expert IT and technology support free of charge, as part of a new community program.

At an event in Sydney today, Deborah Hadwen, CEO of TCS Australia and New Zealand, announced that HeartKids Australia, Cystic Fibrosis New South Wales, Hunter Medical Research Institute, The Royal Hospital for Women Foundation, The Australian Indigenous Leadership Centre and The Penguin Foundation will be the first beneficiaries of the TCS Australia and New Zealand Pro Bono Community Program.

The Program offers health, education and environment focussed not-for-profits the opportunity to realise how technology can improve their operations’ ability to create a significant and positive impact on their communities and the environment.

The organisations will receive in-kind TCS services valued collectively at over AUD$1 Million, in areas such as application and website development, IT consulting and technology optimisation, digitisation and digital transformation, as well as software testing.

Deborah Hadwen, CEO of TCS Australia and New Zealand, commented: “We believe technology has the power to transform our world and by empowering organisations, such as these six worthy recipients, we have the opportunity to strengthen and further support the communities in which TCS operates.

“Technology can help us effectively address health, social, and environmental challenges, making them a thing of the past. We are proud to be offering our IT solutions and consulting services to these organisations, enabling them to do what they do best – creating a positive impact,” she said.

Michele Adair, CEO Cystic Fibrosis New South Wales, commented: “Being able to control your health information is vital, especially if you live with a really serious and complex chronic disease like CF. Young adults expect to be able to use their phones for this task and we believe an app will make a huge difference to the physical and mental wellbeing of thousands of people.”

Sally Castle, HMRI Associate Director – Marketing & Development, Hunter Medical Research Institute commented: “We are focussed on making sure that families aren’t torn apart by illness or disease. With TCS’s assistance, we will be able to provide healthcare professionals with the latest medical research findings to deliver the best health solutions for their patients.  The incredible support we are receiving from TCS will allow us to create a captivating and intuitive website that will provide a great resource for the community and assist in growing donations for funding medical research. We are so grateful for this opportunity to work with TCS and their leading team of experts.  This will help keep families together for longer – here and across the world.”

Catherine Oates Smith, CEO The Royal Hospital for Women Foundation, commented: “Our vision is to position The Royal Hospital for Women as a thought leader in women’s health and wellness education in the community – including corporate communities. With support from Tata Consultancy Services we hope to harness our digital platform to provide a sophisticated knowledge-sharing environment for the community on women’s health issues.”

Jayne Blake, CEO HeartKids Australia, commented: “HeartKids are extremely excited to be able to drive its ground-breaking Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Registry Project, and could not do this without the valuable support of Tata Consulting Services, along with generosity of other partners such as Wilson HTM Foundation, the Founding Partner of the CHD Registry Project. The Registry is essential to monitor the number of patients with CHD, to assist in tracking clinical outcomes and providing vital data for planning of future needs. The objective of the Registry is to improve CHD treatment and survival, to improve the quality of life and services available to those with CHD. It will be used to evaluate the outcomes and inform the planning of effective services that are consistent with best practices.”

Dr Peter Dann, Penguin Foundation Board Member, commented: “The Penguin Foundation is thrilled to be accepted into Tata Consultancy Services Pro Bono Community Fund and look forward to our partnership. The solutions provided by TCS will greatly improve our current donor systems, allowing us to invest further resources into fundraising activities which support world-class wildlife and environment conservation activities on Phillip Island.”

The TCS Pro Bono Community Progam in Australia draws inspiration from the business’ Pro Bono work in India, where it has leveraged its IT competence to create an Adult Literacy Program. Since its inception in 2000, the program has impacted the lives of almost 200,000 people across India.
