About Us

GWFN was established in July 2015. The network is a not for profit community organisation driven by a diverse group of passionate individuals who are instigating change within the local food system. The region includes the local council areas of Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday. The regional brand will cover an area of 90,000 square kilometres, boasting an amazing variety of produce including seafood, beef, tropical fruits, vegetables, nuts, dairy, honey, coffee, pork, goat meat and eggs. GWFN’s vision is to be a community connected to our food and to be recognised as a fresh taste destination grown out of authentic seasonal experiences. The Greater Whitsunday Farmers’ Market is supported by Mackay Regional Council’s Invest Mackay Event Attraction Program.
